Montgomery's Barber Shop

Our first time at this shop. In fact, nearly a first time in any barber shop: usually, my husband's hair is cut by the women of the family, and he trims his beard himself. Had a great experience consistent with what other reviewers here reported. An awesome professional haircut and beard trim by Ramona!

From the second we walked in, the way she welcomed us in, right away helped relax the slight anxiety we had about going to this place. Oh and while you wait, it's so fun to watch both the barbers do their work.

We had called ahead and made an appointment. With that, the wait (around noon on a Saturday) was about 15 or 20 mins, and the hair cut itself took under 15 mins. The whole thing seemed so pleasant and easy, I now ask myself how come we haven't discovered this years ago!

Ramona gives me by far the best haircuts I've ever had in my life. Intuitively knows exactly what I want, whether I bring an exact picture or a rough idea. Efficient, quick, professional, welcoming, and a good price. I especially want to share with queer/LGBT folks that every time I go to Ramona it's a super affirming experience. I can bring my dog and I once brought my nephew in for a cut too.

Memorabilia everywhere. It's nice to look at while I'm getting my hair cut.
Also my hair always looks amazing when I come out. I will only get my hair cut here for as long as I live in Santa Cruz.

This is my second visit. Romona has cut my hair both times. I hear other people work in the shop, but I've never seen them. Romona does great work and I find the out to Santa Cruz well worth the cut and cost. Romona also has a wicked sense of humor that I absolutely love.

The only place I get my hair cut now. Ramona always gives me something my wife will like, even if I don't know what to get. Also, the inside is like a mini museum of barber history, like walking into the past, it's so cool. They only take cash, so come prepared, and you'll get a great cut!

This place is amazing! Ramona does a great job and everyone there is very friendly. The wait wasn't too long even for a Saturday morning. While waiting and looking around at how cool the place is I was offered free coffee and donuts. My haircut was quick, very reasonably priced and just the way I wanted it. I highly recommend giving Montgomery's a chance.

If you are in a hurry, Ramona does a wonderful job and gets you in and out quickly. If you aren't, Jesse is meticulous and takes his time to make sure you look great before you go out the door.

Always a great haircut. I used to wait for a walk in spot, but came to hate it. Now I just make an appointment. Costs more but so worth it to me. Ramona is the only hair cutter for me, and I've tried a lot.

Love this place for my son. There is always a bit if a wait - but don't be discouraged if the waiting area is packed! They move pretty quickly, and if you have a kiddo, they have toys. all the barbers are really friendly and super talented - Jeremy did the latest cut and it is a big hit! A real gem.

Ramona did a great job cutting my hair today. I wasn't really sure of what I wanted when I came in, but she cut it just right and I was very happy with the results! I also got my first ever straight-razor shave done here, and I was very impressed. She took her time with me, even though others were waiting, and did it right. I was extremely satisfied, and I'm definitely coming again!

Came to Santa Cruz on a trip to visit my friends that attend UCSC. I haven't gotten a haircut for a month and a half so I was long overdue for one. I decided to get one while I was up there and Yelp reviews for Montgomery's were very good. I went over and even though there was a long line the service and cut were absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, local or not.

As a student I value a good bargain, but I do not want to cut the quality of my haircuts for the price. At Montgomery's you DO NOT get that, however, it is the place to go when you need a quick fresh cut. I have been going here ever since I came to Santa Cruz and that is because of Ramona. This lady can do it all, literally she is running the place all by herself, and with lines stretching outside of her shop you can count on her to not get your haircut wrong. I wish that more people can experience the magic that Ramona does when she is in work, but if not then you still have this loyal customer.

Such a great barbershop. Well worth the often long waits throughout the day. Lots of unique antiques and conversation pieces on the walls and a variety of magazines to read while you wait. Was cash only at least the last time I got a cut, so make sure to have some on hand. ATMs are in the area though in case you forget. Great local spot to talk with people in the area, so I recommend putting down your phone and chatting it up while you wait.

Ramona is the best. Been getting chopped at Montgomery's for 15 years. Won't get anywhere else....literally. I moved to Mendocino about 6 months ago and I STILL won't see anyone else. That's about 5 hours one way just to get cut....So yeah like I said, Ramona is the sh!t

This place is the bomb diggity! Really the only people I've found that know how to do beards. Ramona knows her stuff!

Ramona was quick and fast, gave me just the cut I wanted! Prices are affordable ($20-$25), wait time anywhere between 15m to an hour though! They take appointments though.

Ramona is the best. She cares about her customers and her service. She doesn't rush, she takes her time and also gives styling advice about what you could do. I highly recommend that you come here. She knows what she is doing and knows a lot
