Trefethen Family Vineyards

Our Trefethen Vineyard Tour & Tasting with Michael was the highlight of our trip! Michael was so knowledgeable and welcomed all of our questions. Getting to hear about and see some of the process from seed to vine to grape to glass was exciting! Followed by a wonderful tasting it was the best morning!

I am so excited to write this post because it was that amazing! We randomly came across this winery and are so glad we did. Obsessed is the one word I would use to sum up the experience. The atmosphere is so comfortable and welcoming, the vineyard is beautiful, the owners and staff are so friendly, but I must give a HUGE shout out to one of their hostesses. Since the first time we came to Trefethen Carrysa Bird made us feel very welcome and it was very apparent that she was very knowledgable of not only the vineyard, but of every single wine she introduced to us. She is very charismatic so you can't help but love her. Whenever we make a reservation for a wine tasting we always make sure to request her as our hostess. The Trefethen family is very lucky to have her. I can't say enough about how terrific Trefethen Family Vineyard is so you'll just have to try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely outstanding! We had a wine tasting with snacks and just wow. The person (dedicated guy but I am sorry I forgot the name - he is Welsh) was amazing! The wines were fantastic, the food was delicious and the history behind the vineyard is impressive. Was the best vineyard that we visited in Napa valley and now we are enjoying the wines that we brought back at home. Our favourites were Katie’s Acre and Cab Sav 2018.

Loved all the Halloween decor mixed in throughout! This was my favorite winery we visited because the property was simply stunning - they have cork trees too! We did the twilight tasting and it was such a wonderful experience. The food was deciduous and paired perfectly with our wines. Our guides were fabulous as well and really made the experience so much better! We will be back!

Just finished tasting at Trefethen Family Vineyards and had an amazing time! We did the "Reserve Tasting at The Villa" and are glad we did.

The wine was great, the charcuterie was great and our guide Carrysa was great! We really enjoyed each of the wines and had to bring many of them home with us.

We highly recommend Trefethen for not only the wine but also the experience.

My friend and I stopped in for our very first vineyard experience yesterday. Even though we got there just before they closed we were still greeted with a taste of a red and a white wine and some wonderful history. We were granted the opportunity to wander around and take a few photos of where they used to keep the barrels before the earthquake and their indoor tasting room. So beautiful! Thank you especially to the two ladies that helped us and and we're so welcoming!

By far my favorite wine tasting we had in Napa. We chose the food pairing and tasting and we got to hear from the sous chef about each dish before it was served. The wine consultant was so knowledgeable and answered every single question. The experience felt so intimate but also luxurious like they rolled out the red carpet just for us. The food was incredible and I came to learn that I surprisingly like red wines. Highly recommend.

Have you been here yet? If not you need to. The place is rich with history, having been in family hands for generations, and even recouping from an earthquake which had devastated their main building, they have been able to bounce back and really show the neighboring vineyards and wineries their chops. They have an amazing set of reds and whites, a favorite of mine was the dragons tooth, which was a smooth red that made you want to shut your eyes and experience every note of complex flavors it had to offer. Nick and Lynn, the individuals who took care of us were a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to speak to and learn from. Do yourself a favor and ask to see the gardens as well. The entire grounds are beautiful but you. Need this experience in your life.

On this, our first trip to Napa, there were wineries we expected to enjoy when we visited and wines we expected to love. But none were as much a happy surprise as Trefethen. My wife’s comment sums it up nicely: “Wow, I love EVERY one of these wines!” Not only were the wines wonderful, but the experience (@The Villa) was beautiful and extremely enjoyable, thanks in no small part to our host Gregg (Thanks Gregg!).

We were celebrating our 30th anniversary with this trip and Trefethen treated us very well. Beautiful grounds, great wines, great pours (with some off-menu - Halo!), great service and a lovely paired charcuterie board. And to top it off, Trefethen has some of the most affordable pricing on their bottles - even better with member pricing. I’m sure we’ll always have some bottles on hand now.

Wonderful time biking to the vineyard and enjoying a fantastic tasting! The best place to stop on a long bike ride! Was so impressed by the variety of whites and always wowed by the excellent reds.

Amazing place. Great wines. We oredered Essentials flight and White wine flight. Although they had some in common but tasted great. Essential fleight was more diverse and dragon tooth has great notes. All wines were really smooth.
Ambience: Given the covid situation the covid precautions were well considered. They cleaned and sanitised everything before we sat.
It was an open place with very fine decoration and low music which perfectly sets the the environment for wine tasting.
The vineyard around was also nice although there were no grapes in the season.
Not to mention the washroom was really clean.
Overall a good experience.

Trefethen was nothing short of the best experience I have had in the Napa Valley. While some wineries in Napa bring you to a wonderful estate from which the wine is not always made from. Trefethen takes you directly to the vineyards, every wine they produce is sourced from their estate. By the way the wine is the second best part of this place, and it is incredible producing a wide variety of Bordeaux reds, and Burgundy style Pinot, and Chard. However the best part overall is the tremendous staff they have, the highlight being Hunter their Estate Sommelier, whom was so kind and walked us through a terrific tasting, answering every question along the way. A truly perfect Napa experience!

While in Napa, we wanted to experience wine tasting with food pairing at a vineyard. We chose Trefethen Family Vineyards "Taste the Estate" at the Trefethen historic winery. The tasting was held at the original estate manor house.  We were seated outside on the porch overlooking the beautiful grounds and gardens.
I felt like we were in a botanical paradise. The ambiance was intimate, peaceful and small bites were delicious and beautifully presented. You realized that Chef Chris has his heart into each dish served. We were very impressed with their reserve cabernet sauvignon. Would highly recommend Trefethen's "Taste the Estate" experience. Jenny was our host, and she was friendly, attentive and informative.

Great customer service by "Joe" who took care of us during our visit. Joe explained the history and details of the wines we tasted. Great tasting wines🍷. Ambiance is great too.

Fantastic experience! Beautiful vineyard and great people. Did the Vineyard Tour & Tasting experience with Michael who is amazing. He is a wonderful host, introducing the vineyard history, growing methods, winemaking and tasting.

Had a lovely time at Trefethen estates. Did the villa reserve tasting and really enjoyed the surrounding views and the wines themselves. Adam did a wonderful job at introducing the history of the estate and the wines and taking us around. The accompanied charcuterie cheese board really complimented the wine flavors and we would definitely enjoy coming back here. It’s an authentic experience unlike other commercial napa wineries.

Absolutely loved this place. We booked a two hr slot for wine tasting and the vineyard tour. The lady who was helping us was an absolute delight to talk too. She answered our questions about the wine and also poured us some extra wine which the entire group was happy about. Also their Dry Riesling is to die for. Having been trying to find it in every wine shop but I’ve had no luck yet.

Wine tasting in the Villa (the original house of the Trefethen family). If nothing else, go for the experience! Those experienced, go for the amazing wine!! Is it weird that I had to go to Napa Valley to find great wine? No!! So recommend, so worth the find, go to Trefethen Winery!! Kate was a wonderful hostess and the head chef has talent!

Great winery...not crowded and very personal tasting. They will go above and beyond to make your tasting special. Wine is great...you will have a hard time deciding what to buy...want to buy everything.

Stopped here on our way from SFO to Calistoga. Picked Trefethen at random based off proximity and Google ratings. We were not disappointed! A beautiful location with a lot of history. The wine tasting building was a beautiful 130 year old wine barn that had been totally renovated. It was beautiful. Great wine! Generous pours! Super friendly and easy talking staff! Tons of knowledge and eager to share!! Highly recommend!!!
