Moxy Oakland Downtown

The Moxy is a superb choice for the entertainment district of Oakland. The hotel is clean, hip and safe. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Only a short walk to the Fox and Paramount Theatre. Lots of interesting perks like an outdoor terrace, work/study area, open floor plan bar and even a fitness center and a library themed space. Tons of great restaurants and nightlife in walking distance.

Outstanding hotel! I absolutely love staying here. Aside from the adorable and very clean rooms, the staff are friendly and the service is always GREAT!! I feel like family when I come here. This is my second home now.
Jhamaria (J) is a wonderful leader. She is professional and kind to everyone. Her leadership has created an incredible culture at this hotel. Betty had my drink waiting for me when I got downstairs. When I checked in , Anup and Rohar were there to greet me with a smile.
And in the morning, Eric and Kevin are so sweet!
I highly recommend this hotel!!! Come see their bar, play giant Jenga, and order some food. Best place in Oakland to stay by far!! (And anywhere)

I booked a room at the Marriott in downtown Oakland, and they canceled my room because of some credit card hold that didn't go through. I called Moxy, and they had a room that was perfect. They have a great bar, and they serve strong drinks. I recommend this place and will be staying there from now on.

I had an exceptional experience at Moxy Hotel in Oakland! The lobby's stylish modern art created a vibrant atmosphere, setting the tone for a unique stay. Betty, the wonderful hotel bartender, not only crafts amazing drinks but also brings joy with her constant smile and humor. The combination of artistic ambiance and Betty's outstanding customer service made my stay truly memorable. Five stars without a doubt!

Delightful modern and fun hotel close to The Fox, so perfect place to crash after a show. Cool little bar and lounge... And the price was wonderfully reasonable. Recommend to anyone needing to stay in downtown Oakland.

Great experience stayed in a moxy for the first time , we were there for the salesforce conference and they were ready for it , loved the way the rooms were very simple but practical location was convenient from San Francisco to Oakland airport. Restaurants and coffee shops were walking distance, views were not great but that’s what you expect in downtown. Lobby was set up and decorated with movie set themes and checkin counters were part of the bar something new for us .

Stayed here over the weekend, and it was great. Went to the bar and had a good flat bread pizza.

Great place to stay. The hotel staff are all really friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is awesome and offers so much. They even have bikes they can sign out to borrow for rides around town. My room had everything I needed. Will definitely come stay again

Considering all the travel reviews we post, this may be the first time we have reviewed a property we have not actually completed our stay at.
My wife and I checked into the Moxy for a two night stay earlier today. The lobby and bar area looked very cool and had a fun vibe about it. We definitely looked forward to spending some time there during our stay. Sarah and Libby assisted us at check-in at the end of the bar. Both were very friendly and professional.
Shortly after arriving at our room we realized that the location of the hotel was not convenient to the location of the event we were attending. Bad planning on our part.
Understanding that we were well outside the 24-hour cancellation policy, we returned to the front desk and asked if we had any options to cancel. Both Sarah and Libby were very understanding and took care of our cancellation needs immediately.
The high level and friendly service we received from Libby and Sarah is what continues to make the Marriott properties our only choice when traveling. Thank you!

I felt very hip staying here from the cool saying in the elevator to the saying over the bar. With that being said, wouldn’t leave a car here

I was only in the lobby, but I was quite impressed by the different type of layout.
so the registration table is a part of the bar. The bar is next to the lounge. There's a decent area for you to relax and listen to music. Definitely got a European vibe with how they went about laying out the decor an atmosphere for this hotel and the rooms don't come cheap.

The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed! This was my first time staying in Downtown Oakland, so I was a little nervous. The Security and Valet service was on point!! Made me feel very safe and I’m good hands. Queer friendly and inclusive!!

I quickly realized that the staff were top notch REAL hospitality concierge’s. The staff are super friendly and all GORGEOUS! I had a lightweight crush on one of the Valets!

I am 💯 recommending this Hotel to all my friends! This is where I will stay for all my Bay Area trainings!!

Fun and modern design. The hotel was extremely clean and located in a great location. They offer valet parking and have a bar and lounge in the lobby. We enjoyed ourselves and were welcomed with friendly service.

Great use of space. Definitely a hotel for people who have things to do and don't need the amenities of a resort. 7 min walk to BART on 19th St. Lots of great eateries within a 10 minute walk. Busy place!

The real MVP of our destination wedding: The Moxy. While our wedding was only a few hours, we stayed at the Moxy for a week, and it turned out to be our favorite part of the wedding:

As guests came and went from their Bay Area activities, we hung out in the lobby basically all day. We spent hours before the wedding arranging our centerpieces and escort cards in the Moxy Lounge, and our guests that arrived early saw us and stopped by to help. It was a great way to catch up with guests before the wedding.

On our wedding morning, they hosted a brunch for us, setting up the rooftop for us.

On our wedding night, the Moxy stayed open until 2am for us (if we agreed to spend a very reasonable minimum!), and the night continued. They put on our playlist, and our guests had a second dance party in the main area. The bartender even wore a tie that matched our wedding theme! The drinks were phenomenal, and they made the spiciest cocktail I ever had — bold and delicious, if you dare.

After the wedding, our guests who stayed late kept bumping into us in the lounge. We’re from the bay, so we decided to just stay at the Moxy all day and have friends and family come to us on their own schedule. We were never alone at the Moxy bar. We got to have real conversations with our loved ones, something we sorely missed in the chaos of a wedding.

Gidget and Remy were the dream team, helping our families and friends feel comfortable and welcome. They really turned our wedding night into a wedding week.

We took a chance and booked a room here because we had tickets to see Orville Peck at the Fox Theater in Oakland and this hotel was walking distance to the theater. Boy, we are SO HAPPY we took that chance!
First off, walking into the lobby was….FUN! Great artsy deco and really good vibes!
You check in at the bar! (Love the chill, laid-back feeling of that.)
We were happily greeted by “Jay Rana” (Director of Operations, I believe) and he and his staff were so welcoming & helpful! We got 2 free drink tokens to use at the bar as well! (Awesome!)

We loved the room! It was VERY clean, had plenty of outlets & charging stations for our devices, a comfy bed, a nice view of the city, and crisp, minimalist decor.
It’s very simplistic but all your needs are met. I really loved the large bathroom with nice lighting for getting ready for a night on the town.

The Fox Theater is literally just a couple of blocks away from the Moxy! A very short, convenient walk! No Uber needed!
When we returned from our show later that night at around 11:30pm, we were happy to see the hotel bar still open and alive with very friendly staff and patrons. David, the bartender stood out to us, he was AWESOME!

The best part of our first Moxy experience was actually the check-out. My fiancé and I both realized we were completely out of cash to tip the valet driver who retrieved our vehicle. Jay, the lovely man who checked us in, overheard me talking about this (and how upset I was) and without pause, reached into his personal wallet and handed us several dollars to give to the valet! I was blown away! The kindness from this man actually restored my faith in humans again. We had the most uplifting, beautiful conversation with Jay. We left with our hearts light & happy.
I can honestly say that I have NEVER left a hotel feeling this GOOD!
We thank you Jay Rana (and staff) for the BEST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!

great boutique hotel. friendly staff, very relaxed atmosphere. clean, contemporary rooms with great natural light and the most amazingly comfortable beds ever. tasteful interior design. bar downstairs is good fun, attracts locals and the fella that runs the bar is a wonderful host. All in all great experience here ❤

This is the second Moxy my partner and I have stayed in, and it was just as pleasant as the first! There was plenty of street parking available around the hotel, and the welcome drinks were a nice touch. The furniture and games in the lobby were appreciated, and the room and bathroom were well-decorated as well. We would stay again if we make another trip to SF!

For any first friday, or areally any stay for that matter; look no further. Amazing service, and by far the heat valet in oakland. The utmost professionalism and speed of that team is outstanding. Moxy also has an amazing bar, fantastic location and is walkable to everything. The staff always goes above and beyond, plus 3. Why stay anywhere else when the best is clear IT.
