This is the best family-run bakery! I look forward to visiting every week to talk story and get a matcha latte and delicious chocolate walnut cookies and other baked goods. Their prices are affordable, their staff are friendly and remember SO many names of their customers, and their food and coffee and delicious. It’s also a large open space so it’s a great place to sit with a book or do some work and never feels cramped or crowded. Please consider supporting this local family business - they are an Oakland gem.

Honestly, for the last 9 years this place has been my Go-To for when I’m not feeling well and need some nurturing. As a gluten-free person I come here for the GF Focaccia Tuna Melt (add tomato) and the GF Chocolate Cupcake with Peanut Butter Chocolate Dipped Frosting 🧁 😮‍💨. Today I added their Pozole and it was amazing! Also, they have the BEST gluten free breakfast sandwich 🥪 and it’s so affordable. Love love love them 💕

loved this place!! delicious bagel sandwiches and coffee at a great price. my friend and i got the egg/cheese and the slow roasted pork bagel sandwiches and the service was fast, food was hot and tasty with good portion size.

the other baked goods (croissants, cookies) look fresh and tasty, ciabatta and croissant sandwiches also look great! im excited to try the chipotle chicken and tofu portabella sandwiches next. there seem to be plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans in addition to the classic sandwich/bagel options (ex: tofu cream cheese).

the space is large and open with plenty of seating and a nice row of window seats too. clean and pleasant. seems like a great place to either meet up with a friend or read, study, work, etc :) there is an outlet or two but i haven’t tried them out, unsure if they have free wifi.

more than anything there’s a cozy homey family vibe that i love, i’m looking forward to coming back frequently :)

The best. A chill, down to earth neighborhood coffee shop with great baked goods and super friendly staff. Seems to be a good spot to work too, though there aren’t a ton of outlets. I haven’t eaten lunch here, but people seem to like their sandwiches - good sounding vegetarian options as well.

The Cubano and Turkey club ciabatta were delicious! So flavourful that we enjoyed every bite. We also hit our coffee addiction with a cappuccino and flat white which were fragrant!

Love This Old School Bakery! Why do I call it old school!? Cause they make the products they sell! (Something lost in the 21st century) Absolutely 💯 delicious baked goods and coffee. Safe, clean and family run. Stayed at the hotel next door, will be back! Best keep secret in Oakland

We LOVE Sweet Bar! The bagels are the best in the area (better than Boichik!) and everyone who works there is so kind! Plus, my dog is obsessed with their dog treats :)

Cheap & delicious! Breakfast bagel $5.50. 16oz Drip coffee is $3.75 and only $2.95 for a 12oz. They have gluten free options! They offer lunch sandwiches for $10.

New to the neighborhood and was looking for a reasonably priced bagel sandwich. Found this place and decided to give it a shot, WOW was I pleasantly surprised. Look at this thing! Very tasty, will be coming back for sure.

Great coffee and chocolate chip cookies. The bagels are amazing. It's definitely a nice way to start your morning!

wonderful service- very quick, very patient- the cookies were delicious- the sandwich (portabella tofu) could have used more spread, a bit dry. the mocha was alright. the space is open so a lot of moving room but limited seats.

Stopped in for a coffee and bagel this morning. The California bagel was amazing and loved having the lavender latte. Highly recommend checking out this spot for some fresh bagels and pastries.

We ended up here by chance and did not regret it. The most delicious bagels and an out-of-this-world Cubano sandwich sold, prepared and served by friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended if you’re looking for breakfast in Oakland.

Update: Today, 7 months later, my daughter exclaimed it was the best bagel she’d ever had. ;-)

I had a roasted chicken salad which came as a sandwich 🤷🏽‍♀ but it was delish! We also had the bagel with eggs and bacon etc superb! Service great. Restaurant spacious but cozy, good for kids, couples, to study, staff is great!

Everything here is delicious. Bathroom is weird though, but hey, just pee and get out and go back to your delicious sandwich or cupcake or whatever. Wash your hands.

There were 3 at most, two ladies servicing the store. They prepared my Father n' I thee Most Scrumptious of Sandwiches 🥪's ✨👌🏽 Found this place on a fluke, but would very much entertain a Return Visit eating again 😋

I’m staying at the Kessel Hotel across the street and I decided to come here for breakfast. My americano was great and so was the California breakfast sandwich. I highly recommend this place for a quick bite.

Stopped by here to take home for breakfast treats for my parents and kinda robbed the store! Super friendly family owned business with a warm welcome and lovely customer service. They were patient through all of my needs - hehe. I ended up picking up crossaint, jalopeno cheddar bagel, ginger and something scone, carrot cake cupcake, salted caramel chocolate cake (mini 4"), and crumble bar. The only thing I ended up trying for now is the peanut butter cookie with raspberry filling and MY GOODNESS, I sure have been missing out on the right cookies! Crunchy on the exterior, soft in the middle, and the raspberry was a nice touch - something a little different from other places. Can't wait to be back to try other cookies and more!

Great tasting sandwiches. Got tuna on everythang bagel with a shmere this time. So good! Pastries are unique flavors and well made. Come early because treats usually sell quick.

Sweet Bar Bakery is fantastic! They were able to make a cake same day for my father's birthday and deliver it. The salted caramel chocolate cake looked fantastic and made everyone really happy.
