Sooo thankful to have a store like this in Des Moines! This shop makes it easy to make eco-friendly, plastic-free alternative choices for my home. I like to use products that have the simplest ingredients but don't have time to make them myself — you can definitely find them here! I love that I can reuse jars also.My husband's favorite product is the shower steamers! 🌎♻🌿

I wish I would've known this shop was here sooner! They pretty much have an eco-friendly version of all of my household needs. I got a bamboo brush for my dishes. I would love to come back here and get some dish/laundry detergent when my other stuff runs out. It would also be a great place to get gifts for the earth-friendly people in your life!

Could not adore this shop more! From its entire aesthetic to the thoughtfully curated products. The owner, Jamie Nicolino has such a passion for the planet and community and it shines within their shop’s walls! We are so lucky to have a bulk refillery in Des Moines and someone like Jamie inspiring our community to move towards more sustainability! My fav products I’ve purchased are the shower steamers, locally made glass straws, Iowa made soaps & shampoo/conditioner bars, and the tangerine Clove soap in the bulk refill section may be my fav hand soap I’ve ever used! Smells lovely and leaves my hands feeling so clean but not dry. Definitely a shop to checkout! Highland Park is lucky to have them!

Excellent store. The woman that was working there was very knowledgeable and friendly, took time to explain products to me and other customers, and just made the place feel like a lovely environment. The prices are good, and I felt like everything was very good quality. Very excited to go back next time I have the need! Excellent place to hit up if you're trying to get into zero-waste or a more eco friendly lifestyle!

I've been following the shop for quite awhile on instagram, and when she opened in Highland Park, I decided to support the store. I walked in and instantly was amazed! There are sustainable products here that I never even realized were wasteful to use! I really appreciated the overall feel of the shop- all the plants are an amazing touch, with the sunshine coming in the windows, it really seemed like an urban oasis!

Not really realizing what I was getting myself into, I didn't bring jars to try some of the products, so I was pleased there was a jar recycling/donation program. I am now saving all my little jars/lids to donate back to the shop.

I love the offerings - especially the different lotions, body balms, natural deodorant, and beauty products. Jamie, the owner was really knowledgeable and answered all my questions gracefully - as I was a bit confused how to use the natural deodorant- rubbing into your pits! seems silly, but it didn't occur to me!

Please stop and see this gem. Jamie is really making something beautiful here, and it is such a compliment to the Highland Park/Northeast side of town!

Literally the dream shop for anyone trying to live a sustainable lifestyle using local products. Jamie, the owner, was SO personable and informative about the products in the shop and is even a user of the products she stocks. Honestly, I'd visit again just to hang out with Jamie to be inspired by her (but probably leave with something I fell in love with).

I recently discovered The Collect has charcoal tooth paste tablets (strawberry/watermelon too). I heard about these on social media & was excited to test it out.

These lived up to the hype! Never going back to traditional tooth paste again! A noticeable reduction in plaque, as I can once again push air between my teeth. Something that normally happens after the dentist.

The bottle of tablets was less then $14, samples of 4 tablets, only 50 cents! I bought a bunch of samples & have been giving them away.

Go get ya some!!!!

Wonderful, sustainable store. I love getting some many products there - especially refillable products including my shampoo, conditioner, and body oil by Locust Grove! I also love their lipstick selection and my husband loves the shower steamers. Going sustainable has never been so easy here. Jamie is also amazing!!

I've been a Collective addict for many years. They are the perfect store for anyone who wants to make earth-positive changes in their life. They sell a whole variety if great products that are easy to adopt into your everyday life. Plus, they're incredibly knowledgeable and have the best tips!

I love The Collective. The space is beautiful and homey. Jamie is so knowledgeable, welcoming, and inclusive. She has a wide array of items, all at very reasonable prices. I have tried her laundry powder, soaps, cloth bandaids, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, and just recently bought some oral care (ie tongue scraper, mouthwash tabs). I've been on a quest to be more sustainable and low-tox over the last couple of years, and I'm just so glad we have a place like this in our community!

We are so happy to have found Jamie and her wonderful store. We seriously love going and make it a fun date day. After realizing EVERYTHING your body comes in contact with affects your health and well being; we work hard to find quality, clean, and sustainable products. It is such a treat to go into her store. She’s welcoming, takes the time to answer every question, and helps fill and weigh your selections. She has a wonderful selection of products. We use her powder laundry detergents, dish soap, tooth paste tabs, shampoo, conditioner, dish washer detergent, reusable paper towels, reusable rags, glass jar lids, toilet bowl brushes, dish sponges, toilet bowl cleaner, and razors. It’s so nice to know that she’s done the research to curate a great selection of clean sustainable products. I trust her completely and I’m so grateful for her and this store. Please do not hesitate and go check it out. It’s so fun to switch to sustainable quality products. We did the math and some of the products save us sooooooo much money too. Like the razors and blades. We love they’re not plastic and the blades are a fraction of the cost of woman’s blades from target etc. Seriously go to the Collective! You will not be disappointed!

Love this place. It was the first place that made Des Moines feel like my home. The owner is amazing. She has great products and is very knowledgeable. She will take the time to any questions and make sure you get what you need and feel comfortable. Love having a beautiful and sustainable store to shop from!

Jamie and her magic sustainable shop both rule. She is an amazing, caring advocate for her community and sustainability. Her beautiful shop makes it a little easier to make thoughtful purchasing choices. So grateful for her and the collective.

Not only sustainable but affordable! I’ve got similar items before but the prices here are super reasonable, great quality items and great service. Anyone who is new to the reduce, reuse, recycle, eco-friendly, vegan product scene OR is a veteran, this store is for you. The new store is in a large, beautiful space with products ranging from makeup products, kitchen tools, pet paraphernalia, handmade soap, local pottery, bulk items (soap, cleaner, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, lotion), and self care items. Jamie and her staff are wonderful and Jamie has put her whole self into her shop. A MUST to add to your everyday shopping or if you are visiting DSM.

I love the selection provided here. You can always find an eco friendly option and I love the refill station!!

Beautiful shop just downtown close to the I-Cubs station. Jamie is so passionate about living sustainably, and every single item she brings into her shop reflects that. All of her goods are thoughtfully chosen with care. She's wonderful at meeting you where you are in your journey of sustainability. Jamie gives back so much to her community, and I love supporting small women-owned businesses. Don't sleep on this shop - she's always bringing cool new lines in!

Had an awesome experience at The Collective today! They offer an awesome selection of sustainable products and you can even refill shampoo, conditioner, etc here. I highly recommend stopping here if you're wanting to switch over to sustainable products. The owner was super helpful too and recommended some other small businesses to check out in the area too. Overall an awesome experience and I will defiantly purchase again from them.
