MacRae Park

Love the new improvements to this park! There is a natural playscape, water play and sand box with several picnic areas plus the water boardwalk and overlook! The loop through the park is a one way which is so much safer to walk and bike around! Good job, parks& rec!

First time there since I was a teen, and it is so gorgeous right now. I've never wanted to go back until now. They've really upgraded it!

Lots of great spaces in this park. It's a pretty steep incline in some places, so be warned if you're walking/running/biking here. The hills create great little "areas" from the overlook to the tennis court and shelter, the playground and picnic area, to the pond and bridges.

Clean park with new upgrades. Great place ro walk. Nice indoor lodge and outdoor open picnic area to rent. Sand, playground, and splash pad for kids. Beautiful walkways and bridges across pond. Amazing outlook over the city.

It’s amazing when Des Moines invests in cool places for all to enjoy. I’m however irritated with all of the vandalism. I know the park has a reputation and it’s looking like the south side needs to get some pride back. The natural playscape and shelters are great. View is sweet! Fishing will be good in a few years.

First time back since the updates and construction have been done and it is really nice! There's a cool nature play scape for kids, a fun swing, and water "splash pad" to play in. There's also the Lookout which is cool and there's a new bridge for fishing.

Really good place to workout, meditation or just to go for a walk. Really quite and beautiful place to take some pictures. Definitely coming back before snow.

a nice small park. Lots of big oak trees on rolling hills. Lots of improvements underway to enjoy soon.

Looks like the park is starting to clean up really nice. New overlook of downtown and what looks to be a new lake they are digging out.

Just discovered this place very recently! I love taking my motorcycle up to the lookout point after sun down to see our city’s beautiful skyline! It’s a unique spot to show your friends and family.

Love to cruise this park! Fave place to rub one out

I live this tiny little beach and area. It's nice, with actual toilets and easy access to the water. Tourists dont come here because you have to go through an industrial area. Great family place.

Outstanding view of the downtown Des Moines area. Breathe taking at certain times. If clarity is what you seek the point will deliver, check it out.

Very hilly. Nice for a good power walk. Many improvements over the years, including a platform with the best view of downtown. New trails, picnic, and play areas opening soon. Topnotch.

Shelter house was a great place for birthday party.

We went to the splash pad and playground here on a hot Saturday. Both the splash pad and the playground next to it have a natural vibe with trees and rocks to encourage climbing and exploring.

Had my small wedding in the shelter. It was clean and smelled like Pinesol. I will definitely use this place again.

Offers a small pond to fish. It is conveniently located near water works park and Gray's lake park. Local businesses nearby in case you got hungry and didn't want to drive far. Overall great place with great views from the catwalk near the north side
