I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Marshall and her exceptional vet tech, Alexus, during the process of importing our puppy from Iowa to Hawaii, and I couldn't be more impressed with their professionalism and expertise. Dr. Marshall's knowledge and experience in veterinary care were truly remarkable. She guided us through the complex paperwork and requirements with ease, making the whole process stress-free.

Alexus, the vet tech, was equally amazing. She made sure our Nani was comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire journey, and her compassion was truly heartwarming.

Dr. Marshall and Alexus went above and beyond to ensure our puppy's safe and seamless transition to Hawaii. I can't express my gratitude enough for their dedication and support. If you're looking for a veterinarian and vet tech who genuinely care about your pet's well-being and are experts in their field, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Marshall and Alexus. They are an outstanding team, and I couldn't be happier with the service they provided.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The vet took the time to understand our concerns and explained all the options carefully. They were so great and we have a follow up visit to have surgery next week. We had a follow up visit for surgery today and the staff was so helpful. Our kitty is doing great. The vet was helpful explaining everything. They really care about the animals and their well-being. I definitely recommend you use this vet if you live in the area!

We have used Avondale for our dogs for the past 10 years and will continue to use them. They are so caring and kind. We have had appointments with almost all the doctors because they are all amazing. We know our pets are in good hands.

This place is pricey, but you definitely get the care that you pay for. It has separate cat/dog hospitals and also a pet resort. My cat needed major dental surgery and now the cat is as happy as ever after a quick recovery. They also did medication that released into the cats skin and lasts for 2 weeks, so I wouldn't have to fight with my cat to give her medication every day.

My little dog Birdie has suffered with joint pain and arthritis for years. She is 11 years old. Dr. Carlo has been so diligent with her care for a very long time, and recently suggested trying a monthly injection of Librela -- to replace another medication that seemed to be less effective for Birdie's needs. After the first dose, my little girl had more pep in her step within a couple days! As a matter of fact, my husband (who didn't know about the new course of medication yet) took Birdie out one morning and told me she hopped up the front porch steps all by herself -- when usually she would wait for us to pick her up and take her to the front door. He said, "Is that OK?" And I said, "YES! She actually feels better!" Thank goodness for Dr. Carlo for keeping an eye out for Birdie. I cannot say enough about VCA Avondale in general, too. They know us and love our pups! I'm grateful that Birdie has a doctor who advocates for her wellness. :)

Simply amazing, everyone was super sweet, and cared about their job and the frequent visitors of our fuzzy babies.
They kept me notified with updates on how my dog was doing before, going into, and after his surgery. I was also well informed to each step that would be taken while my dog was in their care.
Not a single bit of doubt came to my mind while my baby was in their care.

Highly recommend. Dr Carlo is amazing. We’ve had some unforeseen health issues with one of our pups and she has gone above and beyond to help. Nothing but positive things to say about the this facility and staff. Very friendly, prompt to respond and flexible with schedules. Overall just wonderful to work either.

I have been taking my cat Mojo to Avondale for 5 years. This year Dr. Williamson performed surgery to remove one of his eyes. I couldn't have asked for a better vet or staff. They kept me updated and Mojo has healed nicely. Whenever I take Mojo in he is always comfortable and happy to see the staff there.

Our dog was very ill and had to be euthanized. Our regular vet was closed, so we had to find a vet nearby that was open on a Saturday. Even though we weren't existing patients at Avondale, they were warm and welcoming and compassionate. We were given a private room and all the staff who came in knelt on the floor next to the comfy dog bed to see to her. They spoke softly and kindly and were very patient and understanding. We were not rushed or treated like strangers.
Despite it being a very sad day, I will never forget the goodheartedness of all the staff there.

I take my furbaby there for his Dr. visit and to the pet spa when he needs some good spa time he loves VCA

This is by far the best veterinary hospital in Des Moines. They truly care for the animals and make the animals feel loved there. They work with you through their injury or illness to make sure you know how to take care of your fur baby's the best way possible. I have now started taking my pups there and recommend them!!!

Our family will forever be thankful for Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Clinic for the care and treatment they have given to our dog Rosebud for the past 9 years. When Rosebud was one years old, she needed to have a double knee replacement or be put to sleep because she couldn't walk. After collaborating with the Veterinarians and Therapists, we agreed to the surgery and a comprehensive recovery plan using their underwater treadmill, and laser therapy. Rosebud healed great and even became a therapy dog bringing joy to others. Avondale Veterinary Healthcare and Clinic is a trustworthy and will do what it takes to ensure our pets lead healthy and happy lives.

My kitty is VERY nervous and afraid when at the vet. Everyone here is so kind and patient and truly concerned with making him comfortable. The vet's assistant is absolutely amazing, kind and comforting. I highly recommend this office.

I have to carry my puppy out everytime I bring him to doogie day care as he wants to stay and keep playing! He loves it so much there with the fantasitc staff, I really appreciate having a place to take my puppy where he is loved!

I love this place it's nice and the people there are so nice and very good with pets. It is pricey I wish they would offer some discounts to loyal customers. I honestly don't want to change vets but these prices do take a toll on my wallet.
