Beautiful state park. You can drive most of the way to the top, parking is $6 unless you have an eligible pass. Limited parking but it does turn over fairly quickly. Lots of trail options right from the car park, including one to the top of the peak viewpoint. (It gets pretty rocky!) Beautiful views!

Beautiful park to visit if you don't mind a bit of a windy drive. Check the weather since if it'd be a bit of waste to drive up there and not get much of a view

We did the Steep Ravine + Dipsea trail and it was amazing. We started at the ancient redwoods and the trail goes down to the Pacific Ocean which was amazing! The weather was perfect and we looped back to the pantoll campground.
We also caught the sunset at the Mt Tamalpais peak sunset point and it was the most gorgeous sunset of my life!!
A great state park to visit over the weekend, will definitely be back to hike other trails

🌲🦋 Visiting Muir Woods is like stepping into a living fairy tale. The grandeur of the redwoods, some of the tallest trees on Earth, is genuinely awe-inspiring. Walking amongst these giants, some of which have stood for centuries, provides a perspective that is humbling and magical.

One piece of advice: make sure you reserve your spot beforehand. They strictly manage the number of visitors to preserve this natural wonder, and you will be turned away without a reservation. It's a small effort that's well worth the unforgettable experience you will have.

While the redwoods take center stage, don't forget to appreciate the supporting cast of local wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for adorable banana slugs, listen for the melodies of the birds, and watch for butterflies delicately fluttering amongst the foliage.

The tranquility and the ethereal beauty of Muir Woods is a gentle reminder of nature's resilience and grandeur. Whether you're a nature lover or just looking for a unique experience, Muir Woods is a must-visit destination. Trust me, you'll leave with your heart full and your soul refreshed.

It's so beautiful, definitely worth the trip if you're far away. Some trees were downed blocking paths, but nothing impossible to pass. Will be coming back and exploring for the next several years to come.

One of my favorite hikes in the bay area. I usually try to go during the week, because the weekends can get busy. I camped here multiple times and have the best outdoors experience everytime. There's a wonderful trail down to the beach too. Also heads up, if you want to camp - it's first come first serve, try to get there early.

Views are magnificent and beyond our expectations. It took us 2 and half hours to do a dipsea and steep ravine loop. Mindful for muddy and slippery trials and breezes with fogs from the oceans. It may rain in between. We will definitely come back to explore other fun trails.

Trails for every experience level. Amazing views from all levels, and various ecosystems to explore. No dogs allowed, though you can bring Fido to the nearby Mt. Tamalpais Watershed area trails. Plenty of restaurants close by to catch lunch or dinner after (or before!) a long hike. If you don't want to huff and puff your way to the top, there are scenic drive options to get some stellar views. The trails are mostly well marked and groomed, and you'll get plenty of ocean, rural, and city views. An excellent place to visit.

Amazing place to stop and explore. Met a cool rock climbing couple that said there is some good climbing if you hike down to it’s! They took this picture, so thank you again if you see this!

My favorite North Cal state park so far. Many different hiking trails with gorgeous views. A spontaneous and mysterious adventure every time. It started raining while I was hiking halfway through the rainforest, and the fog suddenly appeared causing a magical scenery.

My room mates and I went on our very first hike together!!! Two of them are pretty skilled at their hiking ability, the rest of us…well, we went for fun;) but it was such an amazing time. So wholesome, the weather and atmosphere was amazing. The park is so well kept, with good maps and directions. We were so happy to cross this one off our list, and after doing this hike we decided that we want to go on more together:)

Hiked with my son just before Thanksgiving day. Love it! The views here are excellent: bay view - you can see most of north bay, some part of San Francisco, even Oakland, ocean view - you can see the Pacific ocean, mountain view - you can see mounts around, especially the Muir Woods and its red wood trees. We got the east peak and staying there on a rock for a while, enjoying the sunshine and breezy winds. There is a falling tree on our trail, but you can jumping around it. Near the east peak, there is a chained road, we didn't enter there, but somehow we have to exit from there when exit from the peak.

Awesome drive to get there. They do car commercials on that road. There is a farm they use for teaching and retreats that has great trails. Watch out for mule deer.

Great place to hike and do other outdoor activities. The trails seem to be well-maintained and is well-marked; we didn't have any issues. You can set your own hike/bike difficulty rating with the many different trail options and elevation levels.

You are sure to encounter some wildlife on your trip. You'll also get some pretty amazing views. Unfortunately, we visited when there were some wildfires in the area just a couple of hours away which you will notice from the smokiness and red glare in the attached photos.

One last note: If you're afraid of heights, some of the trails along the edge of the mountain might be extra challenging.
