Powhatan Music and Sound

All three of my children have taken music lessons at Powhatan Music and Sound over the years. Our latest round of lessons was last summer when our daughter took guitar lessons for the first time for about four months until her school schedule became crazy busy. We loved our experience there. Now, my girl is writing lyrics and writing the music to go with her songs. Her teacher gave her a great foundation with which to work and fostered a desire to continue to pursue music. I would absolutely recommend Powhatan Music and Sound for lessons.

My son's drum lessons at Powhatan Music & Sound have been exceptional! The instructor knowledgable and patient, fostering a supportive learning environment. The store also offers a fantastic selection of equipment and accessories, making it a one-stop destination for musicians at any level.

Outstanding service by Erik! I arrived in the parking lot nearly 2 hours before they opened and was going to leave, but Erik came out and invited me in. I had previously stopped to talk to Erik about my purchase and so I was in and out in no time. Glad to be be able to shop local, too!

My daughter (now 6) has been taking piano lessons for a little over a year here. Her teacher does great with her and she’s progressed so much. The staff is always nice while my youngest and I wait in the waiting area during her lesson.

Tony is one of the best guitar tech's in the area. He installed a set of Fender Texas Special pickups in my Strat and it sounds amazing. Great set up too. Excellent quality and price was very reasonable. Powhatan Music and Sound always provides great service. Highly recommended.

I started taking piano lessons last month with Beth. I have never had any musical training before this, and had no idea where to start. Beth helped get me set up with a keyboard so I could practice at home, and I am absolutely LOVING to play piano! I can play for 4 or 5 hours straight on the weekends if I have time, and I practice during the week at least an hour or 2 a day. Beth is an AMAZING teacher and mentor! I look forward to continuing my piano playing journey! If you are interested, this is the place to go!!

A lot of cool gear that you don't typically find in other stores. Very friendly staff. The owner is extremely knowledgeable on all types of musical gear out there. He does amazing work. He has repaired my guitars and, amps and, I haven't had any problems since.

Very professional and friendly. I had my Jazz Bass pickups replaced here and Tony did an amazing job for an amazing price. Definitely check this place out for instrument repairs, set-ups, and modifications!

Great staff, facilities, and collection of instruments and supplies

Took a bass guitar in for a knob that was shorting our. Not only did Tony fix the knob but he also readjusted the neck and now it’s like a brand new guitar! Thank you for going above and beyond and for rushing the repair for us! You’re a Local musicians treasure!

The staff at Powhatan Music are very helpful when looking at different options for things I'm looking for. They have a good Luthier also.
