Midwest lock and Security

We suddenly had a need to use our front door for coming and going due to construction, but somehow had no keys to it. Midwest lock came out and re-keyed the front door to match our garage door, all done within an hour.

They had the key blank I needed. I returned in two days to get copies of my house keys as well. I will go to this place for all my key and lock needs in future. Very happy, thank you.

After losing a whole ring of my keys I had Midwest come out and re-key my whole house and my truck. The person who answered the phone was very knowledgeable and was able to provide me with an estimated cost. They were the cheapest of all the places I called. I was able to be put on the schedule the next day. When the tech arrived he did a complete walk-through and gave me a total cost before starting the work. It took the guy less than 2 hours to do my whole house and the truck! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and everyone I know.

We needed locks rekeyed for our new home. We had all the locks in hand, brand new 9 total. Another locksmith in south side quoted us $450. Midwest quoted us $10/lock. Turns out most of the locks had the same key so it was even cheaper... all said and done $30! They were honest, up front and so friendly!

This is the most fun I've ever had getting a key made. Twice.

The first time, I was in big trouble because I lost the only key to my work van. Chris took my VIN and ownership information and practically made a key out of thin air. It wasn't cheap, but have you ever tried pushing a fully loaded 1-ton box van? Worth it.

The second time was after the great flood of 2018. The guys at the shop were cleaning up after getting flooded and watching Armageddon and while still helping customers and having a good time.

Very fast response and got us inside during cold weather. Sad we had to use them as the spare key was literally on the table next to the door. If you ain’t smart like us and lock yourself out of your house, call Midwest lock and security. Very professional and fast!

Great service and friendly staff! They've made a bunch of specialty keys for me, including chip/transponder keys, and keys for a vintage motorcycle. They even identified that a hardware store used the wrong blank on key for my Jeep, and re-cut it properly. They are now my go-to locksmith, and I trust them for everything.

Needed duplicate fob keys for a 2014 Honda CRV, at their suggestion, we acquired some blank 3rd party keys via Amazon and in less than 30 minutes we had 2 more perfectly working keys at a FRACTION of what a dealership would charge! Fixed auto key switch in 20 minutes for $30.00. I called they came to my house in 25 minutes and fixed my back door locks. They installed all the door locks on my house. Very reasonable😊

Owner is one of the most knowledgeable locksmiths in Des Moines. I use Midwest Lock mainly for making keys so I don't get locked out of stuff when accidents happen. They were even able to make a key for my 1966 Ford Bronco when all I had was a lock cylinder.
