Modern Animal

We wanted to try Modern Animal bc it’s close and we have 2 cats who do not do well traveling. We were very well taken care of by our tech for the visit, Alex, who took time to request records from our previous vet, explain pricing, treatment plan and options. Dr. Yang was very thorough and explained everything we needed to know, while also being friendly and funny! The cats took well to the techs and overall it was as painless as a vaccine update can be. Usually it’s very confusing and after a vet appt everything is a bit unclear, but not the case at all here.

We LOVE Modern Animal!! Booking an appointment is so easy through the app, and they always have availability for me to choose from. I love the chat feature - the other day I was messaging them at 6 AM and was able to get an urgent care appointment at 9 AM. My dog loves going there, and I enjoy the experience as well, as they always offer me a beverage!

I’m a new puppy mom and we had our first puppy check-up recently and I was pleasantly surprised and blown away by the care, service and kindness of the Modern Animal staff towards me and my pup! It was a DREAM first experience. The facility is stunning and clean, they made my pup feel happy and excited to be there while he got his check-up. The membership option is genius and pays for itself, especially with my new pup. I am SO so happy that I’ve chosen Modern Animal as my vet, I look forward to our next appointments. Not to mention the ease of the use of the app and the amazing 24/7 chat service. Ii cannot recommend them enough!

Efficient. Clean. Professional. Organized. Flexible about scheduling. On time with appointment. Clear feedback. Fair pricing. Caring and sensitive with my pet. Excellent service both in front and in back of house. Allowed me to remain in the room with my cat for most of the visit, which I highly value. A doctor also called me, promptly, with a concern about certain labs. He was also kind, compassionate, articulate, clear, etc. All the good things.

Modern Animal is great and I love Dr. Shim and the super nice techs. I use the Playa Vista clinic and because they have multiple locations it’s also easy to schedule a visit at another location if needed at the last minute with the app. It’s very clean and they do all the exams and shots with me in the room instead of taking my pets away into the back like other vets.

Update after going here a few times now. Vet visits are usually very stressful, and I wanted an experience that was as calm as possible for both me and my cats. I've been here probably 10 times now, and every visit has been great.

You get a little welcome gift with toys for your pets. For my cats it has been cute little catnip toys.

The vets here are really wonderful and all of the staff is extremely attentive.

wish our human healthcare system was as convenient, efficient, and thorough. my kitty has been suffering from asthma for a little while and took him here for a second opinion. I was so pleasantly surprised by the clean aesthetics, kind attitude, and transparency this clinic presents. they patiently explained to me what my cat might be going through, how I could do to help, and any treatment that he might need. As a first time cat parent I felt helpless when my cat got sick, but the team at MA really took their time to address my concerns. They were also quite gentle handling my fur baby. the whole experience was so pleasant that my cat didn’t even realize he had gone to the vet!

I have been desperately trying to find a nice vet where I didn’t feel ripped off and the service was good. This place has everything- from the cold brew offered when you arrive to the tele-doc option. I am so excited to have joined.

I'm amazed at how good the doctors and service are. The 24x7 access to vet techs is also super helpful. And they don't prescribe unnecessary procedures or meds. Much much better than our previous vet.

My dogs trail wagged the whole time....that has NEVER happened during a very visit. My aussie doodle gets extremely anxious the second he figures out he's at the vet's....until now. I'm a modern mom forever!

First visit down! Super clean facility, easy to use app, lovely and kind doctor, and what an attentive staff! We can’t ask for better than that, we are so happy we switched to this veterinarian! They even gave us a welcome note and toy bone for Finn! Thank you to this team, we’re so happy to have excellent care for our puppy!

I've been to the Culver City location and the Playa Vista one and my experience at both were fantastic. The ease of communication via the App is amazing- I love the chat option vs having to call in for things that don't need immediate attention. I also love seeing detailed notes and info about each visit and what was discussed in the App. Sometimes it's a lot of information and having that to go back and reference is really great. I highly recommend Modern Animal and so glad we joined. Can't wait for the West LA clinic to open.

When I signed up I had the expectation that they wouldn't be all they were cracked up to be. Unlimited access to appointments and to vet staff (via their app) I am so happy I was wrong. I signed my dog up in mid-2022 and we had to bounce around a bit until they opened an office that was easy to get to from Santa Monica - Once the Playa Vista office opened I was so relieved to find that they are awesome! For regular visits they're usually available within a week or two, and for emergencies they've always been quick to schedule urgent care visits the next day when there was an urgent issue with my boxer. The office has 2 dedicated parking spaces directly in front of their offices which makes it so convenient to get your pet in and out. Everyone there will make you feel like your pet is the cutest thing they've ever seen. The entire staff is caring and knowledgeable. I feel like they're as close as it gets to having a personal veterinarian 24/7. If you have something come up and you need to ask them a question, they are quick to respond on their app. Our last vet was great but his office was impossible to get in touch with, even just to make an appointment. Modern Animal has been the complete opposite: Totally available and incredibly helpful. Today I needed to get more information on a condition the vet mentioned the last time I talked to her, and within 3 minutes of starting a chat, they gave me the answer I needed. I've been to the West Hollywood office and the Culver City office, but I'm so happy to have Modern Animal in Playa as our go-to vet!

I cannot say enough good things about Modern Animal. I was SO excited when this location opened, as it’s only 8 minutes away from me. I have been in twice so far, and both times my experience was phenomenal. For my fur baby’s initial appointment, the vet and her assistant spent a lot of time talking with me. They didn’t rush me through my appointment at all, which I really appreciated. We had a thorough conversation and she was able to offer a successful solution to some ongoing issues we’ve been having with separation anxiety, which has taken a huge load off my shoulders. Our second visit was a tech appointment, which was very efficient and easy. We were in and out with no problems and received friendly service. The app experience is AMAZING. Our previous vet did absolutely NOTHING online, so the app is such a HUGE plus for me. It makes booking appointments, viewing records and refilling medications as easy as possible. I have also used the chat feature to chat with a tech and had a great experience getting my questions answered. Another huge plus I want to mention — at our previous vet, they were completely overloaded and constantly on a 2-3 week wait time for appointments. Even when my fur baby was sick! Because of the membership structure here, I am able to get an appointment within a couple days. LOVE THAT. I am so, so happy we moved over to Modern Animal. Best decision ever!

Super kind staff who went out of their way to make our elderly dog comfortable. Wonderful service with all exams included in the membership price. So happy we were recommended by Josh at Kriser’s pet shop in Venice.

Our pup Berkeley absolutely loves Modern Animal and Dr. Bonnell! The new location in Playa Vista is beautiful -- great staff, great space, great concept. Super convenient, easy parking, and always a fun experience for both me (with delicious drinks!) and for Berkeley.

Modern Animal was a great vet experience. Even though my dog didn’t want to be there, our vet tech Anthony handled her with such care and really put in the effort to get the exam done. He even gave her a toy because she was so stressed out. Not even a week later we already went for a happy visit and they were so patient with her. I’m glad we live close to a Modern Animal!

Dr. Bonnell was the best! She was extremely attentive, patient, and explained everything she had in mind for my puppy. I highly recommend her and the clinic. The space and staff are awesome! Everyone is extremely nice and capable. Will never go back to VCA ever again!!

Everyone here is super friendly and accomadating - I have an extremely fearful pup who is afraid of vets/groomers and while it wasn't a smooth ride for her, the Dr. and staff were so calm and experienced in dealing with fearful pets. The office itself is relaxing and calm and it was the most pleasurable experience I've had for a vet visit!
