Mandarin Gourmet Restaurant 滿吉樓

Lunch specials are becoming harder and harder to find so when you find a place that not only has a lunch special but has it available 7 days a week (excluding holidays), it is worth a highlight! Mandarin Gourmet delivers with a 4 course lunch special that has a variety of entrée options. Entrées are served family style so the table can easily share dishes. The food comes quickly and the seating is comfortable (choice of booths or tables). The first course are some fried dough with a sweet red dipping sauce. Chinese chicken salad with a peanut dressing is usually served at the same time, followed by a hot and sour soup. Finally the entrée is served with a choice of steamed or fried rice. A fortune cookie rounds off the meal. On this visit, we had the Garlic Eggplant, Tangerine Beef and Honey Walnut Prawns. All were great!

Love this place for lunch. Smaller plates but still enough to share for two. Includes soup, salad, won ton strips with sweet and sour sauce, fried rice, hot tea and then you pick your entree. Food is always freshly prepared with delicious sauces that are truley Gourmet! Oh and you can eat there in about 30 min or sometimes less, why settle for a fast food joint when you can get Mandarin Gourmet.

This place never seems to disappoint, the food was delicious, the service friendly. I love to have General Tso's pan friend noodles, this dish makes a great sizzling sound when they add the sauce, meat, and vegetables. This is done right at your table, and tends to get the attention of other guests. You can be selective on what vegetables are in the dish, works out great if you dislike mushrooms like I do. I always add a serving of rice to the meal, as I feel it's a necessity and is not included. The hot and sour soup is also a great addition on a rainy day. They serve a complimentary hot tea, with every meal.

When I moved to San Jose I was looking for a good Chinese restaurant. I’m so glad I found Mandarin Gourmet. Excellent restaurant. Strong recommendation.

This is only the second time that I have visited the Mandarin Gourmet Restaurant in 12 years. I had the combination fried rice and honey walnut shrimp. The food was very tasty, the waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere was kind on the eyes. The only negative was the hostess. She must have been having a bad day.

This place probably has the best Chinese food I’ve ever! The staff are really nice and the restaurant always looks amazing! The food is always perfect and I have dined in and done take out! They are never skimpy on the servings. However I have noticed it is a smaller portion to go rather than eating there! If you are in the area check this place out for sure!

We just love this place. The food is awesome. The chicken salad is the best anywhere. Yum. It's a tragedy that the one closest to us closed...but the one on Teresa in San Jose just off 85 is thankfully still open!

They have so many delicious choices on the menu that I have a hard time deciding what to order. I have enjoyed everything I've ever ordered here.

Amazing restaurant. went here all the time when i was younger, and it was my go to place for my B-day.

they have a nice selection of food (however i do miss the candy banana. think it might have been removed of the menu) i usually stick to my favorites but all of it tasted good. the hot and sour soup is really good, not to cluttered with stuff like other restaurants iv been to. you get free tea (or at least i always believed it was free) when you order.

sometimes the rice can be a little dry, but i'd prefer that over sticky and its not something that would bother me that much.

I love this place. We just moved here from Texas and we got this when we were looking for our new apartment, and more recently in our new apartment! I got scallops the first time and sesame chicken the second time. We got cream cheese puffs the second time too and they were incredible! Seriously love this place so far!

Food is excellent. Probably the best Chinese food I have ever had. Every dish has its own distinct flavor, not like a lot of Chinese restaurants where all the food taste similar like they have been cooked all together or in the same pan. Great atmosphere elegant but a relaxed and friendly. The staff very attentive friendly and helpful. It’s a very pleasant experience. I recommend It to everyone.

Our new favorite Chinese restaurant. We've mostly done take out from here since the pandemic, but their takeout packaging is excellent. The one time we dined in, service was good, and the food was even better.

Very tasty and plenty of vegetarian options. Loved the ma po tofu. One of the best Chinese restaurants I've had in the bay area. Excellent, fast service and great ambiance. Highly recommend this place

All of the food was great. Service was great too. Had the chicken salad, honey walnut prawns, mushu pork, Mongolian beef, lemon chicken, and wonton soup. Awesome meal.

Absolute nostalgia from the decor to the waitstaff and the food is classic American Chinese food. Great for seating in or taking out.

I enjoyed the atmosphere. The lights were dimmed and felt relaxing. Everything was great.

Always spot on with excellent service and awesome food, Mandarin Gourmet has been one of my favorite Chinese style restaurants to eat at since the early 1990's. Their food has been consistent in flavor and quality all these years and makes Mandarin Gourmet a solid, dependable place to go with friends and family and not be bummed out with some let down on their fare!

Last night we had my birthday dinner here, (third time coming here) and it was amazing as always. This is, by far, the absolute best Chinese food I've ever had! And it could quite possibly be the best food overall I've had. I can hardly talk while I eat because each bite is so incredible. And I have yet to try anything I didn't love there. Sesame chicken, shrimp with honey glazed walnuts, green beans, fried rice, pan fried noodles, Mongolian beef, etc are all highly recommended. The only negative I have found is that they don't have Dr. Pepper. That's it!
