Yoga Center of Marin

Great classes taught by very experienced, compassionate, knowledgeable teachers with decades of yoga experience. This is the only place I will do yoga in Marin. This center is great for the yoga purist or people in need of therapeutics, they're the best!

Lovely setting, intimate, with knowledgeable teachers.

I wanted to take the Gentle and Therapeutic class which was advertised as good for people with chronic pain. I emailed the instructor and she said just show up. There is just the studio, (no waiting room)so I was standing around trying to figure out who was the instructor. There were only about 5 people and it was obvious I was looking around. Finally I asked a woman who then acknowledged that she was the instructor. I asked if there were registration forms and was told to write my name on a piece of blank printer paper and that 4 session were $85. I was reluctant but decided to pay anyway. There was no medical form, no forms to indicate injury. The floor of the room is very dirty. The class proceeded in a haphazard way with confusing instructions. The teacher consistently referred to me as “new person.” She would ask me a question but when I answered she would immediately say “Don’t talk. Quiet mind.” I could not do certain positions due to injury and the instructor would come over and say we could “work on it the next session.” So I’m just supposed to suffer through the next hour? Super weird. At the end there was no closing, it was just over and the teacher went into the bathroom. I basically fled as fast as possible and was in my car when a fellow student came out and said she wanted to apologize that the instructor was so “harsh” to me. I was relieved it was not my imagination. I will not be back.
