Boichik Bagels

I finally understand what the hype and awards are about when it comes to Boichik Bagels, this place was delicious! The bagel quality here definitely matches those on the east coast so I’m glad to have found a local bagel spot for the future.

I came on a weekend morning and as expected there was a line and a bit of a wait but it wasn’t too bad. They set the shop up so that you ordered and waited outside for food only.

Definitely recommend the classic sandwich if you’re hungry. It’s a traditional lox and cream cheese bagel. However next time I visit I would probably just buy a few plain bagels and a tub of cream cheese instead as it’s more economical.

The bagel was nicely chewy on the inside and toasty on the outside as you want. I wish it were a little bigger but quality over quantity here. My new go to for bagels in the Bay Area and it’s in one of my favorite little shopping areas!

For many years, San Francisco and Oakland have had wonderful bakeries but lacked the ability to make delicious bagels! That changed when Boichik Bagels opened up their bagel bakeries! We had heard about their fantastic bagels but being from New York City we were skeptical that any bagel shop in Oakland could compete with any of our local bakeries. Well, I’m happy to report that BOICHIK Bagels are absolutely as good if not better than our favorite NYC bagel shops!

this place makes really good bagels and it’s located in a very cute spot in berkeley. there are lots of cafes and shops nearby as well as a small plaza where you can sit and enjoy your bagel, granted it’s not too crowded. the shop itself is quite small, without seating, but all of the nearby public seating in the area makes up for it, i think. the bagels themselves are very good. the ingredients taste fresh and the cream cheese is spread liberally. i have been here twice now and i plan to come back! it is by no means cheap, but to come here every so often and have a delicious bagel is worth the elevated price. i also quite like the ice coffee.

After a long wait, finally got to try this place. The actual wait to get my bagel sandwich wasn’t too bad. The bagel is likely one of the best I’ve - perfect texture, not too light, not too chewy, excellent flavor. Their sandwich options are pretty standard, but they are very generous. At $8 for a toasted everything bagel, with cream cheese, tomato, red onion, & avocado this is an excellent weekend treat; however, I don’t think I will ever purchase a dozen bagels for $33.

Best bagels in the bay! I live in LA so I had high expectations going here. The bagels were perfect and I will for sure come back when I am in the area again. Surprisingly, the line went quicker than I thought.

There is no competition! With it being walking distance from my house, it is an absolute must visit for everyone who comes over. I take everyone to Boichik and brag about my luck in being so close to the best bagels I’ve ever had! I get bagels every single weekend because it’s impossible to go a week without them. Don’t even think about it, if you want a bagel in the Bay Area, you have to go here.

Boichik bagels are so good! Fresh, chewy, and such good cream cheese, 10/10. I got the eggy thing and the everything bagel both were superb! a must-try for any bagel lover! worth the trek if your coming from sf - please note this place does not have your typical breakfast bagel sandwich.

I had and would suggest a "classic" everything bagel with lox, tomatoes, onion, cream cheese and capers which was amazing. 😍

Best Berkeley bagelry is Boichick. Only problem is queuing. They need a fast pass program. While the line goes around the corner on a Saturday morning at 1000, it does move quick with two tellers. The staff inside keep up fairly well after order is taken. I get bagel only and add honey smoked salmon plus other toppings

We had picked up an order for a pre wedding breakfast for the women in the bridal party and there was a problem with the packaging of the lox. Julia personally delivered the replacement item and we were so appreciative. Not only are the bagels the best but so are the people!

The line was plenty long but the bagel I had was excellent, on par with what I've had in New York. Soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, not too thick or doughy.

I had a pumpernickel with lox, caper, onions and heirloom tomatoes. I was a little surprised at the salt crystals on top of the bagel but maybe it's supposed to be this way?

Love everything here! The bagels are fantastic and I end up bringing them to people outside the area because they're that good!

Some of the best bagels I’ve tried in the Bay Area! I got the daily special (lox cream cheese, cucumber, sprouts) on a sesame bagel and it was delicious. The wait is honestly not that bad- although the line was long when I got there, I waited less than 20 since they work pretty quick.

These long awaited bagels did not disappoint. We could have done without the line around the corner, but then again, we probably shouldn't have gone at peak time on a Saturday. The menu was refreshingly simple - just classic bagel flavors, a few cream cheese choices and coffee. But they've definitely got the crispy outside with the light, but not bready inside down - a rarity in the Bay Area.

Amazing bagels! The best NY style you'll find in the bay, with a caramelized, crispy outside and bready inside. Sometimes NY style bagels end up feeling spongy and needlessly huge, but these are just right. The spreads are delicious too! Highly recommend the horseradish cheddar and scallion.

Best bagels in SF Bay Area; go early before they run out. Line looks long but they are very efficient so it goes quickly. Reminds me of back east!

Good things are worth the wait, and you know... if you get there early there’s barely a line!

Get all the bagels. All the spreads, and go often! So freaking happy this place exists, because after moving here from the East Coast I was beginning to lose my faith in the bagel community here in the Bay. Now there really are good bagels in Berkeley.

These are indeed the most New York-ish bagels you can find in the Bay area. At $3 a bagel ($2.75 each for a dozen), they're price... but worth it, I think. Often long lines and frequently sell out before noon, get there early and prepare to wait.

This is a really good bagel. It has a good malt flavor, good chew, with a nice crust. My one complaint: the sesame bagel had like 5 sesame seeds on it, I need more sesame! The cream cheese is on the soft side, which is fine and perfectly tasty (I got it untoasted).

And for people complaining about $3 for a bagel.... y’all go make your own and see how complicated it is. You’re paying for a quality product made with quality ingredients
