Gursha Ethiopian Grill

My first time eating Ethiopian food and my first time at Gursha. The beautiful women behind the counter were very friendly and helpful with selection. Decided to go with the two person 5/entree combo. They put the food on a large tray covered with Injera (A spongy flatbread. I didn't like the texture and it is tasteless). The only part of the meal I didn't like.

It was the perfect amount of food for 2 and incredibly delicious! The textures and unique spices were a delight and the spiciness ooohhh La la!

On street parking, cafe-type seating, and you bus your own table so it's not fine dining. The food is worth it! The price is on par with similar-type restaurants. I will definitely be ordering take-out from here! Recommend.

First time trying Ethiopian food and it is fabulous! The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food was great and the coffee was a treat. Highly recommend

Quick, quality food in a clean and pleasant environment at a fair price. I cannot stress enough how unique and flavorful this food is-- whether you love Ethiopian food or have never tried it, Gursha is worth visiting! Vegetarian and gluten-free options. I recommend the injera with gomen (collards) and ziggini (beef with berbere/ sauce). Street parking and convenient location.

I LOVE this place!! The food is great and an enjoyable atmosphere. I recommend going later in the afternoon as I find the flavors have more time to marinate. The service is excellent and people there are always kind. It’s one of my favorites and great location.

Absolutely delicious food served by friendly, helpful people. The cafe-like atmosphere was very clean and comfortable. Loved the many avaiable juices, ginger beer and many other beverage choices. Des Moines is lucky to have this place!

Drove from Ames to Des Moines because I heard good things about this place and boy were the rumors true. Amazing food & amazing service by the young man taking my order. After my first plate I had to grab two to-go boxes because the food was just that phenomenal. I plan on making many more trips in the future!

Love, Love, Love!! Wow!! Finally a restaurant in Des Moines for exceptional food. And it’s exotic too. And homey. And everyone has been so kind and fun when we’ve come in. Can I put 6 stars?

Incredible food and service! I’ve never had Ethiopian food before Gursha so I can’t compare to others, but their menu is beginner friendly with many vegan options. I’ll come back again and again. Recommend!

110% one of the best place in Des Moines. We got once a week (at least). Just utterly delicious.

My go-to is the Missir Wot and Doro Wat with Injera. The mango smoothie is also out of this world.

Do yourself a favor and try this place. Especially if you’ve never had Ethiopian food. It’ll get you hooked!!

This place was excellent. We told the staff it was our first time (not only at the restaurant, but also having Ethiopian) and they were super helpful! The food was delicious and nice quantity!

Great place to have a communal meal together. Brought a group of 6 over and asked the owner if we could get the large platters which accommodates 3-4 people, so we had 2 platters. He was very accommodating and even made a custom dish for one of us. Great food and friendly staff, highly recommend

I think I’m in love with this place. The injera is divine and everything I’ve ever had there is SO flavorful, hearty, and satisfying. And bonus, it happens to be super nutritious.
I used to DoorDash it often but I finally dined in the other day. I didn’t realize it’s essentially “fast” food that’s hot and ready for you. Now I’ll be going there ALL the time. It’s about to replace Kum & Go for my quick meals!!!

Fast, fresh, healthy, Ethiopian food with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Plenty of options for the meat eaters as well. They have a Chipotle style setup where you go up the the counter and ask for what you want. All of the other Ethiopian restaurants I have been to are normally, fancy sit down and order type that take forever to get your food out. It’s a must try!

My Fav. Definately recommend. So good, the flavors, good portions for the price, variety of options. I wouldn't lie to ya!

Excellent Ethiopian food! Wide range of choices and amazing injera to accompany. Very intense flavor that will satisfy meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Staff was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions. If you are looking for something different in Des Moines make this your first stop.
