Rain or shine great spot for a hike.

The museum is accessible on a trail from the Matthies Grove parking lot, or a short walk/drive up Greenwoods Road. May 28th was the opening day for the 2022 season. The taxidermy and dioramas are fun, but I had the best time speaking with the caretaker today. Questions were asked, with answers given, regarding wildlife, local history, and the creation of the People's State Forest. The museum is free, but donations are welcome.

It's a fun hike especially if uou know the history of charcoal and clear cutting in CT
