Spice Juneau Indian Cuisine

This is my husband and I's go-to dinner spot. The food is always so flavorful and delicious. Service has always been good. No complaints from us! Their coconut shrimp curry is divine and my absolute favorite, for anyone looking for a recommendation.

After dining here a couple of times, I have come to the conclusion that it is my favorite Indian food in all of Juneau. (Honestly, best I've had anywhere) The owner is super nice and added her own spin to popular dishes. If you ask for hot, it will be hot, so if you are white, be careful! The chicken tika is so tender that you can tell the chicken receives special treatments in the back when nobody is looking. Possibly a 24-hour marinate, or who knows, maybe it's been wined and dined before lights out. I would write more, but you all are hungry and found where you need to go, so get to spice... You will thank me later.

Amazing food! We went at lunch and had the pleasure of meeting the owner. She was an electrical engineer and changed careers to open her own restaurant and share her grandmother's authentic Indian recipes. The dishes are phenomenal, authentic Indian food that you won't find anywhere else, and the portions were plentiful. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo until we had ravaged everything, but got one nonetheless. Highly recommend!

Incredible meal! We were the first customers of today's soft opening and were very satisfied with everything we had. The new owner Nimmy has done an amazing job with the decor and is very passionate about home style cooking. Would paddle our kayaks 300 miles again to Juneau to eat here!

Definitely check out this place when you’re in Juneau! One of the best restaurants in the area. Sometimes they even have live music. It would be a perfect spot for date night. Great service and even better food!

Came to saffron March 3rd and honestly it was lovely. To be completely honest I had come here years ago and wasn’t a fan but man am I glad I gave it a second chance!

From the moment we came in the atmosphere is warm and the smells are amazing. Our server was super sweet and seated us right away. She helped us out a lot when we couldn’t decide what to order and her suggestions were great!

Just to start, this Indian food isn’t really like Indian food I’ve had...anywhere. But! That doesn’t mean it’s not good and is close enough that it still hits the spot. We ordered the Jhinga fry, 3 chutneys, naan, lamb kheema, and the lamb curry(I actually can’t remember the last one 100%, it’s been a while 🤷🏽‍♀)

The jhinga was delicious and served over rice which let’s be honest, I can never get enough rice. We ordered the mango, tomato, and roasted peanut and garlic chutneys. I was surprised that the tomato one ended up being quite sweet but all were delicious and the peanut one packed a punch! I will say the naan is nothing like any naan I’ve ever had in a sort of comical way- it’s very thick and dense, nothing very airy as naan usually is. Probably closer to a paratha really but good nonetheless. The lamb curry I recall being pretty good but honestly the kheema stole the show. It was our servers recommendation and she did not steer us wrong- such amazing flavors and the sort of dish that feels like it must have taken some effort and love to make! The chai- also pretty damn good.

If you’re looking for Indian food in Juneau don’t skip this!

After living in multiple large, metropolitan cities and having eaten at many, many restaurants that serve Indian food or Indian-inspired food, I can say hands down that Spice serves up some of the best Indian food I have ever had, with authentic flavors, clearly made from scratch and with care. The naan is a different style than we are accustomed to, perhaps made with a different type of flour with less gluten but still tasty. Overall, this was the best meal, by far, that we had during our week-long stay in Juneau. I only wish they were open on Sundays so I could go back for more!!! So, so delicious.

The most perfect dining experience I've ever had here in Juneau. 10/10 strongly recommend. The owner and the server, Chris, are super friendly, courteous, and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. The food is the very best and super delicious. You will not be disappointed with this dining experience.

Very clean and beautiful interior. The custom blown glass lights were intriguing. Food choices were good and the wait staff were patient and helpful. Half portions were plenty for a light dinner. Many vegetarian options and all main entrees were gluten-free.

We made reservations for 4 of us for dinner and had a super cute booth in a nook. The menu has an extensive selection and the food was excellent. We had a great time!

Spice surprised me with some of the best and most authentic flavors I’ve experienced outside of India. It’s hard to believe that in such a remote town, she can find the ingredients for such a fine dish, but here I felt the same attention to detail normally reserved for traditional families at home, where food is love.

Phenomenal food and atmosphere. From lightening time local art, the space is thoughtfully crafted. The live music was the perfect volume—we didn’t need to shout. Support this local-based entrepreneur who spent time making personal recommendations sourced from her grandmothers recipes. Will be back.

Excellent lamb curry, got the large and was definately enough for two people. Flavorful and lamb was cooked perfectly with big chunks of it in the curry. I’m definately coming back and would definitely recommend to friends. Waitress was very friendly.

Great Indian food! I make a point of eat here when I’m in town.
