La Cabaña Mexican Bar & Grill

My first trip to this restaurant. Was seated right away. Chips and salsa arrived at the time the waitress was taking our drink order. Not sure if it is an everyday special but we got margaritas at a discounted price. I ordered a taco salad and couldn't finish it. Was able to box it up and take it home. Nice first impression.

First time being at this restaurant, and it was definitely not a disappointment. Had my brothers birthday there and the food was great and our waitress was fantastic. I wanted to mention her, but I can’t remember her name and can’t find my receipt. She was super, I was going to get up to get something we needed (a couple times) and out of the blue she shows up bringing it already, she is on top of the game, just a great server. They have the place decorated nicely however, I think they could get into a little bigger place, it was a little loud, but our party was a little part of that. We had a great time! But I think they would do awesome in a little bigger place. 👍

Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in all of Des Moines.
Great service, great food, great atmosphere.
I've been here probably 25-30 times, and every time has been exceptional.

This is a Hidden Gem when it comes to Mexican food. 5 stars is not good enough for this place the bathrooms are clean the wait staff is friendly the drinks are strong and good and the food is delicious. When it comes to Iowa and Mexican food this restaurants represents. I can't wait to come back.

We've struggled to find even acceptable Mexican food since we've moved to the Midwest, but this is hands down the best we've had! Friendly staff, good environment, and food was fantastic. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back!

Mom and pop restaurant close to the Des Moines airport. Very clean. Very nice service. Quick service average prices. We got the fajita quesadilla combo and it was huge. I've never had so much combination meat in a taco ever. It was fabulous and it's salsa was really good which I'm picky on. I really enjoyed this meal and will be coming back again

Great food at La Cabaña! The steak tacos were above average and the service was excellent. We never ran out of drinks, salsa, or chips. It was only their 2nd day open, but everything ran smoothly. Side note, they mentioned they wouldn’t have their liquor license for another week or so, possibly due to the government shutdown. We will be back.

We stopped here for supper randomly, just trying to find something quick close to our hotel and the airport. Wow! We were blown away!! Anytime we fly into the DSM airport we will be back here!
The service 10/10! Friendly and fast! The food 10/10! Again- fast, delicious, fresh and authentic The salsa- so good! All of our entrees were fantastic!
The margaritas! 12/10!

This is a hidden gem that you need to check out! Fantastic food, drinks and service and prices!

I usually don't seek out Mexican food if I'm not in one of the southern states near the boarder. However, I'm glad I was craving it today. This place is a great spot to stop for a lunch special and margarita! Their medium sized one is pictured here... The price was great, the good was great, the drinks were great! If I'm back in Des Moines, I'll make sure to stop here again. The staff were very friendly as well and I hope you all get to enjoy this wonderful sit down restaurant soon!

Well beyond expectations! Me and my coworker had dinner for under 25 bucks for the both of us. The tacos had a generous amount of steak and were very flavorful, the hot sauce was really good too that came with it. Keep up the great work 😁

I just stopped in for a Margarita after a day of running errands. It really hit the spot! Of course they served me the traditional Nachos and Salsa (which has a wonderful bite to it, by the way)!! I did look over the menu and will definitely return for the food. The servers were very friendly.

I had no idea what "El Puerquito" was, but the ingredients looked good.
I wasn't expecting a hot stone cauldron of bubbling food... But it was amazing!

It was our first time at La Cabana and everything we had was great! Queso dip with Chorizo was great, along with everything else we tried.
It's a really cozy little neighborhood place and the staff were friendly and service was perfect.

We hit the jackpot on the first try and are eager to come back!

Great authentic Mexican. You got to love the smell when you walk in the special burrito was amazing. The tocos are also fantastic.

Went there on valentines day. Super busy and service was slower because of it. The food was out of this world amazing. It was super loud but worth the food.

Yum! Can't wait to go back. I had the caldo de pollo, which really hit the spot and my son had a burger, which looked great!

I had beef enchiladas with mole and they were delicious. It came with beans and rice and I also had cheese sauce and the chips were warm. Nice new restaurant on the Southside hard to believe it used to be a Pizza hut also not real loud music in the background so it was a nice dinner
