This hotel has such an amazing, genuinely caring and accommodating staff. I’m A regular Choice Hotel client and I am in hotels for a few days every month. I get such a great care here at the Washington Inn.
The Washington Inn is across the street from the Marriott hotel. I have no desire whatsoever to stay at the Marriott instead of the Washington Inn period this hotel is so charming and has such character. Each room just gives you a great feeling being here. It was built in 1913, and I just love visiting a part of history here.
As a rule when I go into any hotel I’ll clean it to my specs each and every time upon entrance of the door on every surface I sanitize. Each and every time I’ve come to the Washington Inn, my white cleaning cloths have been absolutely spotless. Not even visible dust. The linen on the bed including the blanket and duvet cover is freshly laundered. And let me tell you that does not happen at other hotels. The housekeeping staff is phenomenal absolutely phenomenal. And you feel as if the air is clean. At this point if I were to find some dust there would be not one word I would say about it because they are very thorough with being sanitary in each room. And I have stayed in several of these rooms, because I choose not to go anywhere else when I come to this area of Oakland . If you can’t tell yet I am a very very satisfied customer. I just love it.

Historic hotel. So if your looking for modern it's not here. Came for 1 night and have been for 3 more.
Rooms are not big but the king suite has a separate living room. It is very clean, thank you to housekeeping.
Front desk s helpful and friendly. If ever in Oakland again I will come back.

Not my normal hotel experience. Well loved building. Clean, but it has character (not everything is new, but it all works and decorated). There's a hustle and bustle in the neighborhood thats a cool vibe, though I was glad I packed earplugs since I'm a light sleeper. Hosting staff was friendly and willing to chat. My single room was smaller than what I'm used to, but I pack light so I liked it. It really feels local and welcoming and it's in a great food and bar location.

This has been the 6th time I have stayed at the Washington Inn between 2008 and 2021.

This is a small, cute quaint hotel. I have always enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are perfect size for just me. They are always clean, and comfortable. The decory is simple, and cozy.

I LOVE IT!

We stayed this last weekend, staff was super friendly and accommodating, we we're able to check in early after our flight due to availability, our room bathroom had an issue and they handled it perfectly by getting us another room, I'm sure we'll be back for more Live and Outside shows next door, it's super convenient!

Quaintly situated beneath the shadow of the Marriott in downtown Oakland, it has become my favorite hotel in the Bay Area. The desk help is always quick and no-nonsense. I love the room furnishings and the prices are drastically cheaper than what you’d expect. You’ll miss it if you’re not looking for it!

Have stayed there 2x. Hotel is old style but that is its charm. No frills, small rooms, bathroom sinks outside the bathroom, narrow old staircase, beautiful old bar, sketchy old elevator. Close to BART. Decent prices. Would stay there anytime.

Reading most of the negative statements it's hard to believe they were speaking of the same hotel. I stay each time I go to Oakland for business. The stay is comfortable, there are tables to eat and a year ago the had chairs n this ottoman looking tables u can eat ur more then continental breakfast while u watch the tv and food has always been fresh n everything clean. All the rooms I have stayed in is clean n well stocked with towels and other assencials. Ya the elevator is a old school style but always worked n I personally enjoy the iron art inside. People has always bn very helpful....so again I really wonder where these people go to.

Historic building with modern upgrades. Very clean and nice staff. Only downside was we went to have a drink at the bar downstairs in the lobby and there was never a bartender on duty. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed at the Washington Inn for three nights from September 28 thru Oct 1, 2013. The hotel is quaint, clean, and stylish. The counter persons, were kind, courteous, helpful, and genuinely pleasant. Thomas went out of his way to address my concerns, ensured my reservation, and held a parking pass for me. Taran was equally as attentive and helpful as was the young man on the evening crew. Even the cleaning staff was overly accommodating. The suite(#406/nice view) was immaculate, reasonably priced at $114, and the air conditioner was full blast cold. The shower, toilet, and the carpet had no visible stains and the bed and bath linen were pristine and clean. There was a minifrig, a microwave, an iron and ironing board, a sofa, and desk and chair. As for the cable lineup, it was more than adequate and the internet worked fine (could be a little faster, but hey, it was free). The continental breakfast (muffins, cereal, orange juice, coffee, toast) was tasty and fresh, each day.

For some of the bad reviews I've read on the hotel, nothing could be further from the truth. The staff obviously takes pride in the hotel and it shows. Take it from me....this place is centrally located, professionally staffed, reasonably priced, and exudes a certain charm that put me in the mind of an old Parisian hotel. I simply can't say enough. I will stay here ever time I visit the Bay Area and recommend it to friends and family, for both business and pleasure.

As for the neighborhood area, its no more the Washington Inn's problem than it is the Marriott, which is on the same street. Be smart, attentive, and safe whatever city you're visiting, and you'll enjoy your stay. Oakland is no different from San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, or Atlanta, it's full of people and characters of every type and not without it problems or unique charm. The Washington Inn is a gem, don't miss out by staying at the larger hotel chains.....you simply would have paid too much.

It's right at Jack London square and the part of Oakland that I actually do like to visit. It's very clean, the prices are cheap because of the pandemic, the staff is very professional, the rooms are high-end. It's a very good hotel

Cool place, old timey looking rooms but modern. There's a bar in the lobby which is great if you dont want to wonder around Old Oakland at night. There's also a French style lift which is cool/scary as heck.

Free breakfast 7am-9am
Parking a hassle tho. City parking is $2/hr from 8am-6pm, or the hotel has parking nearby. Lots of food places nearby.

Family members had a birthday party and it was amazing. The drinks were great and the service was even better. The staff were really nice and comical especially the bartenders.

The entire hotel has maintained its original decor and an old feel to it but looks clean and nice. The rooms were nice and comfortable
