Soup Du Jour

One of our favorite local restaurants! The food is always excellent. I’ve tried most of the menu at this point and have never been disappointed. This time I got shrimp stir fried noodles, hot & sour soup, and a strawberry lemonade. My husband had BBQ chicken and a mango iced tea. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, the service was amazing (and fast), and we will absolutely be back again.

The food was all reasonably priced and so good! We’ve ordered from here enough times to have eaten just about everything on the menu and you can’t make a wrong choice in my opinion. Everything is executed very well and they have generous portions.

We dined in for the first time recently and it was lovely sitting on the patio! Service was excellent and it’s a shame we were one of only two tables at the time. This place deserves more business and I promise you won’t regret eating here!

I come here on cold days just for the chicken congee. The portion is huge, enough for two meals, and the taste and texture are awesome. Love the savory doughnuts that come with it as well (dip them in the soup!) Service is great and the patio area is very comfy and clean.

Had the Meatball Soup and Spiced Street Chicken. EXCELLENT and would love to have again. Outside seating is nice when the weather is too. Lack of parking might be an issue for you but I literally walked over here after an appointment with the VA clinic nearby.

Our first time trying this restaurant is to-go food. We ordered three plates and one popcorn chicken. We are surprised none of them disappointed us. To be honest, this is a rare experience since we are quite picky in terms of food. We surely will go back to support them. You won't regret to give it a try.

Fabulous! Nothing like a hot bowl of soup on a cold day! This is our second time visiting. They change their menu with the seasons. The green deliciousness that they offer to dip their homemade taro chips is divine. Everything we've gotten has been tasty. They clearly label their menu for gluten free and vegetarian options. They also offer vegan options. So much to try and reasonably priced. Also, they could not be more helpful or friendly. We really enjoyed sitting outside by the roaring fire while eating our soup!

Hidden gem! Spot is located in the first floor of one of those newer apartment builds. I usually would have driven right past but my friend invited me here… everything was so good!! We ordered the chicken congee, beef ribs, and chicken wings- all perfectly cooked served with generous portion sizes. The congee was so warming both in piping hot temperature and deliciously balanced ginger component- really hit the spot on a winter night. They also have some bar seating with a nice beer and wine selection. Since it’s not a super busy part of town we were able to sit and enjoy ourselves by their outdoor fireplace. A lot of people seemed to come by and get takeout. Attentive service even though they can get slammed - owner was very communicative about us needing to order up front as she was obviously quite busy. The food is served in open to-go containers with ceramic plates and plastic silverware- a bit different but not a big deal because the food is super bomb and you gotta take the rest home anyway :) can’t wait to come back!

Really upscale comfy sit down place. A good takeout service too. Owner/chef are from Taiwan which is a very rare find. Nice mix of fresh vegetables with Taiwan staples like popcorn chicken, fried pork filet, we also got Panko shrimp and some soup. All good.

COVID rule:Togo only, recommended to call first and pick up. Uber eat can deliver.

As a Taiwanese, I have to said that their Taiwanese food is amazing!

Highly recommend their SPICE STREET CHICKEN.
It is super juicy and tender. Spiced just right for a cold beer. If you could, just order to go and eat in the car right away to have the best experience.

Also I love their black pepper pork tenderloin, super soft and it is not dry at all. Don’t know what magic did they put in this. The combo comes with veggies and rice, it is a great portion to satisfy an adult.

Will definitely come back and try out more of their menu. They are friendly and also very willingly to give you suggestion of the menu. Have amazing experience in here.

What a lovely lunchtime experience!

Came here with a few coworkers today and got to sample quite a few of Soup Du Jour's offerings. We ordered several different milk teas, the spiced street chicken, SDJ BBQ chicken, chickpea cauliflower curry, roasted duck wrap, house made taro chips and the soup of the day.

The food was delivered quickly and our service throughout the meal was excellent. Breakdown of each item I personally experienced below:

Taro milk tea - straightforward and tasty. Asked for 1/2 sweet and the amount of sugar was perfect.

SDJ BBQ chicken - ordered this with the protein option. The roasted vegetables were crisp and well seasoned, the chicken was tender and plentiful, and the bbq sauce was just a bit spicy. As advertised this dish would be a solid four, HOWEVER, with the addition of the spicy aji verde sauce ($0.50), this dish shoots to the stratosphere.

Spiced street chicken - the bite I tried was crunchy and perfectly spiced. Again, aji verde kicks this up a notch.

Chickpea cauliflower curry - this will likely be what I order next time I go to Soup Du Jour. So delicious. Nice yellow curry flavor and plenty of vegetables.

Outside of the food, the seating area is comfortable and well styled with plenty of shade at lunchtime.

FYI, this restaurant is attached to a set of condos. Don't worry, if it looks like you're pulling into a leasing department you're in the right place. There are also specific parking spots for the retail area.

I'm impressed. I discovered taro chips. Yum. The spicy street chicken popcorn looking thing is 👌 tender. I really really enjoyed the mix of spices and the crunch of the breading. The crab mango salad was fresh, bursting with flavor. May be needs a bit more crab meat. A definite favorite. Dakota had the chicken tortilla soup. Quite an authentic flavor. The popping strawberry bobba was a delightful surprise. And then....I looked further into the menu. I want to try most of them. I'm thinking the easiest way will be to have a party and order one of each.....

This place is AMAZING! No wonder this place has 4.9 stars here. No complaints at all. Service is excellent and food is superb. Great ambiance and the place is pet friendly. Highly recommend it! You won’t be disappointed.

Everything is delicious. Staff is very friendly too! Got the Spiced Street Chiken, Angus Ribeye Steak, and Rosted Duck Wrap. Love them all!

Oh my the food was so good. The green sauce is great on everything we ordered. The street chicken is awesome and the taro chips are the best I’ve had. The milk teas were all great too.

20200516 I attended the reopening of this beloved restaurant. It is good to see a small shop change direction and respond to the current crisis. What I saw inside is a very clean, organized, and well laid out space that I am eager to return to. Everyone working had masks and gloves, keeping lots of distance inside. Outside, there is a cute patio area to wait for food to be cooked fresh. I cannot wait for summer to enjoy food with the overhead string lights.

I’m not much of a food critic, but I enjoyed what I ate. I ordered the black pepper tenderloin and a boba milk tea. Boba fit my preference for drinks to be not too sweet and not too bland. The meat is finely sliced, made it easy to portion and eat with the rice. What I was most impressed with is the veggies: so many colors, textures, and I’m certain significant magic to ensure everything was cooked, sequenced, and plated properly.

I arrived at 5pm, ordered with the help of Andy. Another patron came to pick up her order shortly after I put mine in. It is good to see this kitchen active again. I am honored to do my part in supporting a small business. Thank you for preparing my meal and all the work that goes on in the background. I will be returning next week, hungry for more.

As I said, I returned to enjoy more food. Wanted to also take a picture of the overhead string lights: excited to drink and lounge here as restaurant restrictions loosen.

This time, I had the braised beef. And back by popular demand, hot and sour soup is here! Yes, weather has been a little bit cooler. Yet even as it warms up, the soup is still delicious. Both the braised beef and soup are healthy: not very much salt.

I think one thing that I really appreciate about the places that I’ve been going to recently: the food is prepared and packed so that you can enjoy it at home. Last time, my pork was one top of the rice because the sauce is light and wouldn’t affect the rice. This time, the beef is in its own container so that I could eat when I got home. It’s almost like Christmas when I get home: I have some idea of what I am getting, but the surprise and beauty of presentation is great.

The pandemic continues, but still a great joy to try different food through the seasons. I’ve tried the congee and corn soup recently, easy to enjoy as weather becomes cooler. Cannot wait to return next Wednesday

This is my favorite lunch takeout place in SD.

When I arrived, the entrance was clearly marked with distancing tape. Everyone was participating social distancing standing six feet apart. The restaurant had notices on the windows showing how they sanitize regularly and their strict procedure to keep customers and staff safe as their first priority.

First of all, the servers are fully equipped with gloves and masks. They even sanitized the machine before and after I paid with my credit card. It makes me feel safe getting the takeouts from this restaurant.

They have a good variety of menu items, which consist comfort dishes from cuisines all over the world. I ordered Udon Noodle Soup with Shrimp as an add-on. When I got home (20 mins later) the food was still still hot. The udon noodle soup was packed in an nice togo container that separated the noodle and soup, so the texture of the noodle and vegetables remained great. The noodle and soup were given in good portion. After I open my togo container, I was surprised by how big the portion was, and how much vegetables and shrimps were there. The soup was very tasty and not too salty. I will definitely order it again especially when I want to pick a healthy choice. I also ordered spiced street chicken and Boba Milk Tea. The chicken tastes exactly like what I had in Taiwan, very authentic. The meat is super juicy and well cooked, and the outside is very crispy just on the right point. Their boba milk tea is the bomb! You will be surprised of how delicious their boba milk tea is.

One thing I really like about this restaurant is their staff. They follow a strict sanitizing procedure, and they handle my togos professionally. Nevertheless, they are always super friendly and energetic. Their service is efficient and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and family.

Absolutely fantastic soup. The service is excellent. Even taking my order the lady was just a pleasure to speak with. She brought me my meal so kindly and it's the best vegetable soup I've ever had. I'm looking forward to more experiences.

Very good food! Large portions for good prices and all the choices are delicious. Really enjoyed their albondigas and congee soup. Very clean inside and nice atmosphere.

I was feeling a bit under the weather and my wife picked up soup, adding chicken and noodles. The soup was great. Nothing like a warm bowl of soup to warm the body when you feel bad.
