Severe dental anxiety here, so bad that I actively avoided the dentist for years. Dr. Schumway and his team were so good with me. They were so gentle and handled my anxiety well. By far the most pleasant experience I’ve had at a dental office. I showed up to my appointment in an active panic attack and left feeling excited about restoring my oral health. 10/10 recommend! My appointment was a little over two hours ago and I’ve already recommended my friend there.

Dr. Shumway cares about his patients. It's obvious by the way he treats you when you are in his chair. He is thoughtful and explains every step of the procedure you are having done. From the time you walk in the door and Tiffany puts a smile on your face, until the end when the wonderful assistants make sure you are 100 percent comfortable with your procedure. I highly recommend him and his wonderful staff.

I would give Dr. Shumway and his team a 10 star rating if I could. They go above and beyond for their patients. It’s such a wonderful environment. My family and I have a great experience with every appointment and every staff member. They go out of their way to make sure we are comfortable and know the plan process. They’re such a caring & kind hearted team. I highly recommend!!!

Dr Shumway is amazing! He over explained each part of the process to help soothe my severe dental anxiety. He is very knowledgeable and has put my brain a little at ease after a few years of negative dental experiences.

I have gone through a lot of dentists, and this is by far the best I’ve ever had. Everyone at the clinic is gentle and friendly, and they do a great job taking the time to explain what they are doing and answering questions. I am so happy my son-in-law referred me to them!

I’m so thankful to have found Spokane Family Smiles. I’ve had some dental trauma in the past making me very anxious for anything dental and this office is such a calm and welcoming environment. Dr. Shumway and his staff have all been wonderful. The ladies out front were able to get me in quickly and made sure I felt comfortable the minute I walked in the door. Both hygienists I’ve seen have been amazing with their bedside manners and gentle touch with cleaning and numbing me up which I often struggle with. Lastly Dr. Shumway has been so kind and is very honest which I really appreciated since I was initially coming in for a second opinion. He gives you options and makes sure you thoroughly understand what he’s recommending by taking pictures and going over everything in detail with you. I’m so glad I switched myself and kids to Spokane Family Smiles and would definitely recommend them to others!

I take my whole family to Dr. Shumway. He seems to be a dentist that tries to do the least invasive procedure he possibly can.
We went to another local pediatric dentist and they quoted 3,000 to put 3 crowns on baby teeth and sedation. Which seemed a lot of overkill.
Dr. Shumway and his staff did a great job building a relationship with my 9 yr old this past year and kept my child calm while filling the worst tooth without sedation(child is not special needs, just first cavity anxiety.).
He has also done a wonderful job on my crown and leaking fillings, my husbands resurfacing and many cavities, and they are wonderful keeping my 7 and 3 year old happy during the visits, and they love the toy area.
Their staff is always friendly. And they have the best vanilla mint chapstick that they put in your goodie bag.

I love this office. The Dr and his staff are so compassionate and accommodating. I have anxiety when it comes to dental work but he offers help in that department. I feel Dr Shumway is honest and trustworthy. I'm very thankful I found this office.

Very comfortable dentist experience. I had a root canal on a back tooth and needed some pain medicine that I wasn't familiar with. The staff were very friendly and explained everything thoroughly. Really appreciated all their help

I had my first appointment with Spokane Family Smiles today and was so pleased! I've always struggled with dental anxiety and have put off visiting a dentist for the past few years, but upon seeing a recommendation from a friend about Spokane Family Smiles and their specialty in making things comfortable and easy for the patient, I decided to give it a try. While I was nervous going in, the staff instantly made me feel at home and checked in frequently throughout my appointment to ensure that I was doing okay. Dr. Shumway is so kind and personable and had me feeling at ease in regards to my care. They care about their patients, and it really shows! Best dental experience I've ever had.

Dr. Shumway and his amazing staff are fantastic! Every time I go there, I get the atmosphere of kindness,generosity, and excellent professional service! They really go the extra mile to make sure you are getting all your dental needs and to make sure you are comfortable. Never been disappointed! They always take good care of me and my boyfriend! Going to the dentist is normally very daunting for me but Dr. Shumway came highly recommended so I made appointments for my husband and myself. I had a cap come loose on my front tooth and needed to have it repaired ASAP. The entire staff is wonderful. I’ve already had some work done and honestly was amazed at how comfortable they made me feel! I would highly recommend them to anyone, especially someone who is fearful of dental work.

By far the best dentist I have had. I never took care of my teeth as a child so, into adulthood I’ve had a lot of problems. I have used many dentists and Dr. Shumway has been the best. It was nice being able to have some oral surgery procedures done in his office instead of having to go somewhere else. He makes sure you’re always comfortable and explains what he is doing every step of the way.

Extremely friendly staff. Doctor took time to explain and review X-rays and pictures that were taken. He gave options and recommendations. He did a thorough exam and again explained everything. The hygienist was very particular and concerned about my teeth being so sensitive.
This was an outstanding experience and I could not have left more happy. Excellent service. Would recommend to friends, family and anyone looking for a dentist
