Found another classic mom & pop restaurant, a hidden gem. They offer breakfast & lunch from: egg Benedict's to omelettes, pancakes & french toast. Homemade classics like corned beef hash & potatoes, Tri-Tip steak, meatloaf, lamb shanks, liver & onions, sandwiches and many more options. They also have delicious chocolate chip cookies and desserts. I highly recommend this place! Let them know Rosie sent you.

Gunther's catered my mom's funeral. The food was excellent and very tasty. I'm sorry I don't remember the 2 men who worked our party, they were very professional and made sure we were happy. They went out of their way to make sure everything went well. I recommend Gunther's for any social needs. And there chocolate chip cookies so delicious. Thank you for making a sad day a little bearable.

Very friendly service. German special with 2 kinds of sausage was good. I like especially the sauerkraut juicy and flavorful. Pastami was good but not on the same level as Katz, albeit much cheaper.

Every single time I go to Gunther’s it NEVER disappoints. Truly top notch German food & more!
My fiancé and I always order the potato knish (mashed potatoes mixed with onions and cabbage, baked in pie dough) it’s delicious. I’m happy we are so close to this place because we try to go every other weekend.

Though not a very large restaurant, it is very cute, organized and clean. Fantastic servers, attaintive and friendly. She was very thoughtful and considerate. The pastrami and Reuben sandwiches were excellent with lots of meat, fresh bread. The split pea soup was good, maybe a bit too salty. Deserts were good too. Love these type of neighborhood restaurant!

My first time here and wow, is the food wonderful!! Their Ruben Sandwich and Pastrami Sandwich are in thick portions and will leave you full. They even handed out free samples of their Mac and Cheese. Oooooh that was so delicious!! 😋

Score!! Absolutely a fabulous find! The service is great and genuine, it's clean, and the fresh delicious variety of food is awesome! The French toast was cooked perfectly and the syrup was delicious. The place smells warm and scrumptious with hot food steaming and taunting you..and there are tons of lovely sweet treats. I look forward to trying it again!

One of the last few authentic Jewish/German delis. Food is always good, especially the matzo ball soup, German plate, corned beef hash and pastrami. They have limited hours so be sure to check before heading over there.

My daughter told me their pastrami sandwiches and their cookies are really good. She was right about their pastrami sandwiches. I had the hot pastrami while my son and sisters had the Reuben (they are Reuben fans). I wanted to take pictures of their Reuben sandwich but they were too hungry, and focused on enjoying their food. Delicious! I will have to go back and try their cookies.

Sometimes you gotta treat yourself to a tasty cookie….and when that times comes, and you find yourself in Willow Glen, Gunther’s is the spot. These aren’t just any ol cookie…these cookies are super bomb dot com. Sure there are cookie specialty joints popping up here n there, but Gunther’s has been around since 1971 and I think it’s all thanks to the cookies. Like for reals tho…from the first bite to the last, you’ll thank me for the tip. One love

It's not Katz's Deli but it's definitely the best you're going to find in the South Bay. We tried the Hot Pastrami, the Rueben, the Corned Beef AND Pastrami Philly (my fave of the three), the Matzah Ball Soup, Knish and Red Cabbage. ALL were good. They also brought us hot, gooey, fresh from the oven chocalate chip cookies while we waited outside (COVID restrictions). Thank you, thoughtful waitress! The lady running the register was having a bad day but the rest of the staff were all very friendly. We'll be back because there's waaaay too much yumminess left on the menu to try!

We used Gunther’s Catering for our backyard October wedding in Willow Glen. Gunther’s provided food, beverages, bartender, service staff, tables, chairs, linens, china, flatware, glassware, and ice. Not to mention pickup and delivery!

Steve (from Gunther’s) was nothing short of amazing. He patiently fielded all our questions (and trust me, there were many!) and provided suggestions, sage advice, and (as needed) a hefty dose of much-needed reassurance. We even had the luxury of a private tasting at Gunter’s Restaurant. Steve also provided recommendations for other vendors such as a florist, DJ service, etc.

Steve came out for a site visit twice to figure out logistics, spacing and “what goes where.” He met with me and our planning team and patiently considered all ideas and offered his own tried and true suggestions.

Since this was my first, last and only wedding it was important to me and you know what? It was just as important to Steve.

The food was outstanding! In fact, our friends are still talking about how great the food was. The service staff and bartender were efficient and professional. They knew what they were doing and it showed! And those cookies!

Our backyard was transformed into a magical venue, even surpassing what we had hoped for.

When I asked my sister for a souvenir that was a local treat, this was the place that came to mind. So we went and I got a Baker’s Dozen of their chocolate chip cookies. Initial impression was that they looked like muffins but make no mistake, these are cookies and they are freaking awesome. I was going to just get a couple for each of my kids back home but I’m glad I went for more, these are great and the kids absolutely love them.
As a nice bonus the owner chatted with us a few minutes and was so very nice. The staff was very welcoming and if we weren’t there for just cookies the food they had looked super-good! Next time I visit my family in San Jose we will have to eat there!

Everything here is excellent. Great staff. I highly recommend Gunther's. Great food and their freshly made goodies are out of this world!

Best patty melt! My mom had the Rich Boy sub. It was HUGE! Friendly service. Can’t wait to come back and try the chicken sandwich. My mom is going to try the chopped liver. It’s a real deli in San Jose!

Gunthers is my goto place for a hot pastrami sandwich. So good. Also those chocolate chip cookies are the best.

In my opinion, these are by far the best chocolate chip cookies in the Bay Area! I bought their cookies for a catering event recently. Gunther's has mastered the art of baking them so they are firm on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside, almost tasting a little like cookie dough in the center. They're not cheap, but they're worth it!! 😛

The turkey is really good. Nice and flavorful. And the Mac and cheese is to die for.

Gunthers catered and helped coordinate our event at the Saratoga Foothill Club. The Food was AMAZING, staff was pleasant, kind and helpful and I can not recommend them enough. They helped make our first large event a success and we plan to work with them for our event again next year! Big shout out the Steve, who guided me through the whole process, he was so easy to work with, had great recommendations, and even came to the event to check in, which put my mind at ease. Thank you Steve and Gunthers, you really went above and beyond!
