Flashlight Books

Adorable store with excellent, well-curated books mostly for kids and teens. They also do a lot of events like author readings and collabs with local businesses - a true community establishment! When I was last in there, they had a lovely little bake sale pop-up in one corner of the store, which was wonderfully convenient as I had to pick up some treats anyway for an event later.

The two owners are both very knowledgable and are always spot-on with their recommendations. Over the years I've been shopping there, they've been able to rise to the occasion of such asks as "I have a budget of $100 that I'd like to spend on a starter set of books for newborn so please put something together," or "my 3-year-old loves narwhals and Dungeons & Dragons - what do you recommend?"

Love love love that they're indie and truly care about their customers and community, and are so thoughtful about their selections!!

I love frequenting independent bookstores, and I liked my visit to Flashlight books as well. They’re a small store so they’ve a small yet solid collection of books. It was great to see some classics on the shelves as well. They’ve a kids and YA section as well, and it was fun browsing that as well. They also sell some literary tchotchkes, which is also nice.

The lady working the register greeted us as we entered the store, so I could glean they’ve good customer service as well. They’re conveniently located in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek. Ample parking(both street and in the nearby garages) for reasonable price is available as well.

I’ll be back here when I’m in the Walnut Creek area. Support your independent bookstores! Visit them, buy from them, get involved! :)

Flashlight books is awesome! I recently shopped in here for a gift for my young nephew. I really like their selection, as there are a lot of modern books! It was so much fun looking at everything they have and means a lot to have a small local bookstore in downtown Walnut Creek ❤😊

This is a super cute bookstore! The selection is nice, the staff are friendly, and they have some AMAZING candles (very creative and comforting scents). There’s also a cute kids’ section!

Wonderful independent book store with gifts and trinkets for any occasion too.

After most bookstores have closed, we sure needed one in WC. Crown Books closed many years ago. Barnes and Nobles, I still miss the WC location, great place to hang out. So, the other day I was walking around, what, am I seeing things? Is this real? Yes, it really is. A wonderful little bookstore in WC, maybe when my book comes out next year, I could show them my book. Please stay in business!! Excellent service.

Bright, cheery store and terrific, knowledgeable, well-read staff. Great to have such an extensive children’s book department to serve that large segment of Walnut Creek. If they don’t happen to have the book you want in stock, you can order books and frequently get them as fast or faster than from Amazon.

Lovely store, great kids selection. Restroom has a good changing table and wipes.

I clef and asked for specific topics to Children's Books. They had several that they bunched for me and even ordered one that took just five days to get in. I am so pleased with this lil shop that I will never go I tobig retail for books again.

Wow, this is a gem of a bookstore! What better place to bring your kids for an afternoon? There's plenty of places for children to read, play, color or just chill. They're story-time events and they even carry a well curated indie collection of adult books! Love this place ❤♥.

Love this bookstore. It has a great ya section and the staff is very friendly. I’ve bought a book and then sat in the store reading it for an hour or so because the atmosphere is so nice. I highly recommend.

This is a great bookstore for kids books. We went there to get a birthday present for my nephew and the salesperson was extremely helpful with finding exactly what we wanted. They even gift wrapped the book!

Great local bookstore and they will order any book for you if they don’t have it in the store. So much better than ordering online and they have a reward system so you can receive money off your purchases. Support local businesses!

Great indie bookstore to Walnut Creek. The store was still in development when I stopped by (opening weekend), but excellent staff and awesome curated collection. More geared for younger audience at the moment.

I was able to easily order a book from their warehouse for my Dad's birthday since I'm in Chicago, they even wrapped it without asking since I mentioned it was a birthday gift. This is why you buy local
