Morning Sun Trailhead

Great STEEP trail from highway 101 up to the larger Marin train systems. This train will connect all the way to the Pacific Ocean, but the first .4 miles are right up a hill with numerous switchbacks and stairs.
The views are great of the bay while you go up and there is a park and ride parking lot at the bottom
No dogs or bikes

It was so windy but so magical up here
One minute you still hear the highway, the next you're in the clouds and hearing only the ocean-wave-like music of the leaves in the wind.
No washroom; usually pretty short on parking spots cuz of the bus/Caltrain access

A beautiful trail and nice view from the top. The steps are steep but a good hike to the top. There are a lot of adjoining trails. A nice way to spend the day.

A great connection to the Marin Headlands network of trails. Excited to learn that this is accessible by foot from Sausalito. Straight up 1 mile to reach this trail head from the water. I post my hikes on all trails and on IG @mezza9art

Gorgeous day for a Marin Headlands hike. If you are up for it, just bring plenty of water and watch for the abundant poison oak along many of the single track paths.

Great access to the Marin Headlands without having to go through the tunnel or deal with tourists by the Golden Gate Bridge. You have to climb 350ft in 0.3mi to get up to the ridge line, but the views are worth it.

Excellent! Make sure to bring a windbreaker because there is a crazy wind tunnel as you get closer to the bridge.

Highly recommend in the spring while the hills are still green and the wild flowers are blooming.

It’s a hidden gem! What a hike. It’s so near to the road but still as soon as you climb up the stairs you are in a different place. There is a bench at the end of the trial which offers spectacular views.

A perfect place to hike to get the effect of HIIT plus the best view possible of Sausalito, Angel Island and San Francisco Bay.

Certainly a very convenient trailhead just off US 101, close to the mighty Golden Gate Bridge! Lots of steps for the first quarter mile or so, but quite worth it.

Nice and well marked trail into the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Bring enough water and adequate clothing.

A great trail to take on foot only, but not an easy one, if you are fresh in hiking. The views of the ever-green forest, as you climb through the green giants, and of the Bay are breathtaking. Watch the weather: after the rain, it may be somewhat slippery.

Nice area. I found this place to be very quiet. Please pick up your dog sh°t.
