Fort Des Moines Park

Beautiful park with a nice lake.

The playground equipment is nice too, and includes swings which is always a huge bonus for us. There is lots of space throughout the park so you can always find your own space all to yourself. The people I come across here are always pleasant and polite.

Great park to have on the southside!

Nice in town park. Well-groomed trails. The one around the lake is maybe a mile and all the trails combined is probably only a couple miles. They have good trail signs and educational signs talking about the different ecosystems in the park.

Great place. I fished and caught 6 fish in 1 hour from the shore.

Park was beautiful, good hiking area, very relaxing, amazing views, definitely a nice place to get away from the city and nice to bring you family along. 10/10 recommended.

We love this park! The walking trail around the park is the perfect distance for walking our aging pup, and there are plenty of smells for him to discover. The park is well kept and has a variety of native plants, as well as signs that provide information about the wildlife. We always see people fishing there. The shelters are often being utilized for functions like birthday parties or cookouts. It's a great community space that we absolutely love.

Fishing,relaxing quite place, nice place to take pics, just watch out for ticks if u out walking your dog if off trail .wheel chair friendly but twirl has some hills when u get in to the walk ..people out there friendly n there dogs are too..

Great place to fish. Had a lot of fun today. The park is well kept and beautiful. Lots of fish, bluegill, channel catfish, and bass. The trails are well maintained and free of garbage. Would rate higher than 5 star if it was possible!

My boys and I have been going to this park for years and winter has to be the best time of year to visit to see the wildlife

Usually always a nice place to go for a calm and chill walk with the Family or the Fur-babies. Lol. Especially if you get there right before sunset. Its always fun to take pictures of the sunset and get the mirror image reflecting off the water!

The water is very clear.park is clean and I grabbed up a bass right away threw her back in for someone else's enjoyment

Trail around the lake is great. Lots of nice things have happened at this park. Worth a visit. Better than ever lots of improvements. 🚴🏼‍♂✌😷

I love the history of this place. I was happy to see there is a lake. It is full of space and tons of deer! They have bench swings around the lake and playground for kids.....etc. Go see!!

Kids had a blast fishing for the first time. Really a beautiful park like a hidden gem lol perfect place for a picnic or grilling out.

Nice place to stretch your legs. Well maintained trails.

Very nice area. The walking path was clean and saw and heard plenty of wildlife. Was shaded enough to have a midday picnic.

Very nice. Walking trails. Fishing. Playground for kids. You might see wildlife (deer) passing through. Great place to relax and enjoy nature.
