California Fish Grill

I wasn’t expecting much but everything was so good! I thought this would be akin to chipotle or Baja Fresh but all the fried foods were crisp and hot, the shrimp was fat and juicy with that crispy fried outer layer and the sauces were all on point! Will definitely come back here before I have to go home!

Went for the friends and family event and got the salmon with chipotle lime sauce with zucchini and sweet potato fries and it was very good! The sauce was very flavor and the salmon was well cooked. Will definitely be coming back.

I walked in and thought the place smelled like warm fish then this crazy dude started fighting with the manager over a $1 refund and went more California Kevin than average and his friend was recording him look like a fool on Snapchat and poor manager was like 5’ tall and it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. He threatened a bad review so here’s my good one to balance it out. Food was average, entertainment was excellent.

Excellent new restaurant to try. I had to come back a few times already as there were different dishes I wanted to try. The grilled fish is fabulous, cooked just right! (So far I've had the sockeye salmon and sea bass.) The Hawaii shrimp trip is scrumptious, especially the coconut shrimp dipped in their special sauce. Even the clam chowder has high quality clams, and are plentiful. I was impressed with the quality of all of the seafood I've tried. Only reason for 4 stars for service is the ordering is done by screens and you pick up your food when ready. But for the small interaction I have had, there were no issues. The atmosphere is simple, just an easy casual spot focused more on the food than on the frills. I totally loved the music though, as did my GenX colleagues. A blast from the past.

I was so amazed. I was thinking this guy's only. They said fish but when I went inside to get something I asked them. Do you have food without fish? The manager told me she took me to the self-serve. They have a check out system laptop by themselves she decided yes we have. Yes what do you need? I said I need a chicken sandwich. Say that we just have everything here the service. Wonderful restaurant . They set up their table. Their kitchen is so professionals

Yum! Dynamite Shrimp Bowl is almost my default go to for a quick meal.

I've only eaten the sides here, and I get them to go, so someone else will have to review the main courses, but I wanted to talk about the spicy grilled corn side, which is juicy and delicious.

I like the rice and the beans sides and mixing those two together, with or without the corn mixed in, is my dinner lots of nights. Very delicious, healthy, and filling.

Their kale salad is always fresh. I wish it had more dressing but it honestly it's great as it is. I'm that person -- the one who floods my salad with dressing -- so people who aren't me probably think it's just right.

Finally, their clam chowder is delicious. It's a dinner in itself for me and very satisfying.

I usually don't review chain restaurants but this place is so nummy. The Atlantic Salmon plate and Shrimp Tacos are great tasting. The restaurant experience at least at the Foster City, CA. location is you place your order on the self checkout screen the kitchen gets the order and two others organize and give it to you.

Loved the options available. Such a reasonable price. Try the vanilla cream soda.

Always a good choice.fish n chips keto bowl and salmon plate. They can be a little skimpy on the avocado add on. 3 tiny wedges for 2.95. I felt more cheated than at chipotle.

I really like this place. I had a Dino shrimp bowl and it was great. They have cauliflower rice or salad as an option instead of regular rice, which I really liked. Nice, quick, and easy lunch or dinner spot.

Oh.my.goodness!!! This place is outstanding!! I got the Fried Catfish with their Kale Slaw it was absolutely amazing! The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. My family of 6 really enjoyed ourselves in this chill atmosphere. If we ever visit Cali again, this is our first stop!

My cousin and I had lunch today at the California Fish Grill Friends and Family luncheon. It's a brand new restaurant opening in San Mateo, and offered a free lunch to come check them out. We made our reservations online and were greeted by a very nice host. We each had one entry with two sides and an appetizer and drink. There wasn't a long wait for our food to be ready. I ordered the fish and chip, brussels sprouts, and fries; and my cousin ordered grilled salmon, asparagus, and kale slaw. We had the Calamari for our appetizer. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. The customer service was great fast and efficient and very welcoming. It was a bit noisy because of the promotional invitation for lunch, but the place was packed, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. We can't wait to go back there again and try other entrees on the menu.

Great quick delicious Fresh fish, experience. Elevated fast food, but NOT bad/unhealthy junk food, very good selection of healthy meals.

Partner had fish and shrimp with street corn and rice, and mine was the shrimp trio with rice and kaleslaw. Will be visiting the other locations near my home for sure

First time here, best fish food for that price. I regret I don’t have it nearby my house.
