Stay Gold Deli

I lived in Austin for a long time, so I'm familiar with the style Stay Gold is aiming for. They do a good job! I wouldn't rate it top tier vs some of the places you have around Central Texas, but it's solid.

Huge portion of really good brisket! I was actually surprised how much meat I got for the price. Very generous, especially by Bay Area standards!

The only minus I would give them is: I'd prefer more onion. But that's a minor quibble.

So the food is great.

Also I give this place a top atmosphere rating. It's down to earth and unpretentious, a genuine dive.

As a bonus, they host live music and--one of the best events in the Bay--Oakland Drunken Film Festival.

The food was amazing. As a southerner, I approve of the bbq. Especially the brisket. The salad looks simple but it’s delicious. The po boys are great. The only thing that was “just ok” would be the max and cheese. The outdoor area was big with plenty of seating.

Nice little spot with a back patio and great sandwiches. They have a few delicious vegan options (using tofu) and lots of draft beer. I’ve gotten delivery too and the sandwiches hold up relatively well.
It’s a laid back more grungy vibe. They occasionally host metal shows and karaoke.

I uber the Bay area, Oakland & Berkely mostly, and why I've never walked in this place before idk. I am super into rock & the punk scene, but I never find time to stop and meet anyone new.

Well just a random Tursday in April and a live punk band happened to play in their little staging area. (8pm) Pretty cool!

I ordered the "all that and then some" sandwich, which notably had pork belly. It was nice for what it was... but around $19 for the sandwich. The Mac & Cheese was cool with huge shells, but the sauce was a bit Velveeta- esk.

Though I enjoyed the sandwich I got it was just a bit high on the price tag, but I think it was meant to be given all that it's supposed to have. Next time I'll try a more simple sandwich. I'm sure it'll be great. I like the idea of the mystery sandwich.. .maybe that's what I'll do ♡

In the end, I am so glad I stopped in! I have never been to a punk show before as much as I love the music. I'll Def find my way more often.

It is hard to find a place that does a good brisket. This place hit the spot the ribs and brisket were melt in your mouth. The sides were good. I will definitely be back and they have to vegetarian sandwiches that look worth a try.

The food is very delicious and full of flavor. Customer Service is excellent atmosphere is great and they have pinball machines.

Very good central Texas-style barbecue, as promised! The restaurant is pretty straightforward and leans heavily into a variety of meats, sides, and sandwiches.

Adorable BBQ place in west Oakland. A bit grungy and I’ve been wanting to try it out for a while especially now with Horn having huge lines. Awesome lunch spot or happy hour outdoor hang out spot. Tried the Riblet sandwich and the Spicy jalapeños brisket sandwich. Loved the riblet, super messy and very mouth watering delicious 😋 would recommend and will try the plates next.

Phenomenal food. The venue is just okay, very limited seating. Very friendly service. The brisket was a little too oily for my liking put the ribs are fall off the bone perfection. Good sides, too

This place may actually be the best BBQ joint in Oakland in terms of quality AND price...which is next to impossible to find now days for BBQ. The brisket and ribs are very good. Their beans are good and the greens are alright. Only side I didn't like was the Mac and cheese.

Anyways...this is probably going to be my new BBQ go to spot since their meats are really good and they aren't charging an arm and a leg. I look forward to trying their sandwiches as I work my way through their menu.

The pork belly and pickle sandwich is the best sandwich in the east bay if you like it crispy, fatty, and flavorful. Delicious and light dressing on the shredded lettuce with awesome outdoor seating.

Food is awesome and won't empty your wallet. Had the 2 meat platter brisket and pulled pork with coleslaw everything was spot on very very good.

First time here, joined a friend who works nearby and has been here a few times. Got the pulled pork sammy, it practically melted in my mouth. So delicious, hope to be back soon.

Addendum: have been back multiple times and have had several different sandwiches at this point (pulled pork, brisket, meatball, italian) and they're all recommended. Also the jukebox is tops. Somebody there definitely likes Pavement.

Also, just realized they have punk and metal shows here. So cool, had no idea.

After driving by maaaaany times and wondering, what is this place and is it delicious? My boyfriend and I finally decided to give it a try on my last night in town for a while … and it did not disappoint! The pulled pork and baked beans were rich with flavor, and the rib meat was tender and melty…. Service is also stellar and there’s even in a pool table in the garden! What a boon! We came a bit late (they close at 8 on thursdays) but weren’t shooed out. Will be back soon :)

Lovely little patio, nice beers on tap, and - most importantly to me - they have robust meat AND vegan protein options!

I've been wanting to come here for a while and finally made it. The brisket plate OMGoddess! With a side of beans, slaw, fresh bread, and really good sauces. Nice size portion of meat. I'm impressed, in love, and plan to return often to try a new item on the menu each time.

Stay Gold was fantastic. The rib plate was fall off the bone wonderful. The brisket was a work of art. The vibe is nice and relaxed. I love the record wall and pinball machines. The patio area is chill with a pool tabel and water fountain. The staff are welcoming. The draft beer selection you will enjoy. I had the Berry Cider YUM.

This is one of my go-to spots when I'm not sure what to eat. Their meat platter options are fantastic, but get a little adventurous with one of the many sandwich options, and you won't be disappointed.

I order food online from them every once in a while. It's always good and they have vegan options. It's been a couple years since I last dined in. I was on a bad date at the time but it didn't deter me from enjoying the food from afar.

The neighborhood isn't nice to walk around in after a full belly of goodness but I faintly remember the atmosphere. They had a small deli section at one point but I don't know if it's still there. Maybe I'll come to dine in some time in the near future.

My friends been begging me to drive from San Francisco over to Oakland to check out this barbecue restaurant stay Gold I finally made it everything I had was excellent this is a place where I will return in a hot minute
