El Sombrero

This was super good! I’m from CA and now live in TX and I would frequent this joint if they were where I live. The cheese enchiladas were probably the best I’ve ever had and the beef taco was super tasty! Def recommend this place!

Very great food like always this place never misses a dime first place me and my partner ate and still good since day one!

My go to Juneau mexican restaurant. Favorite is the carne asada, but super taco is a big hit, too. Amazing servers and the cook is clearly a pro. I highly recommend it.

So I'm from San Diego where we have the best Mex food! Of course I had to try this place in Alaska. I was not disappointed! The best salsa ever! And my chimichunga was delicious!

I came to Juneau during all the covid restrictions so I was so happy this restaurant was open next to my hotel. This Mexican joint has got to be the better Mexican places I’ve been at in Alaska. Waitress recommended the enchiladas sauce. Was so happy❤

As a Texas-raised couple on a cruise to AK, we were skeptical and would have walked right by except that we grew up in a town with a restaurant named El Sombrero. This gem of a place should be a must-eat location! The salsa came out with great flavor, thick, and not tomatoey. Since it was lunch, we skipped apps and went straight for entrees.
The hits kept coming when the tortilla soup came out! Face-tingling, head-sweating warmth of a soup was presented in short order. We will be getting more of this on a return trip!
Entrees were beef fajitas and tres enchiladas. We will pass on the fajitas next time as we prefer our beef grilled then sliced and placed as the dish comes out. Just not fans of the pre-sliced beef. The enchiladas were outstanding! She preferred the cheese as it reminded her of growing up on Texas while I leaned in harder on the chicken enchilada. Beans and rice were on point and we hated to not bring all of it back to the boat!

They have managed to keep this place family owned and it shows! The staff is super sweet and very patient! Food is great! They are willing to work with diet restrictions, and food is very consistent each time I go here… A++

We have tried every Mexican restaurant in Juneau and have been disappointed by food and service. This place was great! Both food and service was excellent. Looking forward to going back.

My children and I were starving and looking for something to eat. Found this hidden gem! We live in Wisconsin but I’m originally from California. It’s been a long time since I’ve had really good Mexican and enjoyed every bit. Totally Recommend

Excellent local Mexican joint. You don't go for the ambiance... You go for the huge servings and excellent food. Food is made to order fresh, customizable and amazing. Staff is friendly and fun. Price is good given the sizes. Salsa is some of the best we've had. Highly recommend.

I am from Houston we have authentic Mexican restaurants everywhere. I was mostly curious and they didn't disappoint. Food was really good. Loved their guacamole!

As a Southern California native, I know Mexican food, and this place has very flavorful and authentic food. I had the Enchilada trio and it was great. The red sauce is flavorful and spicy! Definitely homemade and not the junk from the can.

Always a great experience here. Love eating on the balcony when available. There is a flight of stairs so be warned. Favs Momma's burrito, tres tacos, and veggie fajitas (by request). Pacifico and a few Alaska brews on tap. Fresh chips and salsa await you!

Best Mexican food in Alaska and most probably north of Mexico!!! The last time I ate here was in 2006 and now in 2019 the food tastes the same :AWESOME!! Excellent service by staff! A happy place. And not expensive. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Juneau, Alaska. The last place you'd expect great Mexican food!
