San Lorenzo Lumber and Home Centers

The staff are very helpful here and they seem to have a wide selection of products. Would definitely recommend for contractors and people working on large products. The store is still a great general hardware store as well. Unfortunately did not have the drywall patch I was looking for.

Always is a big word, but I always appreciate the great service I get from the employees at San Lorenzo Lumber downtown. The men in the lumber yard, Frank, David, and Al, are always concerned about my projects, as well as milling the wood to my specifics. I'm sure every request receives the same care. Most of all, every employee I've dealt with made me feel like number one. I definitely get my dollar's worth at San Lorenzo Lumber.

It was good other then a woman hassling me for not standing close enough to the customer in front of me in the line to enter the store. I went in bought my ladybugs and left. Great customer service and great ladybugs.

Always great customer service from the awesome team atbthe downtown location! Dave went out of his way to help me find a unique tool needed for my project, and even offered to loan me a tool from his personal collection. Thank you very much for your help Dave!

Very large garden center with lots of original plants. Best lumber yard around.

I wanted to build a bookshelf that would fit in my fireplace, and figured I needed wood to build it, so I went to San Lorenzo lumber with no idea what I was doing. Everyone there was really helpful the whole time in helping me pick out the right wood, the dimensions, how the shelf was going to look, and cutting the wood. Everyone I talked to was very friendly and knew what they were doing. The fireplace looks great now :)

Good hardware and lumber store, contractor oriented but still good for us home owners. Better selection of tools than the big box stores. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful.

My favorite place in the area to buy vegetable starts is the garden center here. Plants are very strong, healthy and they have a large variety to choose from. I usually go with a plan and walk out with at least 1-3 impulse plants to try. Last trip was only $35 and I purchased nine 6 packs of veggies!

Still a great place to purchase not only building products but wonderful items for the home and garden. Be it seasonal holiday garden fair to Japanese Maple trees and a new welcome Matt with a local feel. Friendly Knowledgeable staff with tools and materials for the professional builder as well as your average person doing general maintenance on their own.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. The lumber yard has all kinds of lumber and they will also cut lumber to specific lengths. The hardware store is not a giant box store but they do have all the essentials. The best part is the nursery which has vegetable starters, fruit trees and all types of indoor and outdoor flowers. You can buy compost, soil and fertilizer there. The parking is big and spots are spacious so generally not a problem parking or getting in and out. The only problem I had is sometimes the traffic on River Street gets congested which make it difficult to leave.

Interesting to note that some reviews mention high prices compared to competitors. If, by competitors, one means the big box stores, then that might be true, but with San Lorenzo Lumber you get a real person who knows what they're talking about instead of someone who, with a vacant look, merely points you in the general direction of what "may" be what you actually asked for. That is what you're paying for.

And I have always had wonderful service from all three locations I visit, particularly River Street and Felton - both near my house and most of my work. The employees know me and my dog, and are always helpful and welcoming.

Go here if you need specialty plants and garden supplies. They have pond supplies, Japanese maple trees, Cal natives, bedding plants, shrubs, grasses, vegetables, herbs, and everything you need to take care of them (and more). They also have a wide range of pots, from basic plastic that I like to use to hold plants that I'm transplanting, to half whiskey barrels, to lovely glazed ceramics. They have a seasonal area near the registers that's always stocked with bulbs in the fall, dahlia tubers in February, and so on. They also stock bare root fruit trees and roses in early spring. Finally, while I haven't used the service, they do have a desk where they will diagnose plant issues for you, which I think is great.

SUPER knowledgeable and helpful, if you know who to ask. Prices are very fair and sometime cheaper than Home Depot. Never worth going to HD unless you need a lot of something that you know is cheaper there. San Lo has basically everything you could need. Dog friendly. And I never get patronizing vibes from staff (which is common in most male dominated environments like hardware stores). What more could you ask for!

Hometown awesome. Very good selection of tools and equipment. And the garden center is absolutely amazing.
You will likely pay more than other places but it's well worth the extra $$.
