Muir Woods Panoramic trail

Nice 3.5 miles loop. 300 feet drop down to the fern creek. Lush redwoods with multiple creek crossings. On Nov 15 the weather was very nice - in the mid 60's.

Take a hike up the trail from the main forest floor and get up to the panoramic trail and rise up over the forests tall Redwoods and spruce trees drop back down and walk along the stream and the ferns und the big Trees

Beautiful view of the Redwood forest below. Down about 700ft and then back, with stairs. The upper lot has 2 latrines but requires a short roadside walk to access the trail. Free parking.

My friends and I went there to see super bloom. Didn't see it but the trail was wonderful. Did some hiking instead 😀

This hike was intense. You start by walking downhill and then it’s all stairs going back up. The creek is nice at the bottom. There are portable potty’s on the parking lot. Very good hike.

This has to be the most scenic trail I have ever been on. Great weather for August, was 65°F at the top when we were there. Amazing. We took the trail all the way down to Muir Woods. Almost 5 miles round trip. Three adults and 2 kids made the trip in 3-4 hours. You go downhill at first, then climb back up. Good well kept, and defined trails. Just watch out for roots. A good pair of hiking shoes will help you a lot on steeper areas. Saw some lizards towards the top of the trail on some rocks. Saw a deer family at the bottom in Muir Woods. Lots of chipmunks by the gift shop area.

The gift shop closes at 5pm in Muir Woods. Missed it by a few minutes, so no snacks for the trip back up...
Drought and water shortages, had most of the bathrooms closed.

The climb back up had some steep parts but wasn't too bad. Once you get to the top of the trail you could walk over to Mountain Home Inn and get some food there. They have a pretty good selection of food. Good views of both sides of mount Tamalpais from the outdoor seating area.

It was a good hike. I started up there and walked down. There are more trails to follow. And you can make it as long as you want. Recommend it.
