Gillwoods Cafe

Wonderful experience. Staff was amazing and friendly. In particular a staff member named Gus was really fun with our kids. Little things like that make a big difference. Now our kids want to return because they felt so welcomed. Cochin our server was excellent as well. Will be back for sure!

We stopped at Gillwoods for breakfast on our way out of town. It was delicious! We sat at a table nestled in the window so we could watch the action in downtown St Helena. The coffee was great, service was attentive, and our food was delicious. If you are also gluten free, they have a lot of gluten free options including waffles and pancakes that were incredible!

Not cheap, but considering location and portions, there will be no complaints from me.

You can have mimosas or beer with breakfast too. Save room for a decent selection of baked goods. Beware: cinnamon roll comes with side of butter. All benedict choices are excellent. Diner style patty melt is worth the early calories too.

They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so plan your schedule accordingly.

We took a brunch on Sunday morning and we enjoyed so much the meal, the ambiance and the friendly and caring staff. Large choice of products, pancakes, meats and fruits, gluten-free and dairy free options... A great place for breakfast, at least!

The food tasted great and the waiters were very nice. I had a great time and would recommend if you're looking for a place to eat good food and spend time with family.

The food was delicious, I had the pecan pancake & my hubby had biscuits & gravy, service was great.

I asked for the salmon eggs benedict to be made gluten free over potatoes. They did, and it was spectacular. Everything on the plate was delicious! The salmon was spectacular! Friendly staff and great food.

Really enjoyed the food. I have to say the portions were large and filling. The service was very good and our server was excellent.

Was looking for a place that served breakfast all day after a minor surgery in the morning. Got my breakfast. It was great.

Great diner type restaurant. My wife and I ordered a fruit bowl and a Caesar Salad and shared the two. Perfect.

We also each got a Banana Nut Muffin. It was so delicious that we stopped on the way home, after our 5 day visit in St Helena and Calistoga to pick up 2 more.

Food and cocktails were fantastic. Especially when your benni's muffin is toasted to perfection. Diner feel w/ a friendly staff.

Old-school-feeling diner with great food and service. We had lunch but breakfast appeared to be served all day, and those dishes also looked good. We had a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their lunch. I'll definitely go here again when back in St Helena. Closes mid afternoon, I think 3PM.

I had an awesome breakfast here. Creative and classic and so worth the money! Loved having breakfast here this morning. The Croissant was PERFECT.

You know it's good when the locals line up on the sidewalk for 20 minutes to get in. Not at all disappointed after putting our names on the writing tablet at the front desk and waiting our turn on the sidewalk. Everything you would hope for in a small town café. Tiny café, tiny tables, clean and simple decor, exemplary local dishes served with charm and experience. From our "busboy" offering beverages the moment we arrived and attentively inquiring about refills during our stay - despite the crazy business of his morning - to our knowledgeable and swift waitress confidently answering all our questions.... staff gets 10 of 10. We ordered egg dishes and they arrived hot, fluffy and with a tender bite. No rubber eggs here. No half-melted or stingy cheese omelet either. Fancy coffee was also hot and perfectly mixed. Our neighbors (I did mention small cafe/small tables) also loved their order of baked goods but did not love the Sriracha-type Bloody Mary. Just a preference. Check came when asked not stuffed under our main dish and no one tried to grab our plates half eaten despite the line of people waiting. Excellent. I'd happily wait 20 minutes on you sidewalk to eat at Gillwoods again! Thank you Gillwoods for making our visit wonderful.
