Forks of Cheat Winery

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a winery with a host who made the experience truly exceptional. Not only were we warmly welcomed and allowed to try a variety of delicious wines, but the host's expertise as a beekeeper added an intriguing twist to the tasting. It was a delightful and memorable visit. Highly recommended!

We make a trip to Forks of Cheat each year all the way from Baltimore. We joke that we make an annual trip to visit the moonshiner! All kidding aside, the Big Deal Rye is worth the long trip. The moonshine is very good, as is the wine (I personally like the sweet fruit wines). There is a lovely deck area for sitting and sipping. The staff is always friendly and get a kick out of our annual stock-up. I highly recommend Forks of Cheat!

Jeff n Susan Deal know how to make you enjoy a Sunday afternoon filled with great wine! Hidden gem along a country road and worth the short trip. You won't be disappointed. Sit back, sip, munch some snacks and enjoy the view... we'll be back !

Best Wine Ever!! We live 2hrs away from here and still make the trip down several times a year.

Loved this location! We got to taste some wonderful wines and spirits. They also have a spot for events!! It also didn't hurt that there were some kitties present. Like Mr. Oscar here.

We visited this winery on a recent May Friday afternoon. It is in such a beautiful setting with a large deck where you can sip your wine as you look out on the mountain views! We purchased a chilled bottle of Schwarzer Bar as recommended by a helpful winery employee after we explained our preference for semi-dry and dry wines. She put it in an ice bucket and handed us 2 wine glasses to take outside to the deck. We also bought cheese and salami for which she gave us a knife and cutting board. The wine was absolutely refreshing and delicious! The day was a 90 degree day so it hit the spot! We had a wonderful time on the deck! Before leaving we purchased 3 bottles of wine and can't wait to try them. We will be back as it is not a very far drive from Pittsburgh.

Forks of Cheat is our local winery with the absolute best wines. This year's Van Buren is the absolute best. A tranquil environment to taste and then relax on the deck with our fav wine. Absolutely an experience I have to have often to feel the solitude and West Virginia vibes. Don't deprive yourself of this opportunity if you are in the area! Cheers to Jerry Deal!!

The Van Buren and Blueverry wines are epic. Service is always great. Love the outdoor patio to sit and get a great view of the WV mountains. Highly recommended!

Lovely shop with a knowledgeable staff. They carry both local wine, spirits, and food stuffs. The indoor and outdoor seating have a amazing view and they also have live music and food trucks during the summer.

I haven’t visited the winery, but bought a bottle of their Blueberry wine in Martinsburg. It’s my new favorite wine! Sweet, fruity and absolutely delicious.

Cute place for good wine. Has a nice outdoor seating area overlooking the valley. Really enjoyed the Bad Cat and blackberry wines.

Huge variety of wine. Each wine we had was amazing and priced very fair. Service was great and staff was very friendly. Some reviews/website mention their distillery. It is a small one, so do not expect a ton of moonshine, but they do have a small selection.

I was the only person in the tasting room when I stopped in, and I had a great conversation with the guy behind the counter, who was very knowledgeable about the winery and the area. Nice variety of wines and liquors, though not all estate grown. All their estate wines seemed to be hybrids or fruit wines, which is reasonable given the area. I'm not a big fan of sweet wine, but I tried a couple of their fortified wines, which were good for dessert.

My husband was born and raised in Morgantown and was raised on this wine. He introduced me to this winery 7 years ago and we visit and stock up on wine at least once a year. If you are looking for sweet wines or fruit wines, this is your spot. If you are looking for a view to see the mountains this is your place. One of my favorite places in Morgantown. ❤
