Hayward DMV

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted professionally by the clerks that worked there. By looking at everything, I can tell that the camaraderie is pretty solid amongst the employees at the Hayward DMV. When at the counter, I was treated with courtesy and respect.

People that go to the DMV for services must remember that they are trying to do the best they can with a limited staff. Every company had their good days, and they're bad. But the employees at DMV are human as well, having to take a lot of crap verbally from people and trying to maintain the composure and professionality all at the same time.

During my visit, the employees were processing everyone as fast as they could. They answered my questions and processed my things efficiently.

I got in and out way faster than what I attempted to do the previous week at Oakland.

Went in without an appointment around 9 am . I was helped pretty fast and was explained clearly what was needed from me in order to make a transaction fast

An excellent location with charming atmosphere and helpful staff. Wait time can be a little long without an appointment, but there's usually plenty of seating available

Made an appointment to change my name on my license and was in and out in 20 mins! I was helped by someone named Kayla who was very pleasant and professional.

They worked efficiently, the staff were friendly, and my total tone there without an appt was less than 30 minutes.

Came in a few minutes before 1pm on a Thursday without an appointment to renew my drivers license. There were two people in front of me and waited in like 10-15 mins to check in with the clerk. I filled out the renewal application online and showed them the confirmation number. Was G115 and the screen showed G110. Was done before 2pm. The clerk told me I didn't need to take the online course that the online application listed for renewal so she said I could ask for a refund online. She was very nice and thorough. Was able to find parking withoit issue. Smaller office space.

Was here for a friend's behind the wheel test. The staff was super friendly and everything went smooth and fast.

The DMV was a little small and it was a line going outside and the line was moving very slow to get to the counter to get your number to see a clerk it took 20 minutes to get my number and then a half hour to talk to the clerk. Just was there to show I had my smog certification and get my tags. I was trying to pay for my other car registration but it was a month before they expired you have to go to a DMV kiosk to get them and I'm glad I found that out. If you're tag's are expired then they can help you out. The lady was very polite and helpful in explaining to me about the tags for the other car. She also helped me letting another customer know that I didn't cut her. The other customer must've stepped back and looking around and didn't see I was at the other window when the clerk told to step to the next window so she can get me my tags and that's when that lady customer kinda got loud letting me know and everyone in there that I had cut her in line. I told her I didn't and I thought the clerk didn't see the commotion because she wasn't at the window but she was in the back getting my tags and she told the lady that I didn't cut her. The other lady giving the tickets to see the clerk's was also very nice. They also have restroom 🚻 and it was clean. Other than that lady customer having an attitude with me and the long wait because it was busy it was better than the Stockton DMV.

let this be the review to tell you that it's not that bad!! you just NEED TO BE PREPARED. i read these reviews expecting the WORST and it was easily one of the fastest experiences. first off i'd like to say, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE! it only took 2-5 minutes to check me in, and i was able to be called at my appointment time. i was in and out of there in 30 minutes. i went in to get my permit test and everyone was very helpful and friendly. my ultimate advice is to BE PREPARED, look on the dmv website to see what documents you need to bring and bring them! try to do some applications online to save time if you can. whatever you do, check online and see if you can do anything or bring anything in advance otherwise you will have a bad experience. (by the way there were a lot of racism reviews, i didn't experience anything and i'm asian but it could just be luck). good luck!

The guard at the was so kind. I just dropped by to pick up a current book & paperwork for a disabled parking permit & the gentleman at the door went & got everything for me so I didn't even have to get in line let alone wait for anything.

I had great experience. They are busy and all the staff are doing a good job.

Went in expecting the worse. I did not have an appointment to renew my license. Turned out to be organized. Clerks guiding you where to go. Checking lines to make sure everyone was in the right place.

Excellent service. I went to renew my real ID. I made an appointment and filled out the necessary forms prior to my visit. It only took 20 minutes to complete the process.

I had a great experience at Hayward DMV. I didn't have an appointment, and only waited 5 minutes. The employees where very nice and explained the process very well. Only took 30 minutes.

That DMV has to be the best one in the area if you know what you’re doing. The employees are all amazing. People come there unprepared and try to push their buttons, but they can’t. I’ve been living near for over 15 years and for the most part, the same people still work there. They love their job, but they aren’t going to take your BS. Don’t take your frustration out on someone you need for basic essentials in your life. Come there ready and it’ll be a breeze. Let the employees do their job and go home like anyone else would want to.

The female employee with the glasses at the front and the Male employee at Window 14 were so helpful *and* nice.

I had an appointment, and I think that made a huge difference because the process was swift and flawless, but all applications needed to be processed through the DMV website prior to the appointment.

In and out right at 2hrs. That includes waiting for 45 minutes before they opened at 9am that day. I didn't have an appointment but I uploaded my documents online and had a code when they checked me in outside. If you don't upload your documents you may have a harder time getting in the door from what I noticed. I was impressed how fast it was to get my license.

This will read like a fairy tale, but every milligram of 200 tons of credit was earned here:

Renewed/upgraded license to Real ID, and anticipated there would be complications, hassles and general glacial pace.

After filling out the application online & loading the required documents, I had a 12:20 appointment set. I arrived at 12:13, parked and went to the appointment line- 3 people ahead of me who were checked in in less than 4 minutes- and my turn took less than 1, performed by a friendly & professional woman. I was given a number and went inside to wait.

I came prepared for seige- coffee, books, a power bar, back up battery for the phone, and wondered if I should have brought a tent & sleeping bag.

I took a seat, reached for my book- and my number was called promptly at 12:20.

Cut to the chase- I was back in my car by 12:34, task completed and on my way home.

My sincerest thanks and overwhelming praise to the Hayward DMV can't be conveyed in words here- I'm blown away at how smooth everything went, and how great every person I dealt with is.
