This is a real Independent natural food grocery store. It’s packed with fresh local organic specialty items. Very nice assortment of fresh fruits & veggies Grocery and produce. Great location to buy bulk items for huts, grains, spices, teas, coffee.

Nice helpful staff and smoothie and easy check out. Bring your own bags and get a token to donate to a cause as you leave.

What I love about Staff of life is that it's a nice healthy extension of my home. Where I find everything healthy I need for my home, they have every product you can think of. And if you want to have a nice time, the outdoor cafe is another option in the market. And the most important thing is the store staff. Customer service is reflected with the human quality that Nina shows, always attentive and always with a smile, thank you very much for all the attention.

The Lip asked me to come with him incase of trouble, and I agreed with one provision, that he buy lunch at the Staff of Life Restaurant, they make an amazing sandwich. Well, he pulled up in front of the Happy Time Massage Parlor, and that's when I realized he didn't even bring his surfboard, and he's getting something other than a surfboard waxed. I had a good laugh because 7 minutes later we were on our way to the Staff of Life for some amazing sandwiches. ☆☆☆☆☆

This is a great store. They have a hot bar, deli, a coffee and smoothie bar and a great meat department. The front of the store with the produce and plants is very welcoming and makes you want to hangout for a while and look at everything. My sandwich was delicious and the staff was great.

I love this store, the organic produce is amazing. All the healthy options. Nina by far will go out of her way to always help me when I can’t find certain things and she will make other suggestions if items are not available. I truly love that. Her smile and kindness always makes my day. We definitely need more people like Nina. I have recommended this particular store to all my friends and family.

This store is awesome...Lots of organic food options. So many I didn't know what to choose.
Nina was really helpful in showing me food options to pair together for my lunch and dinner meals. She was very knowledgeable about the stores types of foods and was really friendly when helping me and showing me around the store. She seemed to have a lot of pride in working there.

It's an amazing place! I haven't seen a store of its nature that has such a huge selection of foods and related supplies. Its bulk foods section is in a class of its own with a big selection and great prices. Staff of Life has very competitive pricing, the vegetables are of good quality and fresh. Unfortunately I live more than an hour away from this store making it inconvenient to visit often. However, I'll shop there anytime I'm in the area. There is ample parking in the front and back of the store. If you end up having to park in the back, don't leave valuables in the car.

I love their bulk spices! They have a huge selection, you can get just about anything you want. I specially love their house chai blend. It’s caffeine free as well. I can’t start my morning without it!

The Staff of Life is hands down the best grocery store in Santa Cruz. They have the largest number of bulk items, an excellent butcher, the widest selection of fruits and vegetables, and a numerous organic and fair trade products. I find them to be less expensive than other grocery stores, especially when you consider the savings when buying spices, herbs, oils, vanilla extract, honey, soaps, and detergents in bulk. They also have the most comprehensive selection of supplements, including the local, reasonably priced Source Naturals brand.

Always been my favorite grocery store in town. Recently we’ve been going at the same time every week and we see James, the cashier, who is very friendly and has great customer service. Works really hard and has a good attitude even when understaffed.

Since what appears to be a change in ownership a few years ago, there are a few changes that I didn’t like. There used to be a plethora of vegan options in the hot food bar, such as tempeh fajitas and tofu curry. They were made clean without too much oil or other filler ingredients. I hope to see something like that in there again! Now there are no vegan protein options to choose from in the hot food bar. Also, changes to the sandwich bar were not good. Haven’t bought a sandwich since. There are a few other things, but simply put, the not-so-good changes made in the last few years have not been unnoticed by your long term customers.

Other than that, this is still the best grocery store in town. Costs less than whole foods and new leaf, but still provides a wide variety of organic foods and healthy snacks.

Staff of life is great! They have a good variety of products which is important for me because I have so many allergies. On my last visit Tanner helped me find the vegan vitamins that I was looking for. I can always get what I need here!

This is great store. Good vegan options, but they always have something new to offer. I like that Nina tells me what special there is on tacos on Tuesdays a Fridays in meat Department Thank you!!

This is absolutely one of the last true Santa Cruz "delights" it has all of the organic products you need, a good selection of ethnic spices and ingredients. A self serve food pavilion, sandwich shop and select freshly made sushi that is unbeatable. On top of all of this their wine/beer shop has a great variety from around the world and local libations. What's not to like that Staff and Tanuki cider have a collaboration for one of the best ciders not only locally but internationally!

All of the employees at Staff of Life are helpful and friendly. Nina, one of the cashiers, has a colorful collection of hats, and a good sense of humor.

I'll be very honest... I love to go shopping there I find it to be very comfortable and soothing to be in. Definitely a Santa Cruz favorite, by everyone.

This place is so much better than whole foods., and it's locally owned. Tremendous selection of organic, vegetarian, vegan foods plus plants and all the supermarket favorites but much better quality products.

Difficult order as to Amazon rigged prices unless on reorder offer negative purchases contract. where bulk order are needed in advance and online ordering lacks computer skills , save time on orders. Amazon merchants are way over priced and management fails repeated demands for good price comparison and so lacks good marketing management. Filthy waist money compared cooperative management for citizen who get paid live in inflated communities by unhealthy paranoid doctors malpractice immunity.
