Love this little theatre. A great experience the staff were very friendly. Went to see parasite the day after it won the oscars and there were only around 25 people in the theater. Plenty of seating.

Love this theater! Very cozy, quaint and filled with great staff who do their job efficiently. Great snacks and ticket prices. Parking is just across the street or right in front(if your lucky). This place only plays the current indie type movies. It's rare to find anything mainstream. Only con is the old style seating. I prefer the recliner seats.
I'll put up with crappy seating for a great movie in this one of a kind theater that's the only one of it's kind left in Santa cruz.

Wow, a great theater experience. Love the independent movies and the neighborhood vibe of this smallish theater. I hope they continue with the retro decor and friendly staff. It's a different, and better experience compared to the large chain theaters, making the movie more memorable. Close enough to Pacific Ave to grab dinner at many restaurants after the show.

Great tiny “art house” venue, the last of its kind. Next door to silent film actress ZaSu Pitts' childhood home... maybe it’s being protected. :)

The young man with very short brown hair working behind the concession counter was so funny and kind he really made the experience so much fun, he asked if we would like any dessert or popcorn and told us how great the chocolate chip cookies were, that at the end of the day when there is only one left the employees all fight over the last. Really wonderful service, beautiful clean theater, I saw one of the best movies I have ever seen too, the Biggest little farm, I will definitely be going back to see what other independent films are playing ❤👏🤗👐😊
Check it out y'all they even use real butter on the organic amazing popcorn, so so good 🙌😃😉👉👍

Mostly Indie and foreign films at a reasonable price. The snack bar is reasonable, too, unlike the major chains. Yes, the theater is dated, but it's clean and where else can you see these kinds of films (the Del Mar, but that's the same owners)? Note: now owned by small chain, Landmark, but still acts like local theater.

This is a great theater mainly because it offers more than the heavily promoted prime time movies and much more of the eclectic, lesser known productions and foreign films. The ticket prices are average and the concession munchies are predictably priced.
I use Fandango or Rotten Tomatoes to research what is showing and decide based on selections.
Good, reasonably priced parking near by (free after 8:00pm) and plenty of restaurants and eye candy to choose from before the show.
Enjoy!!

A great little movie house with 4 theatres. Good pop corn & tasty baked goods. Excellent Indy & art house films are usually shown here. A beloved Santa Cruz movie theatre which makes this town all the more wonderful.

About the only "art house" theatre left.
Great movies you won't see at the Regals and Cineluxes.
We saw The Biggest Little Farm, and Maiden there, The Imitation Game, Beginners and several dozen other GREAT films over the years.
Parking no worse (or better) than anywhere else In downtown SC.
Go to see films that are memorable, and are worth talking about!

Always love this theater. They and they del Mar have the best movies in town and the best popcorn with real butter and Brewer's yeast. Yum! I also find the staff extremely helpful and personable! I was very surprised to see that someone had a bad experience. In all the years I've been going to the Nick and the Del Mar, I've never had a bad experience with the staff. Now, a few customers have been rude. One guy laughed and slapped his knee and was generally so loud that the entire theater was turning around to see who was making all the noise! Sooooo, I will ask that theater goers try to be aware of their own bad behavior. Thanks!

Intimate, classic movie theater showing the best independent films. Delicious snack slectipn, offering tea, coffee, soda, burritos, brownies, classic candies and alternative options. It has 3 or 4 screens, only one room being distinctly smaller than the rest. Most reasonable ticket prices in town.

The Nick has been my favorite movie theater since I came to Santa Cruz in the 70s. Great popcorn, good snacks, good seats, and that small, comfy, art house theater feeling. Plus, they get all the interesting movies.

Full disclosure: I am in intern at the Nick.
That being said, I love the Nickelodeon. They always have something interesting to watch and are very reasonably priced (good luck going to a multi-plex and getting $1.50 popcorn and $2 beers). The theater is old but very intimate. They are currently working on moving to a beautiful new theater down on Main street which looks like it will be amazing. I recommend checking out their website and seeing if any of the previews look interesting and giving it a try.

The Nickelodeon Theatre is an old school gem from a bygone era and has a really cool nostalgic vibe. Like the Del Mar around the corner, this theater is owned by Landmark Theaters. But between the two, The Nick is my favorite. For being such an old theater, they have done a good job upgrading the speaker and projection systems because the sound and picture quality or definitely up to par. Also, don't expect to see big budget movies from the major studios here. This theater mainly caters more towards independent and arthouse films, one of the main reasons why I love this theater. Also the main reason why I like this theater over the Del Mar is that the seats are much more comfortable. They're not amazing but are much better than the Del Mar.

Still one of the very best lineup of movies in the county! Been coming here for decades and the movies are fantastic and the ambience is smart and wholesome! I highly recommend the Nickelodeon theater for a really great evening of high quality movie going!

I like the nick. I like the independent film choices. The theater is small and charming and ticket costs are fair. We drive from Watsonville to see movies there. We enjoy the matinees. Popcorn is fresh...yay!

Movie theater with 4 screens, mostly small intimate theater spaces. Predominantly art house and foreign films. This is our favorite theater in town, consistently the most worthwhile and provocative movies. And non-GMO popcorn with real butter and gourmet chocolate!

Looks a little bit shubby from outside, but it is very nice inside. Cozy, friendly, very "warm". They play movies that already out in other theaters, so it is nice for people like me who something waiting for too long to see a movie :)

The Nick is iconic in Santa Cruz. It shows a choice of six films, generally independent. It's a real fan favorite among the locals, along with its sister theater, the Del Mar, a few blocks away. These two theaters are the ones I frequent most often.

I love this theater! They always have interesting independent movies and documentaries. The place is always clean and the staff is friendly and pleasant. Plus tickets are relatively cheap!
