Hunan Garden Restaurant

Best Chinese food I've had in Washington. I highly recommend the crispy fried chicken, house special beef, house fried rice house chow mein and shrimp egg foo young. Average price for Chineese food, but well worth it.

We have been coming here for years, the women that owns this restaurant is absolutely amazing and kind. About 7 years ago she showed my husband and I how to use chopsticks, and talked to us about her culture. 7 years later (the other day) we went in again with my in-laws. We ordered the dinner for 4, which was delicious! We never leave this restaurant hungry. And to top it off, we saw the owner again, and she is just as amazing and kind as she was 7 years ago. Had a great conversation about local Oysters, and left with a caring hug. Only good things to say about this place.

We love Hunan Garden, owners and staff. Our tradition of Cristmas Eve dinner went beyond expectation for beautiful tasting food and service. It's tough to pick my favorite though I will go back for the hot/sour soup and egg roles.

Even though they're closing on Tuesday August 15th, it has been WONDERFUL everytime we've eaten here. It's been here I think since the 90s and I understand, nothing lasts forever. 😔 Thank you for the memories and the sweet hostesses I'll miss the most especially with the extra fortune cookies they'd always give me for my daughter who loves their fried rice. ❤

I don’t know how I have been overlooking this gem! My family came to town and we decided to give it a try, I am so thankful we did. The atmosphere is very authentic and welcoming. The service is excellent, and the dinner meals are such a great deal! The rice soup is delicious, the dumplings are plump and delicious, the Mongolian beef is tender and well seasoned. Very reasonably priced for a great dinner! We have been back and can’t wait to continue!

Best Chinese in Lakewood! Cream cheese wontons are a must have appetizer. We get Peking chicken wings to share on every visit. Mongolian beef is excellent, Honey Walnut Prawns very flavorful. Haven't had a dish I wouldn't recommend! The flavor profiles are spot on, the atmosphere is casual quiet, service is fast, friendly and efficient. And they do the dishes! Life is good!

We have gone to this restaurant for over 15 years. My kids and I order Christmas Eve dinner every year from Hunan and have enjoyed it every year. On occasion we've been lucky enough to receive a new year calendar from the owners...they're always beautiful scrolls that I keep. Although I have seen several comments about bad food and high prices, I have NEVER had either. Their meals for 2-10 people always have leftovers, appetizer and soup. The prices are good for the amount of tasty food!

The food was all very good, fresh, hot and left us all full. The veggies used were fresh. We had a group of 7 and had the family style dinner and ordered extra walnut shrimp. The sizzling rice soup is a good choice, I want to try their hot and sour soup next visit as that is a favorite of mine, I added a little soy sauce to the soup. I liked the Mongolian beef the best and garlic chicken, both had a good mixture of veggies and meat. The wonton 2 each went fast and were fresh.. We had a new waiter who was learning the ropes, Ian you did good and made is laugh. Wish I had taken pictures but we will be back.

We dined here for the first time for my fiance's birthday. We ordered several dishes. My favorite is the Walnut Prawns, it is amazingly delicious. We love good quality food and glad we found this place. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the tea as well, I was cold from coming outside and it warmed me up. We can't wait to go back, I love this place.

A priceless gem in Lakewood /Tacoma area
After a long day, a friend and I went to this restaurant as a treat from these covid days of isolation. What a most wonderful decision! Immediately upon arrival, we were brought to our table and were served both hot tea and filtered (fresh) water. The food was served piping hot and in a timely manner. (We ordered sizzling rice soup - for my first time, but no means last, pot stickers and two full entrees with rice. The price was reasonable, but the service and how we were served is beyond words. I plan to go there once again when we can enjoy outdoor dining. In the meantime, thank God and Hunan Gardens for take out!

So delicious! I used to go more often when they had one in Puyallup but it's always a treat when I get to go to Hunan Garden. Love their food!

Outstanding food and service. Our first time there and they have a large menu, our server was very patient with us all. Chef brought our meals out to us and came back to check our satisfaction and took our empty plates back with him. We will totally be going back for more excellent meals there. Prices were also very fair.

Just ordered lunch from Hunan gardens in Lakewood. Food was still very hot when my husband got home and it was, without a doubt an excellent meal. I cannot praise it enough. I finished the entire meal, Shrimp and vegetables. I usually give my husband my leftovers, sorry Charlie, none for you this time. Thank you so much Hunan Gardens, we will be back. Come on Lakewood folks, let's support our small businesses so they can survive and be around for us when this is finished.

Great chinese food and pretty expensive. Lots of room for larger parties and you can easily get served in a pretty timely manner. I get the sweet n sour chicken and let me tell you it comes out fresh, not chewy and old like many other places I have visited. The staff could be a bit more friendly. The atmosphere is clean and nice. I have tried several chinese restaurants and Hunan is by far the best.

The food is truly the best Asian food I've experienced- no MSG and the service is always top notch. Angela and Casey go the extra mile every time to ensure their customers are satisfied. Family owned. Delicious cuisine and wonderful people. My favorite!

My grandma had her 100th birthday party here. Some things got messed up in a last-minute miscommunication (I'd say our party's fault), but they were able to overcome it amazingly well.

The food was great, especially the Mongolian Beef and Garlic Chicken. Wonton Soup was delicious, and the pot stickers were just how I like them.

The decor is nice, and the staff was nothing but friendly. I would definitely eat here again.

Lakewood has a gem and it is Hunan Garden! The food is always fresh, well seasoned and generous time after time. The chicken chow mein is my favorite - the chicken tender, vegetables crunchy and noodles done to perfection. The owners, Angela and Casey, care deeply about their cuisine and customer satisfaction. First rate restaurant experience!

We stopped in for lunch. The food was delicious, the portions were perfect, and the service is very friendly and professional. We'll definitely be returning.
