Gaylord's Caffe Espresso

Such a cute casual coffee shop. They have an array of pastries, the espresso is really tasty. I had a cappuccino with cinnamon and nutmeg. It can warm and frothy. My friend ordered the Mexican mocha. It has chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne pepper for a bit of spice! So tasty. We sat by the window and enjoyed people watching while catching up with friends.

Lovely cafe with a lively atmosphere. The coffee was outstanding, perfectly made to my taste. This cafe is open late which is a plus and plenty of space for a group. Give this a place a try!

It took me a while to try this place because I thought it might be too hipster for me from the outside. But this is one of the only coffee places open later than 8-9PM in the area; that alone is enough for the 5th star, and got me in the door. It turns out they have a great selection of tea and espresso drinks. I tried the Milky Way and though it was a tad slow coming out, I was not disappointed. The atmosphere is actually quite cute, with an antique facade at the back, old video game consoles as tables, and lots of windows for natural light. Their snacks are affordable and tasty (avocado toast for less than $20—let alone for $3.75!—is a huge win in the Bay area). I will come back here.

This is a nice spot for a quick coffee and pastry. I really liked that there are a lot of small tables. I came in a bit later around 6pm and it was crowded but I was able to get a table with my friend. They offer wi-fi and the coffee and food was good and a good price. The other thing I really liked about the place is that it is open until midnight! This is a good find considering that a lot of coffee shops in the area close around 7pm the latest (this is why it earned its 5 stars). It's a great spot if you can get over the limited parking

I am a lover of coffee and I do love the espresso drinks at Gaylord's cafe. Just as much, I love sitting there reading, people watching, studying, meeting friends or listening to music. Been coming here for years, and as I've grown up, I've watched others grow up too. Some are old friends, others are strangers who I've seen change over the years, but do not know their names. I can hypothesize about what they are really like, but the mystery remains. But while people may change, one things stays the same.. they still come back to Gaylord's cafe.

People aside, the coffee drinks are quite tasty just as long as you avoid the coffee itself. In other words, stick with Espresso. Love the lattes, which created like an art.

The cafe has been renovated recently, and I don't much like the new look, but it doesn't matter. I'm loyal to this cafe. I highly recommend giving it a chance. After all, it's my favorite on the entire West Coast!

Always glad to stop in at Gaylord's. Friendly longtime faces behind the counter, great menu items and coffee, excellent art on the walls by local artists, currently 2 teachers from Bishop O'Dowd HS. It is a gem of our city, a beloved relic. The sunny corner bench allows for street views and conversation. The outside tables are good for sunny days and/or smokers.

I like coming here with a buddy to chat or with my computer or a book to get things done. Good coffee and a fairly substantial menu for what appears at first glance to be a small basic coffee shop. They have meals, pastries, smoothies and even ice cream treats. Not to mention free Pac Man.

Well, I love their sweet chai lattes and my mom likes the spicy chai. I've head the coffee is okay, perhaps not the best, but the person who told me that has refined tastes. The make some yummy food and the people who work there are great. They also have an array of interesting art work on the walls and their music selection is good. They also have outdoor seating with umbrellas. I definitely recommend checking out Gaylords.

one of my go-to spots to work remotely. i was nervous when maps called it "funky" but it's just a straight up chill coffee spot. good espresso good snacks in the low $$s. the day lady is always playing a top quality mix of new wave and motown and sometimes bjork. every once in a while she makes a DOPE cake of some crazy (always delicious) flavor and sells it by the slice. never had trouble finding a table. wifi's good. bathroom's hidden in the back. great for a full workday or a momentary diversion on the road to the grave.

Best place for coffee lovers. Oakland loves a strong drip coffee. Gaylord' s has strong coffee ice cubes too. You know, just in case. It's tiny and crowded but that's how it is. I wouldn't have it any other way.

My favorite haunt! Some of what made Gaylord's great has gone by the wayside as the times have changed. The staff is always friendly and they have a great beverage menu. A great place to visit and hang out!

A long time coffee shop with great people serving such yummy food (eggs, bacon and rice is my fav) and the coffee is strong but not burnt and ever so yummy. One batista made my latte with a puppy drawn into the foam! And my boyfriend got a little bird. So creative and so delicious.

Much better than the cookie cutter brand coffee cafes on piedmont. Complainers are sbux yuppie hipsters. This place is authentic, chill and way less hectic than the big box cafes. Great wifi too.

It's a nice airy space and lots of natural light. Got a good cup of French roast, decaf, hard to come by. Some outdoor seating too.

Today was my first time here and I loved it the guy was awesome and the coffee was wonderful I didn't order coffee but I did try it from my friend and it was amazing I had the tropical tea and that was also good

Really strong coffee and lots of seating and open late. A great place to get work done. Try a drink made with their coffee ice cubes!

Carmella, the thing to get! They also serve pastries, they have lots of seating, you can play Pac-Man while you wait for your drink or food items, water is complementary, there is seating outside if you have brought your dog along do not worry, inside you will find a windowsill full of great community activities to get involved in which I think is very awesome

Such a good vibe. Lots of tables. Food they make themselves. Very chill. Great place to get work done.

They have frozen coffee cubes so that your iced coffee doesn't get watered down as it melts. I love that!

I can’t believe they closed. I’ll really miss Gaylord’s, their arcade-tables and fancy lattes. Such a loss for the neighborhood - I am devastated.
