During a quiet Friday afternoon, my friend and I enjoyed a relaxed visit to the Engine Room, sampling a fine selection of IPAs at the bar. The venue’s cozy blend of industrial and modern vibes set the perfect tone. We kicked off with the cowboy dip, a spicy and creamy delight, paired with the crispest tortilla chips - highly recommended. I then savored a chicken sandwich with pickles and bib lettuce, a savory masterpiece. Our experience was nothing short of delightful, and we’re already planning to return for more culinary explorations. The Engine Room’s inviting atmosphere and tempting menu have us hooked.

Great atmosphere, and rich with history (which they have written on one of the walls). We stopped in for brunch, and ordered the bananas foster French toast, which was good, but what really blew us away was the bagel we got with lox and cream cheese. As a New Yorker, it’s pretty hard to impress me with a bagel, but these were outstanding. After our meal, we tried to get some to take with us to bring home to family and friends, but were told they only make a dozen or two unless you order them specifically in advance, which I suggest you do. Trust me. Good service, and decent Bloody Mary.

Overall great place that we would happily go back to. Couple of pointers:

1) the mussels are awesome - get them
2) the chipotle chicken and the pulled pork are their best sandwiches, and even the the burger is good, those are even better
3) always make a reservation - they are busy
4) the amber ale and the scotch ale are fantastic. The scotch ale is kind of like a brown ale with some spices in it... Not sure how else to explain it

My wife and I went here for our 5 year anniversary. Everything was great from the food to the atmosphere. A special shout out to our waitress Nicole. Her service was phenomenal.

The kitchen staff clearly takes pride in their food and everything we had from the Cowboy Jam to the Grass-fed Burger to the Steak Frites was incredible.

This was our first trip to Mystic and we will be coming back to the Engine Room on our next visit!

This place was pretty cool inside. It was on the darker side but it was nice for a change if that's not the atmosphere you're typically used to when you're out to dinner. The food was absolutely outstanding as was the cocktail I tried. It sounded like a bizzare concoction but it would out of this world. I wouldn't categorize this as a strong drink, but if you actually like to taste something yummy from the drink you order, this one is for you. Here is what I ordered: The Chameleon Cup #3 and the Chicken Burger. 10/10 and then some. A delicious spot for a quick getaway.

We came on a Friday evening. There was at least a half hour wait for a table so we waited for seats at the bar. It worked out well because service at the bar was very good. We ordered the Thai soup and the vegetable plate with hummus, and the mae burger with mushrooms cooked medium. It came with fries that are AWESOME. The food was very good. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. The place may not be good for a date because the noise level is too high for a conversation unless you know sign language. Parking is available in back. Parking on the street or in front is limited.

One of the best comfort food meals I’ve had. Outstanding. The cornbread is made from unique historic cornmeal and was sooo sooo good. The fish and chips was ENORMOUS literally a whole fish. And the same cornmeal batter was incredible. Had a little kick. The Cobb salad had shredded rotisserie chicken on it and huge pieces of avocado.

Dad had the steamed mussels and said they were the best he ever had.

The value at this restaurant is incredible. Such good food. 5 stars.

I'm simple. I like simple things, familiar flavors, and not a bunch of extra stuff. At nicer places, this tends to be an issue. But here, I just had to ask for no whipped cream. Do you have plain butter, salt, etc? They accommodated my picky ways like it was no issue what so ever. And everything was exactly as ordered. I ordered the Chocolate Carmel Pretzel Milkshake without whipped cream and a coke/pepsi to drink. Then, Davis Farm Cornbread with regular butter, House Cut Seasoned Fries and Monkey Bread for dessert. The portion of fries was huge. Which was great, I had some to take home for later. Everything tasted so good, was fresh, delicious, and perfect. I wish they had more "booth" style options for seating. I requested a booth, and they sat us next to 4 college girls who were hyped af. Haha, it was not an ideal seating arrangement with so many other empty seats, but I asked for a booth, so I guess that's what I get. Parking is doable in the off-season (non summer). I found a spot right in the front lot, but there is also another small lot behind their building, off the side street. Otherwise, you have to parallel park on street.

One of our favorite places to eat in town every time we’re in Mystic. The beer selection is great. The ambiance is quite nice.

The burgers are absolutely fantastic and that’s what makes us come back every time.

The Marlon Brando cocktail addition on the menu was also great.

Nice restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, tons of outdoor seating, and great food. Beer selection was expansive and the menu had a variety of solid entrees. Steak frites had a great garlic aeoli with a perfect medium rare cook. The fries were wedge cut and slightly undercooked for their thickness. Good service and definitely worth a stop.

Well, if you want photos, I’m not your guy the second the food came out we dug in. I would recommend the Wings and their delicious Cornbread as an appetizer and their “Hangover Burger” as the main course, although I do believe they should definitely offer the perfect onion rings as a side, still one of the most creative and well seasoned burgers I’ve had to date. To finish it all off I would recommend their really good Apple Fritters, that are served with a light caramel sauce that is ice cold (a nice contrast to the fresh warm fritters). The only issue was the long wait while I do understand that Sunday brunch is definitely a hot time I do believe a 2 hour meal was a little excessive.

Rustic restaurant with open kitchen where you can see incredible food being prepared. Very impressed with what I tried. Fish sandwich was a perfect combination of creamy dressing over crispy texture. Thinly shaved cabbage for the cole slaw…my goodness! Fresh flowers adorned the tables and dim lights created a nice atmosphere. It was great. Sublime food. Highly recommend. Need to go again.

Mystic has a lot of rather highly rated restaurants with just as high prices, but I've found that the food quality doesn't live up to the ratings or price.

Not the case here! Absolutely the best food I've had in the surrounding area, rivals my favorite restaurants in DC and Philly, and still maintains the kind local service attitude.

Portions are large, flavors are creative, and the drink menu is incredible. Truly not a bad thing to say about Engine Room.

It's great overall. The food is delicious, nice selection of beers, inventive cocktails.
Good interior, plenty of space. The only downside - it is quite noisy. Almost impossible to have a conversation because of the loud music.
This is our second visit (we were in October of 2018 before) and we still give it a 5 start rating.
We had a burger, a chicken sandwich and fish and chips with a sauce flight - liked everything (except French fries).
Ocean vesper cocktail was great, we liked mushroom IPA too

Excellent food, drink and atmosphere! In winter it was busy, but they still quickly found seating for our party of 7 without reservations (I wouldn't expect that in-season). The food was amazing and the service was great! Highly recommend!

You just cannot get a bad meal at the Engine Room. The menu is full of variety and fresh ideas executed with quality. I have gone for Sunday brunch with my wife every valentines weekend, we have never left hungry or disappointed. The atmosphere is fantastic, pulling on the old shipyard aesthetic Mystic is known for but with a bit of industrial vibes. It’s great food, in a cool place, without breaking the bank; win all around.
