Dam spillway is amazing, quite the experience. Riveting to watch knowing if you fell in would not survive one minute. Clean, well maintained little park with many friendly and considerate fellow visitors

A great campground at the end of the Saylorville Lake. We went during the week, so the campground was very quiet, but I imagine it fills up quickly on Fridays during the summer. Bathrooms and showers were clean. The only "problem" were the vechicals at night on the top of the dam being obnixous! :)

This campgrounds was great. I lucky found it on Google. I reserved the sight months ahead of time on the website. It was very cost friendly, only twenty dollars a day. Each site has electrical hook ups but no water. There are very nice bathrooms with showers located near by, they were nice and clean and spacious. The site's all have nice fire pits and picnic tables. Also running right through the back of the camp ground is the des moines river, coming from the damn of saylorville lake. They're are lots of people who come there to fish. I gave it a try but didn't catch anything. I don't think I had the right bait. It was very pretty seeing the sun rise and the moon rise. I recommend staying here weather you have a camper or tent. And bring your fishing poles.

The campground was beautiful and there are trails to explore and you can drive up and park on the bridge that over looks the Saylorville Lake/ Dam. So many adventures to have there!

It is a beautiful place, I just wish people would carry out their trash and then some. Bring your grabbers and a bag and help pick up after those who throw trash along the river and on the grounds. Very frustrating.

We stayed a short three days, two nights mid week. It was fun watching the herons and the pelicans out fish the humans. Very relaxed atmosphere and quiet aside from the water and occasional vehicle.

We stayed at the min campground. Larger spaces, 30 Amp. We have a 34 ft 5th wheel with three slides and still plenty of room. Walked over and checked out Bob Shetler west campground. Those are tight spots.
Walked to check out Bob Shetler east. They have a couple pull through and offer 50 Amp. Average size sites over there.But... what you gain in amps. You give up in darkness. This campground is next to the spill way and the parking lot. White parking lot lights are on well into the night( went to bed so not sure afterwards).

I love taking my daughter to the spillway and grilling right there by the river. It's definitely one of her favorite places to go now and I have been going there since I was just a kid. Awesome place to take the family and spend an afternoon!!

The area is beautiful and very scenic. The campgrounds are clean with nice bathrooms. The seating in the shower stalls is not very big though. Very picturesque with fishing available in the area. The campground is closed for the winter season though.

Nice and quiet with friendly camp hosts and clean bathrooms... the sites have gravel pads big enough for a camper/rv and 10x10 canopy with room to spare

Iowa has some of the best rest stops in the Midwest. I've taken many roadtrips in the surrounding areas and you won't find anything better. One of the charms of the little flyover state. More than just corn, more than just cold weather. Iowa rest stops are the best.
