Caffe 817

I was invited to an art exhibition by a friend of mine, Norm Fisher. The owner of Caffe 817 hosts different artists. What a clever idea to enjoy the amazing creations from a local artist and at the same time enjoy a great latte. I met the owner, and he was one of the friendliest people. I had no idea of this place before Friday. I am glad I did. My wife and I had a great time. I will definitely recommend this place for the great coffee, friendly atmosphere, and support to local artists. I highly recommend stopping by coffee and checking Norm's creations as they have a deep meaning and amazing colors. His art will be there for a few more weeks. Thanks, and enjoy. 🎨 🖼 🎭

Love this cafe - quick stop on my way to work. Delicious mocha and other espresso drinks plus yummy pastries and a cozy decor.

You have to come here. Tasty and exotic vegetarian options, with decadent bakery options and great lattes. It's kind of exactly what you want in a cafe.

A cute cafe, with a nice atmosphere and super good toast dishes. Don’t be fooled, their toast packs a lot of flavor, one I ordered had a lot of garlic flavor and mixed with my prosciutto and egg was delicious. The staff is always prompt and nice too.

This cute cafe has indoor and outdoor seating and lots of great breakfast/lunch options. I tried the bagel with cream cheese +avocado along with their cold brew coffee. All of their bagels come with capers and pickled onions (unless you request to leave them off) and it is a delicious addition! The cold brew is smooth and has a slight chocolate finish. A great find for breakfast, lunch, or a quick bite.

Food quality is good, but wait times for food on Sunday brunch is a little ridiculous. We waited 45 mins for two simple dishes. Hopefully less crowded during other times

Update (2020) - went for Saturday brunch and got my food much faster. Staff was super helpful and accommodating as well. Loved it, will return!

A co-worker and I stopped in for breakfast and were amazed at how much we liked this cafe. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, ultimately suggesting Eggs Benedict as a highly requested meal. I hate the taste of eggs but eat them for the protein. Despite this hatred, this meal was delicious. The fruit was fresh and tasted great. I will absolutely visit Cafe 817 again and highly suggest it for others to try.

Enjoyed a healthy portion of steel cut oatmeal and fresh strawberries with a dark coffee. The vibe in here is chill. The music upbeat and volumed just right you can hear yourself think or eat or work. Friendly staff. I was the 7❤. Did I mention how good the coffee tastes?

Cute vibes. Super mellow cafe with a nice patio, good coffee, and classic cafe food.

I would definitely recommend this place to hangout, do work, meet with friends, or even to get something for the road.

The area directly surrounding cafe 817 is good too, so you can walk around before/after as well.

This is our go to breakfast cafe spot in Oakland. The chai is really well done and generous, and I’ve also had some amazing lemonades. The quiche is always great, and the bagels are from Boichik so you can eat them without having to stand in line at boichik lol. Also love the polenta, and the egg salad. As you can tell, everything here is amazing, and so is the service.

These guys have the best espresso in Oakland.

Also please to find locally roasted (just this week) mr. espresso whole beans to take home.

Cute coffeeshop and cafe. Everything I've eaten there has been great. Chill atmosphere, nice staff. There's outdoor seating available and interesting, oval tables indoors.

The staff here is wonderful and patient. The food and drinks are made fresh. I love coming to this place for a relaxing experience.

God, Budda, and Allah works at this Holy shrine, temple and altar that services the soul of individuals that visit this Heavenly palace of exceptional taste for luxurious palates...

Loved the salad with feta and walnuts. They were happy to switch out regular walnuts (instead of candied). Tuna sandwich was fabulous too..Great spot all around

The avocado toast in AMAZING. Happy they have a vegan option. Also, giant lattes!

A bagel that is worthy of praise from any new york quality expectations. The lemonade had just the perfect amount of bite. Staff with the patience of saints, please do not test this, they are busy and working hard, tip well instead.

The food was soooooooo good! I wanted to eat a full meal today, so I got three items from the menu to fill up and it was so good. I got the bagel with salmon and avocado. I got a veggie quiche. And I got a granola parfait. And to drink I got a mimosa. All of that combination of food was soooooooo great!!!! I really enjoyed it. I'll for sure come back another time, when I can sit down again.

The food was pretty good. the hot chocolate and the coffee was amazing. the space is pretty tight so its definitely good for 2 people but if your party is larger its a little tough to find seating and eat comfortably. other than that its a nice hang out spot for coffee and conversation, with a nice atmosphere. This place has a great atmosphere with the jazz music and small Cafe feel. Moreover, the food and coffee were excellent! I had pouched eggs and Polenta with Parmesan cheese. The brown eggs were perfectly cooked with a velvety texture and the Polenta was smooth and creamy.
