Radio Shack is dead and Gone. Santa Cruz Electronics more than fills the need for electronic components.

On my latest two visits, I needed to replace my dated frayed Cat4 ethernet cable in my house with a working cable. So I was assisted in getting several feet of cable which I assured the sales technician that I had connectors and knew how to put the ends on.

Turns out, Cat6 is a bit thicker and didn't properly fit my older end network plugs, so my connection didn't work.

Revisited the store and was about to purchase the *wrong* plugs again, but the sales technician mentioned that the Cat6 twisted pair wires were slightly thicker, requiring a Cat6 end plug.

So upon purchasing the correct product with his assistance, and watching a YouTube video on the differences (I was wondering why there were two small zip-lock bags with small plastic items inside), I was able to set up the plugs and get them to work. (After two tries.)

I'd gone to another Big Office office supply/computer store and their Cat6 cable looked to be of lower quality (it was thinner) and was priced even higher.

Wow! Now that Fry's is gone, this is the only place I know that still has a great assortment of electronic components. Prices are good and service is extraordinary. I drove from Alameda to find an ordinary resistor. They had it. No one else did. Thank you.

I love this place, just wish they had better inventory. The shelves are getting bare. Go here and show them you appreciate them with your wallet! It matters.

stupid me i broke my computer by bending the lid too far back. neighbor recommended them, had gone there before. prices less than expected considering the need for parts and work. mike also showed me how to use the dvd feature.m very kind and helpful and didn't make an old woman feel dumb. glad to have a place to go. easy to get to plenty of parking thanks

What an incredible positive experience. This is a very well organized store full of electronic repair items. The staff is so very helpful and provide you the full spectrum of choices for your solution so you make the right choice. Highly recommended.

They have a good generalized selection considering the marketplace now-a-days. It is difficult for any electronics store to stay current and also stay in business. So, I am very appreciative to have such a retailer in Santa Cruz.

Last local electronics holdout that I'm aware of. They have what I am looking for 25% of the time. But that is 100% more than anywhere else now that Fry's is gone. 5/5 stars because it's better than not having it. The prices are not particularly bad and worth it for parts I need same day. Support you local businesses!

I have had my computers repaired by these experts for many years. They are the absolute best. They explain what they're doing and are very helpful. Their prices are most reasonable. They are honest. I am definitely glad to have them around.

Excellent experience. Needed a backup drive and memory expansion for my laptop. Mike helped me with not only the right parts but took time to show me how. Support these local champs!

I like the selection of items at this store, even though it's more computer oriented products. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful with queries. They have ample supply of soldering supplies, which is what I usually need. I do wish that they would carry more variety of products though.

More organized than your usual electrics store, considering the stock variety. They have a wider selection and older stuff than RadioShack. I called ahead looking for a somewhat obscure cable and the guy on the phone found it in ten seconds. Super helpful!

Amazing service!! My shipped computer would get no display after shipping and no hard drive activity light. I feared for the worst and came in expecting bad news, a bill for diagnostics and a list of parts I would need to replace.

Within 5 minutes my rig was working (loose cpu bolts) and no charge whatsoever. I lucked out not only with my desktop problem but also the great service provided by Paul.

They have a great selection. Lots of adapters, connectors and cords. They also have a great selection of individual electronic parts, resistors, capacitors, inductors, switches, that sort of thing. They also have a good selection of Arduino Shields and sensors. They carry high quality tools. I love the Wiha screwdrivers! And for something completely different, they carry a line of very nice, smallish "personal" type CNC Machining centers. The only thing I have slightly negative to say is their prices are a bit high but that's to be expected for a small local business. I don't mind paying a little bit more with local jobs are involved.

I have been frequenting SCE for years. I try to support this local, valuable establishment when ever I can. I always receive friendly, knowledgeable service. Good folks over there!

Great place to get electrical components! This is my go to place for all the projects I start. There are many different resistor values as well as connectors to choose from. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.

since radio shack closed, this is the only place in town where you can find expert advice on electronics and repair. I've been buying small components here recently and the prices are fair and reasonable. the staff is friendly and eager to help.

Almost bought the wrong USB cable and the guy at the counter actually noticed and asked if I was sure that's what I needed. I was blown away by this simple thing. That's what you get for shopping at an electronics store where the people working there actually know about electronics!

At first I thought the cable was overpriced, but I was on the clock. So I actually saved my boss money by not driving elsewhere. Their stuff may seem expensive, but remember you're paying to keep one of the last true electronics stores alive. And given the time savings, the prices might not be so bad in the bigger picture.

Very helpful people and knowledgeable. I prefer buying from this local shop than elsewhere because of their knowledge. And if they don't stock a particular item they will still talk to you about your needs and not try to sell you something you don't need.

One of the of the last Electronic component dealers in Santa Cruz county. Good helpfull folks, a selection of the most common parts, and they are open late. The negitaves are they dont have everything the internet has and their prices are higher. But if you need it today or you want to talk to someone knowledgeable, they are here.
