Marinitas

After a nice 4 mile hike to Cataract Falls in Marin, I was hoping for a decent Mexican restaurant. I had low expectations since this is Marin, but I was wrong! Marinitas is the best Mexican Restaurant I’ve been to in 8 months. And far better than any in San Francisco as far as atmosphere, food and service. Marinitas is no hole in the wall and that was great! The interior is beautiful and clean. Lots of Mexican art. The chips and guacamole was excellent. They make their own chips and guacamole. They clearly changed the oil they used to make the chips as it did not taste rancid from old oil. The guacamole was so delicious. They made it fresh and had nice big chunks of avocado. The Chicken Enchilada’s were the best I’ve ever had. Perfect in fact. They come baked in a nice ceramic bowl with lots of cheese and a tasty sauce. Enchiladas were invented by the Mayans so it was nice eating an ancient food taken seriously by this restaurant. I also had a Miraval Rose Prosecco recommended by our waitress who didn’t mind that asked for 2 additional baskets of tortilla chips. The Rose was one of the best I’ve had and I a picky about Prosecco, Champagne, and Sparkling Wines! The glass was filled to the top which most places do not do. The service was excellent. I just wish that the restaurant had a sign that brought attention to it as it was just across the main area for food and shopping on a busy street. The last excellent Mexican Restaurant I’ve been to was in Sacramento, downtown called Zacalo Restaurant Midtown. It’s sad that San Francisco which has a 25% Latino population has very few good restaurants outside the Mission, and none that are beautiful and clean as Marinitas.

Chips n salsa and Margaritas to start. Queso fundido is a great appetizer. Everything is delicious, but my favorite is the Sopas de Marisco in Monday night. Great atmosphere, and consistently friendly service.

The wait staff was really attentive and also helpful when selecting dishes. The food and drinks were delicious. They had a good selection of both meaty and vegetarian options and their guac and chips were super tasty and fresh. We've been there several times and we always enjoy the meals and the ambiance!

One of the best places to celebrate a special occasion. Top notch, creative Mexican food, excellent margaritas, and wonderful service. The portions are perfectly sized for the meal. Always happy to come back to Marinitas!

Great tasting food. Incredible guacamole! Fundido is so tasty and I order it every time I go!

We are NorCal newcomers, and have been "restaurant starved" for many months. Tried this wonderful restaurant on a whim. Cadillac Margarita was so tasty--housemade syrup, and quality ingredients. My wife and I each had tacos. Just delicious with homemade tortillas. And then the dessert... best ever in a Mexican restaurant. Service was top notch. Great to see a good business continue with great food and beverage. Reasonable prices as well.

This place is so good. Street corn, ceviche, duck tacos, vegetariano, margaritas, everything was so good and tasty. Our guests fro SoCal we're impressed. Make sure you ask for the Tabasco homemade salsa, it's very tasty. Highly recommended

INCREDIBLE atmosphere, food, and drinks. Had the opportunity to speak to the chef and he was insanely accommodating of our vegan diet (although, it was clearly labeled on the menu as well, so it was a complete non-issue). Margaritas are to DIE for. We had delicious tacos and a veggie plate. Can't wait to return!

So first of all, you get in, you sit down, order a margarita and it’s the best margarita you’ve ever had. Surely things can’t compare to how delicious that margarita is.. and then you try one of their three ceviches.. all amazing all fresh, sweet, spicy.

And the tacos.. fresh handmade corn tortillas, perfect ingredients combos. Too many to choose.

If you can fit in any more room… their tres leche cake is also just as good if not better than everything else. Truly the best top to bottom.

Great atmosphere, and a good place to come and just chill out. House margaritas are good, and the real value is to get a pitcher. Thirsty Thursdays rock!

Delicious upscale Mexican food and margaritas. Got the Saturday tinga pork special and enjoyed it. Wife got the ceviche and found it very refreshing. Good spice levels. Modern atmosphere that's great for a date without being too fancy.

Excellent service, delicious food and fun atmosphere! We came for a late lunch/early dinner on Sunday. We had chips and salsa, guacamole, shrimp appetizer, carnitas and bistec Argentino. The food was prepared perfectly, full of flavor and beautifully presented. Our servers were attentive and very welcoming.

We tried this place for the first time after living in San Anselmo for a year. It’s been closed with Covid. I’m so glad we did because the food was great and the inside is a good place to accommodate large groups.

Parking is a complete pain though. It’s the only downside of going here.

Marinitas is still just as delicious and fun as it was when it first opened. Everything is delicious, the drinks, the appetizers, the tacos, the enchiladas and the steak plate. You really can't pick a bad dish. The service is very good too. Attentive but not oppressive.

Really nice meal at Marinitas for the three of us. We had a variety of menu items, including specialty cocktails. The service was great. The vibe was relaxed. The food was delicious as well as unique. Definitely worth going to.

This was my first time eating at Marinitas in about a year. IMO if anything the food is better now than it's ever been. The queso fundido was awesome and the fish tacos were incredible. The deluxe margaritas were the same, but then you can't really improve on perfection.
