Railway Cafe

First time at this local Winsted establishment and very impressed. We arrived just after 11 AM which is when they take down the breakfast menu so we were only exposed to their lunch offerings - ended up taking their pulled pork BBQ sandwich and their tomato bisque soup - both very much to our liking. Coffee was nice and hot, service prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly. Decor and vibe are great. They go to a lot of trouble to use local ingredients with a farm-to-table ethic where possible. They make their own potato chips - very good. We will definitely be back and will definitely recommend to folk visiting with us from out of town.

Street entrance has steps - we had crutches and were able to easily enter using their side/kitchen entrance. Wheelchair would have been very tricky.

They have outside seating and various separate spaces inside.

I was shocked by how above expectations everything was. Caesar wrap, egg salad sandwich we're good, but the real stars of the show were the homemade potato chips. Those are, legit incredible. Additionally my vanilla latte was soooo smooth and creamy with great flavor. All the natural lighting compliments the cafe excellently and makes this place worth a stop in

When the menu is small, the Food will be good. The menu here is small, and the food was superb. It was easy to pick what I wanted.

The food itself was really good and made fresh. The hot chocolate with whipped cream wasn't overly sweet, I deeply appreciated that. The eggs and vegetables were cooked perfectly. 10/10 highly recommend.

Prices are also very affordable and the food is filling.

The staff was very attentive and cheerful. They carried themselves courteously and graciously. This place is one to visit if you're ever in the Winstead area.

Stopped here with ny husband yesterday and enjoyed a delicious meal together. Street parking was easy, we got a spot right out front. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, good coffee, and cute (well decorated) space. I got the special grilled cheese with ricotta and caramelized onions, absolutely scrumptious as the bread was well toasted and not at all burnt. My husband got the BBQ chicken wrap the ingredients were perfectly balanced, sauce wasn't oozing out. The floor to ceiling windows are a fun feature and allowed us to peek out at the foliage. A gem of a cafe; we'll be back when we're in the area again.

Me and my Wife have been coming here every Saturday for breakfast for a while. Place is great, cozy and rustic looking. Staff is great, always smiling and making sure you are well served. Food is fantastic, great quality and taste. Love this place and definitely recommend.

Oh so delicious ! Winsted truthfully needed this lovely Café. This Café has fantastic servers and food items ! You won't be disappointed AT ALL. And they have an icecream shoppe next door...how could you not love that! 10/10 in my books. The Ham and Cheese Sammie, refreshing cold lemonade, and chicken Caesar were all sooo good! Will be back.

Had a really wonderful lunch with hubby the other day. The food was excellent and plentiful (I even brought home half for another meal), the atmosphere was charming and Piper, our server was delightful. We will definitely be back!

Best cinnamon rolls ever. Had the goat cheese and cranberry salad was amazing! Delicious! Many foods are fresh and yummy

I went here for the first time for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is quaint with beautiful paintings on the walls and an intimate atmosphere. There is also outside seating if you prefer to eat outdoors. Their coffee menu was amazing and offered a ton of different flavors and options. The menu is small but the food was phenomenal!! The waitstaff were very pleasant and upbeat and made the whole experience amazing.

Excellent food, lattes and service. I live locally and this is my favorite place to come for breakfast!

Awesome service, friendly wait staff and hometown atmosphere. My fiance said it was the best Reuben she ever had. Have to try the ice cream as well! I would've have taken pictures, but the food smelled too good to wait! Best breakfast/lunch around, always a 10/10. Great takeout and chocolate chip cookies too!

Such a cute, friendly place! Everything I've gotten from there so far (bagels, wraps, and lattes) have been absolutely delicious. The Buffalo chicken wrap is incredible🤤 Also, the staff is always extremely pleasant. Definitely recommend.

I’ve been wanting to come here and glad we finally did! It’s exactly what Winsted needs for casual but upscale dining and decor for breakfast and lunch. Love this place! Do not hesitate! I had the pecan , caramel French toast with real maple syrup. To die for!

The coolest place for many miles. Family owned and operated, and they're all fantastic. Cinnamon rolls have to be from off planet.

Shame the others only left a 5 star review. So I am all in and bump it another two stars. Clearly the best breakfast we ever had. We also missed the boat. The table next to us ordered the waffle with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Looked so good we will be back. FYI in case I was not clear. A must visit reco. Service was also amazingly mg.

I took my parents here while they were in town visiting and they would not stop talking about how amazing this place is! It's gorgeously decorated and themed inside and the food is simple yet flavorful. The menu may look small but don't let that fool you, there's something for everyone here! And they sell homemade baked goods to take home, super cute!

The food is excellent. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy with eggs. I think I've found our new breakfast spot in the area. The staff was very helpful, even though they were packed on a weekend morning.

One of the best breakfast places I've ever been... The environment is cozy, the food is delicious, and NICOLE our waitress, is always awesome, she is very attentive, thoughtful and efficient... We eat there every weekend and the service have not changed... Definitely recommend!
