Compass Balloons

We had a lot of clouds and I was concerned that we wouldn't be able to go up but the crew was on top of it and they changed our location to take off. We were able to get up over the cloud cover and were able to watch the sunrise. Later on we saw two other balloons in the distance who were able to get up but they missed the sunrise. The ride was incredibly smooth and beautiful. We traveled over 16 miles but the van was waiting for us when we landed. Ryan is a terrific pilot and I felt safe the whole time. This was a bucket list item for me and it was definitely worth it.

Had a great trip with the family. The entire process was seamless and the staff made it comfortable throughout. The ride was smoother “than an elevator” and we enjoyed great views, drinks and conversation from above the San Diego hills. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating and made it super fun and efficient. My sister was a bit afraid of being air sick but she found the ride extremely smooth and comfortable.

Total time from pickup to drop off including the ride was just over 3 hours. Seeing the balloons being inflated and being part of the whole process made it even more interesting and engaging. Would do it again for sure!

Where do I start. Such an amazing experience. It was smoother than our plane ride to the west coast! Fun fact, the air balloon pilot has to be commercial airline trained! Made me feel safe.
Such a professional company start to finish. Prompt emails and communication, on time at pick up location, friendly staff and a never forget experience.
A surprise ending with mimosas after a very smooth and successful landing was well earned.

BOOK COMPASS!!! Incredible views and seamless booking, with huge contrast between Compass and competition. Our day was a little cloudy, and our pilot Ash proved the value of experience and a well-run company. He got us in the air for a wonderful ride, sailing above fields of other balloons that never got off the ground, and lots of disappointed customers who got up at 4am only to have their flights cancelled after arrival. Ash was exceptionally engaging and knowledgeable, added to an incredibly memorable trip. I worried about motion sickness and fear of heights... neither were even remotely of concern, it feels incredibly safe and tranquil in the air. Private is worth the investment. Enjoy the ride!

Had a great birthday balloon ride! The pilot was funny and professional. If you’re able to peel yourself out of bed to catch a sunrise balloon ride I highly recommend Compass. We paid for the group ride but it ended up being private since no one else had signed up for that morning. We were up in the air in time to actually see the sun come up where the other balloon companies were still setting up and didn’t quite get up in the air in time. During the ride we got to sip on mimosas provided by Compass and see all the vineyards beneath us illuminate by the sun. Irvin & Josh made the experienced so awesome and set up a small breakfast for us when we landed while they gathered up the balloon and other equipment. I can’t wait to go up in a hot air balloon again sometime!

Great experience, pilot and the staff were very friendly and communicative. They kept us updated on the wind speed for the time and kept our safety on the top. We did have to get driven a bit far for a safe ride due to the wind speed but it was all worth it.

Our group of 4 had an absolutely magical hot air balloon ride with Compass Balloons! We felt safe the entire time, from lift-off to landing. Ash, our pilot, was fun, friendly, and super knowledgeable; he pointed out sights along the way and even taught us a short history lesson on the origins of ballooning upon landing. The glowing sunset, sparkling champagne, and laughter with friends made this a special evening to remember! I highly recommend Compass Balloons and will definitely go again if I get the opportunity.

I went for my birthday. They were very accommodating as I booked the ride last minute. The pilot and crew were amazing and explained every step of the way to make us feel comfortable. They were knowledgeable and gave us some history on hot air balloons. They definitely made our experience memorable. 10/10 would recommend

We were able to book for a Saturday only a couple days ahead which was awesome. They lost a pilot due to medical issues and were able to find a replacement in short order and we still we're able to go. The team was very professional and the pilot had 35+ yrs experience. The flight was delightful and we really enjoyed it! Would recommend.

Absolute BONKERS how incredible our experience was with this Compass. I have a buddy that works at a golf course in the area, and the guys were so cool that they lightly grazed one of the lakes on the course and took off from there.

Genuinely good people to chat with and have fun + they'll do everything necessary to make your trip memorable.

We had the most beautiful hot air balloon ride over San Diego with a sunset view of the ocean. Our captain was knowledgeable and courteous. His crew did a great job! They offered champagne 🥂. We had the best time ever! Checked that one off my bucket list! Thank you Compass!

Pilot and crew were great! We had fun pre-flight bubbles to loosen up with balloons were prepared to launch. We had a wonderful sunset flight taking off in Olivenhain, landing in Santaluz 45 min later (we reached 2300 ft altitude). This operation is big on safety--the pilots communicate winds and flight paths with in-flight radios, and you get HIGH quality equipment (basket/balloon). IT'S AN ABSOLUTE MUST EXPERIENCE WITH THIS TOP NOTCH COMPANY!!! Expect about 3-4 hours all in.

Amazing flight!

It was an amazing flight and you’ve got to ask for Ryan, he was our pilot. He and his crew were perfect!

Champagne, cheese and sausage, and fresh fruit were provided.

The narration of the magnificent homes below us in Rancho Santa Fe and Fairbanks Ranch was absolutely amazing! We were so close that we could see people coming outside of their multimillion dollar homes to take pictures of us, some even invited us over for tea or to hang out in their pools!

This is definitely a must do!
