Amazing Bookstore! Diverse collection of books with different sections for everything. Has every book you can imagine. There is also merch for UCSC and toys available. With a large children's section as well. This is one the best bookstores in the bay area.

Remember the world before Bezos ruined it?? If you forgot, this place will remind you of what we almost lost and what is still under constant threat. This is "The" book store in the Santa Cruz area. Spend some time and find your happiness.

One of the best local bookstores I have ever been to! It is incredibly well stocked, well organized, and brightly lit. Tons of bookshop recommendations (my favorite part of local stores). They also have a used books section for discounted books. Could have spent the whole day just browsing!

Quirky, interesting with a huge selection in every category you can think of! My daughters and I each picked out a selection for our travels back home. Must stop in Santa Cruz!

It is everything you want a bookstore to be: great selection, very knowledgeable staff, ask them anything and they either know, or can figure it out, new & used books, they have great lectures from their authors, it’s fun, it’s beautiful, they’ve got great book-related gifts, very dedicated to the Santa Cruz,, progressive, intelligent community AND they’ve been there for nearly 50 YEARS ! Best bookstore I’ve ever been to. Very friendly staff that will help you find everything. They have a great collection of all genres and also a used book section. I love that it’s an independent store.

Cant go to Santa Cruz without going to Bookshop Santa Cruz. The staff is so helpful and they will help you find anything you are looking for. They seem to have every book I have ever needed and lots of unique gifts and souvenirs. The Bookshop hosts a variety of events, such as author talks and book signings. Right in the middle of downtown so grab a parking spot and you can walk to lots of shops. Also worth noting that they have public restrooms because it can be difficult to locate one in this area.

Every time we go to Santa Cruz, we to the bookstore, I usually find a book or two that I find interesting! This time was no difference - three books. Then the people with me do too!! It's a really wonderful place to get something that I didn't know that I would want particularly.

This is one of my favorite bookstores and my favourite store in the entire Santa Cruz area. I have spent hours going through the shelves just looking around and could spend hours more. They also have an excellent selection of UCSC merchandise.

I was down in Santa Cruz for a event and I happened to stop by this bookstore. I love books so much, so yes I’m a book nerd and so I had to try it out. The place is beautiful, I got lost in my own world while I was there. I got some cool classic books and there were on sales, so that was a plus. Love this bookstore but it might be a while before I go back since it’s 60 miles away.

In a time where bookshops are a dying experience, this book shop stands out as a well managed and bustling classic experience which has been a staple in the Santa Cruz downtown for decades which has stood the test of time and seems to get better and better through the years. The service is knowledgeable and friendly and the selection is excellent, organized and diverse. There's something to be said about being here amongst people who are book lovers and readers who obviously enjoy the experience the shop offers. Large and beautiful, not only is it a rare experience, but one of this size is even more uncommon in the world of online buying. Highly recommended if you love books.

It doesn't get any better than this place! The staff here will provide endless discussion over book ideas and help you choose your new best read. They don't lack anything. It's just plain fun! We go whenever we have an excuse to!
