Independently owned and operated. Very well stocked. I only go in for gift certificates at holiday times but it’s busy with folks who know about fishing or want to learn more about fishing the area. My brother in law stops here before going to the Farmington to check on conditions and of course to get a few things. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable

I’ve been going to this shop for a long time. You couldn’t ask for a better fly shop.The staff goes out of their way to help you if needed. There is a great selection of tying materials and hooks. They have lots of rods and reels to choose from and I love their used rod/reels section. You never know what your gonna find at discount. The days of the smaller shops and personalized service is disappearing and I’m grateful Upcountry is still around. Keep up the good work.

This is a great fly shop. Grady runs a great business and is also a nice guy. Joey and Jake were really helpful getting me get outfitted with some Simms waders and I also wound up trading some older equipment in for one of the new Diamondback euro rods. If you’re in the area, stop in.

Great place to get advice and fly fishing gear. I bought my first “beginner” rod and reel combo for $180 and with their advice on the right fly for fishing the Farmington river nearby, I almost caught a fish. I say almost because as I was reeling it in, it took my newly purchased fly and flew! Rookie mistake in tying the fly on the leader. Next time!

For me, a new fly reel was a major purchase. I was treated respectfully without any effort to upsell me or add to my expenses. Heck, I looked around and bought sunglasses, too.
Knowledgeable staff and they provided useful maps. I will be back, for sure.

Awesome little store with a nice selection of products and even better customer service. Their knowledgeable staff are fantastic at helping even the most novice fly fisherman get on the water and land trout. I am very grateful for their recommendations on spots to try and fly patterns to use.

Gone a couple times before in the past the employees were always kind courteous helpful. Been thinking about getting into fly fishing for a few years and finally made the leap, i asked the guy behind the desk for help with "getting the stuff to learn how to fly fish" and he really went above and beyond, showed me the different options with reels, poles got me everything I needed to go fly fishing today and even gave me a couple things extra. And at a really affordable price. A new way to fish I can't wait! Great place and even better service.

If you are meeting Jeff Yates here for a guided day of fishing on the Farmington River ... cannot recommend a better guide or fishing store. Make sure to use the bathroom if only to see the Orvis Helios sticker in the loo. I am agnostic, but apparently tribal allegiances run deep.

I purchased a used reel and extra spool via their online store. They have great email updates informing you when your order goes into the next step of the process (i.e. order confirmation, shipped, etc.). My order arrived quickly and was in better condition than I had anticipated/could gather from pictures online. It was listed as "great" but "mint" would have been more accurate. Fair prices and fast shipping. Overall a very pleasant buying experience. I will definitely be perusing their online section for more used goodies in the future.

When they say "shop local" this is what they mean. The number one place to be is run by a wonderful family who are absolute experts regarding the Farmington river. Competitive prices and very kid friendly. If I could give 11,275 stars, I would. Don't shop anywhere else.

Excelllent selection. Knowledgeable and passionate staff. I went in to get informed about fly fishing and all the employees took the time to discuss the sport with me. They hooked me up with a store made rig to get me started. I love local stores like this and they have won me as a loyal customer. I wouldn't go anywhere else after my experience here.

What a delightful treasure. I was looking to find information for a day's fishing, and found the staff eager to show me what they had, and to encourage my efforts. While UpCountry Sportfishing was somewhat busy while I was there, the staff took time and certainly did not look down on my newbie questions. There was no hard sell at this well stocked store, and I am looking into classes that they offer to learn more about the local conditions. A real find!

Everything you can ever need for fly fishing is here! I've been going here for years. The staff is knowledgeable. I've traded in a rod for an upgrade. Sometimes I just like to stare at all the things I want to buy, but don't need, but still want anyways. Great selection of fly tying materials. A staple in New England fly fishing.

I'm new to fishing the Farmington. I found the staff here to be friendly and knowledgeable about the river. Great selection of gear and accessories.
