Pacifica Esplanade Beach

Clean, open, and a fun place to bring your dog for some off leash freedom. After a few down hill ramps you will be greeted with the sounds of the ocean waves and feel the cool breeze. Parking may be scarce as it’s close to residential homes, but it’s worth the walk to beach.

If you crab or fish, stop leaving your bait on the beach! This includes any raw meat or fish! You might think the ocean will consume it. No it doesn’t! The dogs on the beach do and they get sick eating off of your trash. This is an off leash dog beach. Please do no ruin this beautiful place for others.

I came here unexpectedly from Virginia. This is the most amazing beach I've ever seen. When my wife and i can no longer travel we hope to return here 1 last time to kiss

One of the greatest places. The energy from the ocean here brings the revitalizing joy. It's too beautiful to describe. It's also off leash for dogs so DONT BRING AN UN FRIENDLY DOG AND DONT GET UPSET THEY ARE OFF LEASH. Take that negative energy elsewhere. This is the happiest beautiful place for ppl and their dogs to enjoy

This is a dog friendly beach in the middle of Pacifica. Parking is a little hard to find, but is free. One should parking on the street. The beach is clean and well maintained. The city provide trash cans and pooping bags. The good of this beach is that is not overcrowded, so if you have dogs, you can walk with them off leach. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful beach. Saw the sunset here and it was pretty amazing. The sand near the beach is not white though. So it could have been better. Other than that, i has a really good experience at this beach.

Such a beautiful and quiet beach! I stayed at San Francisco RV resort right above this beach on the bluff and walked the beach everyday and even sometimes twice a day!

Beautiful place for sunsets and long walks on the beach. Sounds like a dating app request. It's a piece of paradise.

Best beach for dogs to run and play with more then enough space. And looks good for surf to with no crowds. Definitely will be coming back.

Wonderful little beach for off-leash dog running in Pacifica. Nice ramp with railings descending the cliff, and the beach is nice and sandy with ample room to run. Definitely recommend!

I took my puppy here for her 1 year birthday. We had a blast, it wasn't super crowded and we found a nice sunny spot (in Pacifica, sun!!!) and had a little picnic and some chase :)

The parking is easy, just on the street. My only complaint is that the beach isn't accessible at all. I have a dynamic disability, and luckily it was a good day or I wouldn't have been able to make it down. It's steep and slippery, wear good shoes until you get to the sand.

Beautiful beach but no restrooms, dog friendly but some horrible people don't pick up after their pets, please keep it clean so we can keep this beach dog friendly ❤ 🐕

Off leash Dog beach in Pacifica CA. Steep path to walk down to the beach, but super fun for dogs. No frills (No restrooms, street side parking, no benches, picnic areas etc). dog poop station is on the street where u park

Beautiful views. Incredible black sand. I hope people are aware The cliffs are eroding and they need to be careful that the sandy soil above has not cave in on them.

Our dog enjoyed running on the beach off-leash. It’s a big enough beach where you can get your own space, but either way the other people were super kind and respectful with their dogs.

Definitely a great place near San Francisco to take your dog and enjoy the views. Our dog had SO MUCH fun running through the sand. Unfortunately the water was too cold for him to get in, but we will be back!

Wonderful time at this beach, I finally had my mother to come! We had 3 dogs came together, the dogs had Wonderful time getting in the water, playing with other dogs. Had a lunch in warm afternoon. I think to recommend to get the folding chairs so that the dogs won't run through the blankets and stomping on woth sand. We had no problems when we sat on the folding chairs, even dogs are curious on our site.

Not sure how long this beach will last erosion is taking place as the years go by.
If you're visiting San Francisco Bay Area this is one of the beaches you would love to visit but be cautious for the strong ripping currents of The West Coast Beaches/ sneaker waves.
During this Good seasons fishing for striped bass and surf perch this is the place to be.
During the low tide there is a lot of space to throw a blanket and have a little picnic.
My advice before coming to this beach is to stop by McDonald's just about five blocks away and make sure you do your business before coming to the beach there are no bathrooms.
Keep our beaches clean if you pack it in pack it out thank you enjoy the view.

I took my dogs here for their first beach outing and it was a success! There is some construction at the entrance of the park so there’s a little less parking than normal. It’s a pretty steep walk down but it’s so worth it. We came on a Wednesday at 10am and we had the beach to ourselves for the first two hours. If you have a pup that loves water I highly recommend checking this place out.

Must say, this is our favorite dog beach! Always nice dogs and clean. Also this cute little windy trail down, good work out for Buddha, he is on diet! ☺ His favorite workout though.
