There’s always something new and interesting to check out in the tasting room, and the bottle shop has tons of variety.

Staff is super knowledgeable with a warm and helpful attitude. I really like this place and joined the wine club so I’ll have a reason to keep coming back.

This place is fantastic. A surprisingly good variety and selection of wines for such a modest-sized shop. The staff was amazing, patiently helped me pick out some wines for a wine pairing party. The wines were in budget and tasted great-- got lots of compliments. Glad to have found this gem!

I've never encountered such helpful staff in a wine store. Not only do they have a whole table of <$15 bottles, but the woman in charge listened to my meal plans and budget and then actively recommended wines from that table. Most other wine stores will just wave budget customers towards the bin with little interest. Her recommendations were terrific and original. I was very impressed.

Oakland Yard has been a mainstay of my East Bay experience for over a year now and I couldn’t be more complimentary. The atmosphere inside is cozy and you can enjoy a glass of wine while bringing in your own food. Their wine club is a fantastic deal and has opened my eyes to many delicious bottles that I’ve gone back for. The prices are reasonable and you can absolutely pick up a bottle for a friend’s dinner without breaking the bank. And the owners and staff are just the loveliest people. We never want to buy wine from anywhere else! My wife and I had to downsize our wedding and knew that we only wanted our wine for the day from here and they made us feel extra special!

Best wine shop with the best selection and best owners/staff! It's not only a shop but an exquisite wine bar with by-the-glass and tasting flights changing frequently. The monthly wine club is so fun with the pick-up parties and interesting selections from all over the world that often feature varietals I have never or rarely heard of. In short, Oakland Yard has made me a more educated wine drinker and more relaxed human! Thanks for coming to the neighborhood.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Excellent selection and super helpful owners/staff. These guys clearly work hard to find the best deals in wine. And the wine club has introduced me to many fantastic bottles I would have never known about. Even if you're not a "wine" person, go check them out. Get something off the $15 shelf- I promise you'll be impressed.

Best wine shop in Oakland. Friendly owners + staff + dog. Great selection of affordable $10+ wines, lovely flights and by-the-glass options. I recommend following them on IG as they'll post which region they're offering flights from in advance. If you know nothing about wine there is no pretentiousness or intimidation to worry about. Great place to spend an afternoon. There's also a wine club!

I feel so lucky that Oakland Yard is right in my neighborhood since it is the best wine shop in Oakland. They have a great selection of unique wines, both imported and Californian, with a beautiful collection of natural and biodynamic wines. The owners are absolutely fantastic and helpful as well, it is always such a pleasure to come back. Highly recommend!

Amazing wine shop with a lot of obscure wines from around the world (far superior selection to any of the local grocery or chain liquor stores). They now have an online bottle shop or you can contact them and tell them your budget and let them pick out wines for you. I've done that twice and both times it has not disappointed. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable too. Pre-COVID they did in-store tastings and hopefully that can return one day!

You'll never find better people. The moment I walked into their beautiful little shop, I was blown away by how it felt like a place where a community would come together because the owners were so welcoming and helpful.

Daniel and Max are the friendliest, warmest people, always greeting you with a smile and genuine interest in getting to know you. Any time I am there, I just want to stay and hang with them which, thankfully, I can do because they have wine tastings on offer, too.

Most wines are in the $15-25 range, which means you can go back often to bask in the glow of their wonderful hearts while you have a flight or just pick out a bottle for dinner that night.

Don't buy your wine anywhere else. Support these lovely humans by shopping local. Go early, go often!

I have to say that this is my favorite place to buy wine, or just grab a glass after work (yes, you can drink here too!!). First, the owners, Max and Daniel, are about the nicest people you will ever meet. Plus, they actually know what they are talking about. From the moment they ask if they can help you with anything, you know that they genuinely want to help you find a great wine in your price range, and not just make a sale.

Also, they have a selection of wines that you won't find in most places. The prices range from under $15 a bottle (they have a whole table of them) to upwards of $200 a bottle. I would say most are in the $15 - $30 range.

I just love this place. Also, they just held tastings where all of the proceeds went to support people displaced by the Napa and Sonoma fires. It is a true community spot.

Wide selection of wines from around the world. If you wanna spend money on a fancy bottle, you can. But they also have a GREAT selection of bottles from $15-20. Very kind and helpful. Best wine merchant in Oakland.

Oakland Yard is my neighborhood shop, and I couldn’t be more grateful. As a splurge we are wine club members, and it’s such a special treat every month. Thank you daniel and max for being the kindest.

Fun unpretentious wine shop that carries a unique variety of selections. We had the little Frances chenin Blanc, and the Folk Machine valdigue both were fantastic. The music playing was punkish but not off putting. I'll be back!
