Althea's Footwear

The Podiatrist at American Lake VA sent us to Althea's Footwear to be measured for custom inserts & 2 pair of shoes. The staff is the BEST EVER!! This was my initial visit so I had no idea what to expect. Yes, there was "The Paperwork" ~ but it was only 1 page! The store was very busy. Seemed like "at the mall" busy but without the chaos!😊 Pam is the "Staff person" that is in charge of my case ~ I mean order. 🤔 She's a professional who puts you (me) immediately at ease because she is sooooo knowledgeable & has a great sense of humor.😏😏 After explaining "the processes" (as well as patiently answering my many questions) Pam scanned each foot. The digital image allows the computer to take care of the custom orthotics. Next ~ choose my 2 pair of shoes! So many shoes! Pam's knowledge & guidance helped me quickly make my choices. All should be ready in about 4-5 weeks, UGH!! Pam will ensure the orthotics are a true custom fit for my feet & will fit properly into my NEW SLIP-ON shoes! I can't wait to slip into my "properly fitting" shoes (with it's properly/custom made insert)😏😇 It will no longer be a project to put my shoes on & walk ~ pain free. Althea's has been my go to for quality shoes for 6 years. The service is exceptional and the selection is trendy. I also appreciate the cobbler style fittings for my feet issues. Thanks to Bill I can walk without pain. That's a big deal! We drive to Lakewood to get the custom care of which Althea's is famous. I found these Hoka's and they're the most comfortable walking shoes I've ever worn😊

Took my nephew there for shoes as he has wide feet and needed to have a professional do this.
He came to visit with size 13 shoes and he actually wears a size 10.5 W! He is so happy with the way they fit, the comfort and looks.
While there, I took advantage and had my older son fitted for a pair of shoes that would work best for him. He had a major stroke and needed shoes that will last longer than 3 to 4 months. He really likes the pair he chose. He said they are very comfortable.
They had a fabulous pair of women's summer shoes and I picked up a pair for me. Love them so much that I've ordered another pair in a different color!
Your going to pay more, but your paying for quality and knowledge. It's well worth the investment.

I came in and explained what I needed and the sales person took time to ask questions and helped me choose the best shoe after trying on several pairs. I will definitely go there again.

The workers were very helpful and polite. I will come back when I can. If a brand you like is popular, you may not get it, but that is with anything. I did buy a pair of Hoka Clifton 9s and a pair of the their slides. I only saw two colors, black and orange on display. I would have liked to know about other color options, but since it wasn't on display, I did not bother.

I went here to find a pair of Lems, and they actually have employees that wear them and could answer some of my use questions from first hand experience. It made the whole experience much better than shopping online, plus it's great to support local business.

A big shout out to Althea's in Lakewood. I tried on a number of shoes without finding the fit I wanted. However, the gentleman assisting me found a way to help me wear my current shoes more comfortably and would not take payment for his efforts. That's customer-focused service!

I always thought this place was just for people that had really bad feet. But when I took my mama their I found the most amazing shoes. Yes it helps those that do have bad feet but also they have cute shoes. I bought me a pair and now buying rain boots in which I tried on and they were so comfortable. So if you want a great shoe and you are looking for comfort Althea is the place. Expensive but worth every damn dollar. Spoil your feet.

This place has shoes that will help your feet, legs and back.

An employee named Brooke was extremely helpful and patient. I came looking for a specific shoe and when that one didn't work, she made a suggestion that turned out to be excellent. Seemed to have a lot of knowledge about the feet and back and for whom certain kinds of shoes will work.

She and the store are both great.

This place solved my foot problems I have suffered since 2011 after a bad surgery by the Veterans administration my back my body is just been lopsided and I haven't found a place that would fit me with the right shoes and inserts until now! If you have foot problems go see these people you will be happy you will be out of pain you will be change your life it will change your life thank you greatest place ever!

This place is incredible! I have had foot pain for years and have a very hard time finding shoes that fit well. Their knowledge and exceptional customer service is superior to any other business I know of! I came away happy and am now able to work for a 10 hr shift on my feet, which is amazing.

If you've never been to Althea's before, you're in for a real treat. I've been needing a new pair of running shoes for the past year but have yet to find a pair I felt comfortable investing in, so I went in to Althea's last weekend to see if Bill could help me out. I was so impressed with not only the personable customer service he provided, but also with his determination to help me find what I was looking for, not to just make a sale. He had me walk across an electronic mat that measured my arch and shoe size perfectly in a matter of seconds! Not only did he help me find a pair of shoes I totally loved, but he educated me on how shoes should fit and the different types of arch support and how width can make a difference. Even though they didn’t have my select size and choice of shoe, he ordered it for me with no money owed until I make sure I like the shoe when it arrives to their store. Bill is the best!!

There's a lost art where the shoe salesman treats you like you were meant to be a customer there. My friend Bill here really impressed me when I walked in looking for some inserts for my shoes. The service is beyond excellent. Their selection is great and I'm happy we wondered in here while visiting family for the week. Wish I could give more stars.

This is a great place for any type of work or play footwear. The service is WONDERFUL!! I went in AGAIN looking for a shoe for work, and Bill was wonderful as always.
