Needed a passport renewed and arrived hours late for the appointment. Was no problem, very glad to got it in early. Staff was friendly and efficient.

I took my 16-year-old son in to renew an expired passport. I called in advance to confirm that he would need to be there and that my husband would not be needed.

After the initial call, they called me back to let me know that my 16-year-old would need to bring in a photo ID. Once we were there with our paperwork and items we were courteously and efficiently processed, including making a needed photocopy of my ID. We were in and out in under 15 minutes.

Thank you very much.

My husband and I recently got married and we were both blown away by how helpful everyone was at the Santa Cruz County Clerk’s office and County Recorders office. They conformed to our hectic schedule and guided us through this process, we can not thank them enough. Thank you for making the process seem easy!

We went there for my son's passport service. We found this gem accidentally while going through some yelp reviews about passport service locations in bay area. This is the place to go for passports if you are anywhere in the bay area. It's worth the drive. The staff are very welcoming and pleasure to deal with. We had all our forms and photo copies done prior to going there on a Friday afternoon. We reach there at 3:45 PM and out by 4 PM.

OMG!!! We can't thank you guys enough!!!! Two weeks before our wedding, we found out we needed a virtual appointment with the registrar's office in the county where we lived in order to get a marriage license. For some reason, we thought we could just walk in and get one, but the website was not updated with the new procedures for covid. Unfortunately for us, our county's registrar's office was booked for the next six weeks. Yikes! We looked up and down California for a registrar's office that would accept folks that don't live in their respective counties and has an available appointment before our wedding date. Enter: Santa Cruz County Registrar's Office to the rescue. What would we have done without your help?

Just a note for those getting marriage licenses: in our case the clerk made several mistakes in the information. This is because Santa Cruz does not have a method for applicants to fill in their information electronically (like, for example, Santa Clara). Thus you come with a printed piece of paper and the clerk enters the data in the system, often incorrectly. The clerk had to fix several errors in our case when we reviewed the printout. But, we missed one. Once the license is signed, if you then detect an error, you have to pay for the license all over again. It's amazing that 1. the county has no system to handle this electronically, and 2. the county makes you pay again, even though it's their mistake. Truly a spectacular way to handle a joyous occasion.

I called to inquire about the processing time for my passport renewal and needed a few quick clarification questions answered about post office vs. clerk office process and the woman I spoke with on the phone was extremely rude and made me feel like an idiot for having questions. I stayed polite but the exchange was ridiculous and could have been handled politely in under two minutes.
